Stone County Humane Society

Stone County Humane Society A small private rescue and no-kill shelter for animals in Stone County ARKANSAS Animal Shelter Stone County Humane Society, Inc.

is a 501 (c)3 organization created in 1999 with the goal of building an animal shelter for dogs and cats in Stone County, AR. We completed that goal in August 2016 with the opening of our new 3,000 sf shelter building. Our organization is managed by a 10 member board and we have 3 part-time paid employees and one full-time shelter manager who help feed and care for the animals. We are located at 1

7379 Hwy 9, Mountain View, AR 72560. We have limited space but we do not euthanize to make room for another animal. We try to place all our animals in the right loving home as soon as possible after spaying and neutering and complete vetting. The doors keep revolving as one leaves another comes so we are usually in full capacity at all times. We can care for about 25 to 30 dogs at any one time and about 20 to 25 cats. An appointment must be made to surrender an animal please call 870-269-5200 and leave a message and someone will return your call. The shelter is open daily for adoptions from 2 to 5 PM and mornings by appointment only. Our dog adoption fee is $150, our fee for a Paws in Prison trained dog is $200, and cat adoption fee is $75. You can complete an online application found on our website at schspets.org and someone will contact you once received. You can see all our dogs and cats ready for adoption at petfinder.com and adoptapet.com. If you wish to make a donation to help support our cause, please go to cuddley.com and look for our posts there for special medical needs for our animals or for ones that have been here a while and are hoping to get adopted soon. You can also go to paypal.com and send a general donation to help meet our monthly bills as well as donate right here on FB. We also take cash or checks at the shelter or you can mail your check to SCHS, 17379 Highway 9, Mountain View, AR 72560.

All Rufus wants for Christmas is a loving family. Can you please gift that to him?

The holiday season begins today. Yeah, we know that holiday music started playing in stores after Halloween and Christmas stuff has been out for weeks. But that doesn’t matter. It’s what Rufus proclaims that counts. And he says today’s the day. He’s a dog, so it all makes sense. To him. So, adjust your plans accordingly. By the way, Rufus says your plans should include him. His Yuletide wish is to be adopted so that he can be home for Christmas. With the rest of the family. He’s less than a year old and weighs around 48 pounds now. Rufus is beautiful, good, and lifts spirits. Just like the holidays. Which begin today. Rufus said so.

Rufus is one amazing dog 🐕 ..and he is available for adoption! If you are looking for an amazing companion, don't pass this up!

From the get-go, Rufus will know things about you. How friendly you are. If you mean him harm. Your emotional state…whether you’re angry or afraid. And of course, whether you’re a sucker, like me, who’s likely to pass out treats freely and will easily fall victim to sad-eyed pleas. Don’t know how dogs can spot sucker so quickly, but they can. Rufus is one of the best, and we love him for it. You will, too. Rufus is 11 months old now and weighs around 48 pounds. He’s a mix with one of the most gorgeously marked faces you’ll ever see. He’s a looker, for sure. Rufus is also a thinker and a no muss, no fuss guy. He looks, he learns, and then he decides. Except for the spotting a sucker thing. He can do that in about a second and a half.
