A LETTER FROM SARAH ABOUT HER EXPERENCE WITH D&N LOVEBIRD AVIARY

Hi there my name is Sarah,

I purchased my sweet lovebird “ Jasper “ thru Missouri D&A Lovebird Aviary. It was an amazing experience. I had a bird I was needing to re-home due to biting behavior before I could get a new bird. Dennis volunteered to help me find a home and did so, now this bird has a new owner and I am very content. Dennis met me in Springfield to swap the birds. He went above and beyond to help me get the right lovebird. Dennis got to know me during the interview process to pick the right bird to fit my personality and home environment. Over many phone calls and patience responses by Dennis to help re home other bird and get right bird for me, he and I became friends. So I now have a bird re homed, a lovebird I adore and a dear friendship with Dennis. He even calls to check on how the bird is getting along and answers any questions I may have. He truly cares for his lovebirds and the home they go to. So in my opinion the price is well worth it. If you are considering a lovebird have no doubt with Missouri D&A Lovebird Aviary.

A SHORT STORY BEHIND MIGHTY MOE AND STARLITE WHO ARE CLUTCH PARTNERS, BORN IN JUNE OF 2023.

MIGHTY MOE WAS THE LAST IN THE CLUTCH TO BE BORN AND ALWAYS WAS THE LAST TO BE FED BY HIS PARENTS BECAUSE OF HIS SIZE AND BEING THE YOUNGEST.

WELL NOW YOU KNOW WHY I NAMED THIS BIRD MIGHTY MOE. THE DISPOSITION OF THIS BIRD GETS WANT IT WANTS AND WILL PUSH ITS WAY FORWARD IN THAT DESIRE TO ACCOMPLISH THE TASK.

I NAMED THE LINTINO PEACH FACE STARLITE. A BEAUITFUL LATINO WITH A ORANGE FACE THAT WILL BECOME DARKER AS IT MOLTS.

MY BIRDS AND THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE PURCHASED THEM WILL AGREE “THEY WERE VERY SATIFIED WITH THEIR NEW FAMILY COMPANION”.

I DO NOT SHIP ANY OF MY BIRDS BECAUSE IT IS A STRESSFUL EXPERENCE FOR THEM. IMAGINE YOUSELF BEING SHIPED IN A SMALL CRATE AND GOING THROUGH THAT EXPERENCE, WITH NO ONE TO TALK OR PLAY WITH.

WHAT SOME OF MY BABIES LOOK LIKE " I just took them away from parents today to start hand feeding them. I have two Lutino's and three Dutch Blue they are around two 1/2 weeks old and will be growing all their feathers out within the next two weeks. Thanks Dennis

NEW POLICY CONCERNING PURCHASES ........

I now have been blessed with four new baby Love Birds. They are only two weeks old, not sure on the colors yet. I will post pictures when they feather out. From Travis a school teacher who purchased Skittles a few years ago from us.
Skittles loved attention and could never get enough. He wasn't overly loud most of the time and had beautiful colors. He was always the top attraction at our school during open houses and grandparent's day. Every kid in the school knew about him. Several kids even overcame their fear of birds because of him. Thank you for providing this wonderful, meaningful service.
Thank you for being so wonderful. If I decide to adopt another I will certainly come to you. I feel insensitive asking now, but it's only because I know quantity is limited. Will you have any in late December?

Symptoms of Illness in Lovebirds

Fatigue
Dull eyes
Sitting (at the bottom of the cage, or in one position over a long period of time)
Sleeping with its head tucked under a wing for a long time
Inactivity
Aggressive or withdrawn behavior
Labored breathing (discussed under "Respiratory Problems in Lovebirds" below)
Continuously fluffed-up feathers
Tail bobbing (moving up and down)
Sneezing
Difficulty flying
Appetite loss
Fever
Discharge from the nasal area
Flaky beak
Increased anxiety
Steps to Care for Sick Lovebirds (at Home)
I live in an area where vets are not unavailable. Before taking Lulu to a vet and before even fully knowing she was sick, I decided to help her at home. If you do not have access to a vet or must wait for an appointment, the following steps can be taken in the interim:


CARE OF LOVE BIRD

Keep your bird warm by covering their cage/putting a heating pad under it.
Place the cage in a dark room so your pet can get rest.
Avoid making loud noises—these can disturb them.
Make sure their food and water are easily reachable.
Monitor their feeding pattern.
Clean their cage daily to help remove bacteria.
Move their cage into sunlight (not direct) and fresh air for at least 10–15 minutes per day.
Crush a boiled chicken egg into tiny pieces and feed them. This ensures they receive a good bundle of calcium and other vital nutrients.
Talk calmly to them. Tell them that they will feel better and say you love them (it helps). Our pets understand us and vice-versa.
