Our facility, the Skagit First Step Center in Burlington, needs your support! We are currently in need of the following items to help care for our furry companions:

- Dog food & cat food

- Pet shampoo
- Food & water bowls
- Leashes for dogs and cats

For those who handle poultry or see people handling poultry. Do NOT use wings as way to pick birds up.
If you're not sure why we don't want to pick up birds by their wings, it's because you can dislocate, fracture and damage bones, muscles, and tendons.
And though their bones seem hollow, lord knows I have had black eyes and bruises from being smacked by them, they are actually hollow and contain air sacks. Yes, some birds have denser bones depending on breeding and purpose, but it still goes without saying you pick them up the wrong way, you risk injury.

RIP our beloved boy, Blackberry.
You were such a gentle rooster who kept the boys in line. You looked after the young who had no moms. You were our rock. We will miss you but know you are safe in God's arms.
