The farm hosted Central Washington University Horse ISHA athletes on Saturday. We had 80 riders with their friends and families from Washington and Oregon. The riders used our versatile horses in Walk, Trot, Canter classes. We had a beautiful sunny day for this successful event. The farm loves to support young riders learning about the horse industry. In the past our horses have been shown by other Equestrian teams. If you have photos, please share in the comments.

Meet Buckskin Buck, Buck was the first HORSE that was added to the pony herd at the farm. Buck was purchased for oldest brother Albert for a 4-H project as he outgrew Windy the pony.
Buck was a grade Quarter Horse gelding that became a big part of the versatile program at the farm. He taught lessons, gave trail rides and was a camp staple. Buck was useful for years and lived into his 30’s.

Let us tell you how Lang's Horse and Pony Farm grew over these past 5 decades. The main part of the farm is set on 110 acres that Harry and Dolores Lang purchased over the years, by buying small parcels of neighboring properties.

Harry originally purchased 5 acres, built a bridge so he could get onto the property and then built the Lang Family house. This home still sits on the property today with Dolores living in it. A large portion of the acreage was originally the property of Mount Vernon Sand and Gravel. The gravel pit started in the early 1900’s and closed for commercial use in the 1950’s. The beautiful lake at the center of the farm is remnants of that gravel pit. That lake was diked up and used to retain water so the gravel pit could wash the rock. The original gravel wash house stood on the west side of the lake until the mid 1990’s

The Red Barn near our main parking lot was built in the lates 1970’s with wood salvaged from helping other people tear down barns and garages.
In the early 1980’s, the main horse tie rails were built, and repurposed housing sheds were brought in for the tack rooms which are still being used for the English and Western tack.

The property was heavily forested and over the years Harry Lang developed the forest trails. Harry was a heavy machinery operator and enjoyed collecting machinery that could help develop the property.

At one time, the gravel pit area was an ugly old mine, but with time and the help of the Lang family the land has been replanted and has turned into a place of beauty. The Lang Farm is considered an equestrian park. A place where thousands of visitors near and far have come to enjoy the picturesque setting.

2025 is a special year for our Farm…
Lang’s Horse and Pony Farm of Mount Vernon WA was conceived in the early 1970’s, by Harry and Dolores Lang with the help of their young family. 2025 marks 50 years as a family-owned business!
Dolores Lang is 93 years old and still lives in the family home on the property. Harry Lang passed away in 2020 at the age of 88. Today the farm is owned by their youngest daughter Lola Lang who manages the day-to-day operations and cares for the over 100 horses and ponies.
The farm has grown and expanded over the last 50 years, but the core principles of loving horses and making them accessible to everyone has stayed the same. Starting with pony rides for the local children, the farm eventually added horses for adult trail rides and then even draft horses. Under Lola’s direction, the farm started a summer horse camp in 1987 that is still very popular to this day. Visitors from all over the world enjoy riding horses in the iconic western Washington forest land.
As this anniversary year unfolds, we will be sharing our memories with so many photos! We would love to hear from anyone that has great stories, memories and photos from the last 50 years. Please be sure to check back often for upcoming gatherings, anniversary specials, and fun contests.
Please share your memories and photos with us. This farm would not be the special place that it is without the support of so many wonderful clients and friends.
