The Mount Vernon Animal Shelter is happy to serve residents inside, Mount Vernon city limits. We strive to reunite every pet with its family.

The Mount Vernon, TX Animal Shelter is the temporary home to dogs and cats that have been picked up by Animal Control. The Shelter is run by the City of Mount Vernon, TX Animal Control serving the citizens of Mount Vernon, TX. In the event a pet isn't able to be returned to its family every attempt will be made to adopt the animal to a new loving family. Shelter hours are M-F 8:00am-5:00pm please call City Hall at 903 537-2252 to make arrangements to view animals

ADOPTED!! This amazing mom cat that raised her babies in our shelter, and then was a surrogate to 15 babies has now found a home for her self. I am jumping with joy, it was a pleasure to take care of such a special cat. We send our love with you.

ADOPTED!! One black and white boy and the little brown and white boy left together today. The other black and white boy will be leaving next week. All boys have found homes so happy for the sweet babies.

THANK YOU!! We had some amazing volunteers come throughout the month of August and September, they did an amazing job of renovating our cat room. They donated the supplies to make it better for the cats. I got the last touches done. It is so much more organized and full of supplies. I appreciate every single person in the community that has helped me with these sweet animals. The community here is amazing.
