Please don't do this even once! I dealt with a situation at Walmart parking lot last Sunday of some idiot that left his dog in the car for over an hour and 95+ degree heat. With the windows roll down in the front maybe 8 to 10 inches. When he finally came out, he said don't tell me how to take care of a dog. I love. I'm not going to be lectured by you. I only did this once. is enough right? Please watch for this car and if you see a dog in there again, please let me know and I will report it to the authorities. He does it again. He's got a pattern and that precious dog deserves better! Keep your eyes open for dogs in vehicles! Blue car belowā¬‡ļø

Hi guys šŸ˜
My name is Ellie and Iā€™m approximately a 2yro lab retriever mix.
Iā€™m as sweet as the frosting on your favorite cake, Iā€™m a gentle girl. I promise to be the calm in your storm. ā›ˆļø Life in a shelter ainā€™t bad, but I dream of a home like I used to have, you see my dad had some medical conditions to take care of and he could no longer keep me, and some nice gentleman even sponsored my adoption fee, so they say my adoption is FREE.. whatever that means Iā€™m unsure. But adopting me means that you will gain a gentle sweet and cuddly companion. Please call the shelter to schedule an appointment to meet me šŸ“ž 870-425-9221 šŸ“ž
Sincerely, Ellie šŸ¾

STOP!!!! PLEASE READ!

DID YOU KNOW THAT YOU CAN'T SPREAD COLD WATER WITH AN OVERHEATED DOG OR PUT A WET TOWEL ON ITS BACK? !! ļø.
HERE'S THE INSTRUCTION OF WHAT YOU SHOULD DO..

Animal lovers, never make the mistake of pouring cold water overheated dog or putting a wet towel on its back. You will see the opposite effect.

Due to cold, the veins contract and due to high temperatures (above 42 degrees), the proteins in the blood collide, causing the blood to become thick and tight.

Due to the combination of these two factors, blood stops entering the heart and organs fail one by one due to lack of oxygen.
The result is a very slow but very painful death.

If you try to help an overheated dog in this way, it will die anyway.

First give him lukewarm water to drink, then cool his feet and chest/belly with a wet towel.
Then put the dog in the shade on a wet towel!!!

Sharing is highly desirable because time and time again we see footage of overheated dogs exiting a car with water spilled on their backs.

Reposting because somebody out there is missing this incredible dog Esther to adopt! I'm personally fostering her and can vouch for everything! She loves other dogs all farm animals, birds, ducks and chickens, cats, other dogs and kids. She absolutely loves to ride in the car or truck and sits there like she owns the place. She's a huge fan of playing fetch and loves squeaky toys! Lucky Dawg Rescue is willing to cover her adoption fee as long as her adopter agrees to update her vaccines when needed and keep her on heartworm prevention. I know there's somebody out there that can give her a forever home, I have no one taking her! She's apprx 2 yrs old and weighs apprx 50 lbs.

Look at this beautiful girl!

ADOPTABLE OF THE WEEK goes to our beautiful Jasmine! In her beauty shot, her hair could rival Princess Jasmineā€™s with its sleek, glossy coat. And that regal smile! A true Pittie smile, ear to ear.
We have a lot to share about Jasmine as she is one of our long term dogs and the staff and volunteers know her well and would love to have you come out and meet her.
-Jasmine is 3-4 years old, she is spayed, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative.
-Jasmine is a Pittie mix, with a stellar personality. She does come out of the kennels with energy (very typical of the AC dogs) but then settles into rolling over, loving belly rubs and planting kisses.
-Jasmine is a big girl. She certainly is around other dogs, she does well with most but doesnā€™t like them in her face. Perhaps because she has likely been a mother several times and just likes a little space after her early years. Due to her size it is not recommended she be in a home with cats or chickens, and you would want to introduce her on leash at the shelter to another dog.
-The people that know her well say she just loves attention, pets, belly rubs. She may likely be the kind of dog who enjoys a walk but then may be that couch potato dog much of the day.
- Jasmine loves riding in the car, hops right in. She may need a brush up on housetraining due to living in a kennel.
-As a longer term resident of the AC, Jasmineā€™s adoption fee has been sponsored by theThe Martha Decker Memorial Fund for Animals.
Scheduling a meet and greet with Jasmine can be done on our spacious grounds with time to sit and visit with her on the covered porch. Call the CVAC at 870 994-4445, leaving a message if staff is on a call or attending to animal care.
PLEASE SHARE so that Jasmine has the best chance for finding her family.

Such exciting news!!!! Please share! And spay and neuter your pets!

Have A Heart Pet Shelter has signed an Agreement with Bissell Pet Foundation's ā€œFix the Futureā€ Program, a national spay and neuter initiative that was launched in 2023 to address the lack of access to affordable veterinary care for both shelters and pet owners. Through the deployment of a trusted network of nearly 100 relief veterinarians, Bissell Pet Foundation is breaking the barriers to affordable and accessible spay/neuter.

The program requires that shelters charge a maximum of $25 per pet to the community on days that contract vets are performing surgery. The goal is to provide spay and neuter to the community as close to free as possible. If you have a pet that needs to be spayed or neutered, please contact Have A Heart Shelter at 870-449-7387 and get your name on the list to be called to set up an appointment. Together we can make a difference!

UPDATE:
After all of us, jumping through hoops of fire, the good news is Charlie boy the old lab is reclaimed from the Humane Society and at Breeze Hill Kennels bed-and-breakfast being boarded until he can leave for Colorado on the 25th! Thanks to a lot of hard work from the Carolyn Carter and crew at The Humane Society of North Central Arkansas, Safe Harbor Rescue in Colorado, Gay and Logan at Breeze Hill Kennel , and Angie at All Creatures Midway, we made it happen! Rest up Charlie and fatten up big boy you're about to have your best life in Colorado ! A much deserved life change!
Today was a hard day, but it was also a day of great reward. We were able to help these adorable pups who were living in terrible conditions after their owner passed away. The Humane Society of North Central Arkansas played a vital role in saving them. Carolyn and her team, along with Dr. Clagburn, worked tirelessly to ensure their safety. After their vet checks, the dogs are now in our care. A big thank you to my tribe of dog rescuers for your support. If you're interested in adopting a senior lab named Charlie or a tiny Chiweenie named Coco, please give them time to get vetted and apply. Despite the tears I shed today, I am filled with joy knowing these precious ones are now safe!
