🎉🎉IMPORTANT UPDATE🎉🎉

✨️Due to health reasons, Karissa will be transitioning the majority of grooming clients to Marina✨️

I have been dealing with a bone spur on C6 pinching the nerve for over 2 weeks now. Xrays showed the issue & getting the MRI scheduled has been a challenge, had it scheduled for the 10th only to have it canceled because the wrong order was put in & now waiting on a new date. 😩

I am testing what I can & cannot do with grooming. Did a bath, brush & blowdry on a very well behaved toy poodle yesterday. My neck seized up within a few hours. I'm going to try short haired baths this next week on 2 well behaved pups & see how it goes. Full Grooms are completely out of the picture, along with shed less baths. I am very sad about this but it is what it is & I need to be able to run the boarding & daycare portion of things.

I appreciate everyone being patient with me these past few weeks. Pain sucks.

UPDATE ON MY PHYSICAL HEALTH:

For those who don't know, I was in several accidents during my 20's involving a car & motorcycles. The last one in 2015 should've killed me, my husband literally thought he was going to be picking up my body off the highway in Denver. It was a miracle that I didn't have a single broken bone, but I did crack my head open, was bruised all over & had my leathers on so my skin was spared.

Over the past 15 years, I've been dealing with my body slowly deteriorating. I've been doing everything possible to slow it, but it's one of those things that can't be totally stopped. I'm starting to have more bad days then good, despite routine chiropractor & medical massages. I can deal with pain to an extent but when it debilitates me to the point I'm afraid to move, that's a huge problem. It's a safety issue big time when it comes to handling dogs & I panic.

The boarding service is my main priority. I absolutely love grooming but I need to slow down on that, as it causes the most stress on my body. I'm just so thankful that it's not my only source of income, or I'd be in a real mess. So, I have decided to not take anymore new grooming clients. However, I will do any boarding exit baths only on new dogs. Bath, brush & blowdrys are way easier on me physically than total style, bath, brush & blowdrys. Marina is still grooming on her days but there will come a point that her schedule will not be able to take on new clients as well. I am so incredibly grateful that she walked into my life. On that note, please make sure you tip her well!!

I have secretly been doing daycare one day a month with the same 5 dogs over the past few months & it's been going great. Playing with the dogs is a lot less physically demanding than grooming. Cleaning can get a little much but my husband helps me on bad days. With that being said, starting in January, I will open the 1st Wednesdays of the month to 5 dogs for daycare. The 3rd Wednesday is already full & going great. If things go well with me physically, I will add another day in March & another in May.

Dogs are a part of my heart & soul. I would be absolutely miserable if I didn't work with them. I've got 20 years of my life invested in dogs. Making them happy, healthy, social & loved. It's literally what makes me tick. People...sometimes not so much 🤣 This is why when I had someone interested in buying the place, who gave us incredible vibes & confidence to keep my dream alive, I jumped at the opportunity. But the universe reminded me that it wasn't my time to hang up my dog whispering skills. So, I have to listen to my body & do what I can do without compromising my health even further. Physical health isn't the only thing that makes us be...our soul needs love too. I hope everyone can be understanding & patient with me. I promise I'm doing the best I can do without breaking. ❤️

Happy to announce a new treat/toy that I'll be using here!

I originally got these for my fur kids because one of my Frenchies has food allergies. I make the treat portion myself with various types that include butternut squash, sweet potatoes or peanut butter. They love them!

Country Pet Playground is coming up on 8 years in business! It sure has been one heck of a ride, with Covid & the awful economy, but I've dug my heels in from day one & told myself I'd fight for my dream no matter what! There has been so much love, support, encouragement & trust from hundreds of people in this community & I can't thank everyone enough that has stuck by me. Running a business was a total learning experience (still is!) But loving & caring for your beloved fur kids is something I was born to do & I can't believe I've been doing that as a whole for almost 20 years!

To all of my amazing clients, I wanted to let you know that effective February 1, 2025, I will be adjusting my rates for boarding & grooming services with a 6.5% increase, which is $2 for boarding. I've been dreading this, but it's something I have to do. My operating costs have increased over the past year, and this adjustment will allow me to continue providing you the high level of service you have come to expect. I am also thinking of the future in regards to hiring more help.

🎉 Would any of our wonderful clients be interested in a 1-2 hour 1-on-1 session to learn how to properly maintain your dogs coat at home? What goes on at home makes a huge impact on how the groom goes with us.

Want that fluffy dog but you're just not getting how to brush & bath without causing mats? I can guide you! We will go through the entire coat on line brushing with a slicker brush & following up with a comb. Then we'll bath, brush & blow dry. We'll discuss products, tools & things you can do at home to make things easier on you. Like using grooming loops, high velocity dryers, etc.

Price will be based on coat type & size. It will be what we charge for a bath plus $15 for the extra time & knowledge that I'm passing on. I am willing to do these sessions on Saturdays since most work during the week (I work 7 days a week 🙃).

Doodles: $42-$70 + $15
Long Hair: $42 - $65 + $15
Wire Hair: $40 - $60 + $15

I'm so excited about getting to care for this handsome boy 😍

I have started a program for our local K9 Units so their families get to go on vacation & the K9's get a safe place to stay, at no cost to the Officer's. I will also be giving this hairy boy a shed less bath before going home...if he'll let me 🤣 K9 Units hold a special place in my heart, as many of you know my husband is former law enforcement & we've had the honor of caring for his partner when she was retired. They are fabulous members of our law enforcement who dedicate their lives to keep us safe ❤️
