**Update: No longer available**
Buster's New Year resolution is simple, to be a good boy for his new family.
Buster is believed to be around 4 years old, and is a large size black lab. He is leash trained, potty trained, knows commands, loves to play ball, and will melt right into you when you pet his ears. He aims to please, listens very well and has good manners. He is a pretty mellow guy once he settles into his surroundings, and should do well in any living situation.
He has been friendly with adults and older kids. He was being calm and wagging his tail at a cat that we introduced to him. We have not been able to test him with small children. Buster is dog selective, and has gotten along with some dogs at the shelter, but seems to not like intact males.
It is $25 to adopt from the shelter. Buster will go to his new home dewormed, vaccinated, microchipped, with a voucher for a free rabies vaccine, and nutritional package from Urban Dogg. Adopter must neuter within 30 days.
If you are interested in meeting Buster, call Animal Control at 417-259-9180.
*UPDATE: ADOPTED*
This pretty dilute tortie is looking for a calm and quiet home. She is shy and very scared in the shelter, but still SO sweet. She's not a big fan of dogs, which is contributing to her fear in the shelter. We believe she was probably a house cat before coming to us, and may do best as an inside only cat.
There is no fee to adopt cats from the shelter. Adopter must have her vaccinated for rabies, and spayed (she may already be spayed but will need a vet to confirm.)
She will go to her new home with a coupon to Urban Dogg for a free nutritional package.
If you are interested in adopting, call Animal Control at 417-259-9180.
Update: Adopted!
Charlie is in need of a home or rescue by next Monday, September 30th.
Charlie is a large size adult male, he is believed to be a wire haired pointer mix (or possibly a poodle mix). Charlie LOVES people and is leash trained and potty trained. He loves to play in the water and go for walks. Charlie smiles when he greets you, and is always happy. Charlie does well with female dogs, but is selective with males.
It is $25 to adopt Charlie. He will go to his new home vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped, and with a voucher for a free rabies, and a coupon to Urban Dogg.
He must be neutered within 30 days of adoption.
If you would like to meet Charlie, please call Animal Control at 417-259-9180.
**Update: ADOPTED!!!**
Nova is still available for adoption. She is in need of placement in a home or rescue by next Monday, September 30th, 2024.
Nova is a STUNNING XL size Rottweiler. She is good with other dogs after a proper introduction. She is potty trained, and leash trained, but she does pull.
Nova has done great being around older kids. She looks big and tough, but she's just a giant sweetheart once she meets you!
Nova will need to be spayed within 30 days of adoption. She will come microchipped, dewormed, vaccinated, and with a voucher for a free rabies vaccine and a coupon for a nutritional package from Urban Dogg.
It is only $25 to take Nova home. If you would like to meet her, please call Animal Control at 417-259-9180. Her time is running out, she needs a home or rescue asap!
Update: Adopted!
I really need help from the community to spread the word and share this post. We are struggling with adoptions right now, and have several dogs in need of homes.
This is Audra. She is a large size Shepherd mix. She is potty trained, leash trained, fantastic with kids, cats, and other dogs. Audra is fully vaccinated and has been dewormed. It doesn't get much closer to perfect than Audra, yet she is STILL in the shelter waiting for a home. We believe Audra would fit well into any living situation.
Adopter must have her spayed within 30 days.
If you would like to meet Audra, please call Animal Control at 417-259-9180.
*Update: Adopted*
Daffy is a 1-2 year old girl, who is LOADED with personality. She is believed to be an Australian Shepherd mix. Daffy is potty trained, leash trained, knows commands, and is good with kids and adults. She loves to play, but also enjoys time relaxing. She does well with most other dogs, but needs to be introduced slowly. She is not good with cats.
Daffy was emaciated when she was found, but she is gaining weight and received a clean bill of health from the vet. She has been treated for fleas/ticks, been dewormed, and will come microchipped and vaccinated for rabies.
Daffy's adoption is $25. Owner will be required to spay within 30 days.
If you are interested in meeting Daffy, please call Animal Control at 417-259-9180.
**UPDATE: Going to Rescue **
Thank you Audrain Humane Society: Pet Pals!
Good boy looking for a good person.
This big love bug is believed to be a pitbull mix. He is sweet as he can be, very playful with the other dogs, great with people, and has very good manners. He is looking for a home where someone will understand and work him through his fears of being on a leash and/or going inside a building.
He does not understand how to walk on a leash whatsoever, and he refuses to walk through gates/doors. When you put a leash on him, he just drops to the ground and won't move because he's scared. He is happy and playful when he's off leash, but still refuses to go through gates/doors. We speculate he may have been penned up outside, and gotten in trouble for leaving the pen.
All he needs is someone to show him love, and give him time to understand that he isn't going to get in trouble any more.
There is no fee to adopt this dog. Adopter must neuter/vaccinate and have him microchipped ($25).
If you are interested in adopting please call Animal Control at 417-259-9180.

Yet again the shelter is crowded, and "Amelia" is our longest resident here. We really need to find her a home quickly, and we know our community can spread the word that this goofy girl is in need of her own home.
Here's what we know. She is about 1 year old, mix breed, around 45-50 lbs.
She is good with all dogs, and good with the kitten at the shelter. She loves to get her belly rubbed, roll in the grass, and chase a ball. She loves to jump up on top of things, and she is FULL of personality. She is leery of strangers at first, but warms up quickly, especially if they have treats. She knows her name, and she knows how to sit. She also has pretty good leash manners.
There is no adoption fee for this girl. Adopter will be required to spay/vaccinate, and microchip ($25).
If you are interested in adopting Amelia, please call Animal Control at 417-259-9180.
