I have found that some of my favorite photos and content that makes me feel fulfilled has come from shoots that were completely spontaneous and FREE. Believe me when I say that putting the work in pays off eventually.

I’m in the process of editing some super cool photos from a branding with D Bar Ranch & Red Tag Division this morning. I plan on getting some highlights posted today so stay tuned 😉

I was talking with a friend recently and we were discussing how many opportunities we have missed or not started until later in life because of the fear of rejection or not being “talented enough”.

The best advice I can give anyone who is just waiting for their opportunity to happen is to start now! No one in your life is as critical of your work as you. So start now and begin your journey because you’ll never know if it works if you never get started!

“𝐈𝐭 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐲”

To be able to depict in a photo what usually goes unsaid in the cowboy culture was priceless. Almost each individual in this picture was a competitor in the rodeo that night. Instead of gearing up for their own event they were by their fellow competitors side making sure everything went right and could offer a helping hand if needed. To put aside ones pride in order to see to the success and safety of a friend - to lend a helping hand when it’s needed most - to show grit and determination, but also compassion and humility - that is what cowboying is. Although it might seem like it’s just horse and rider, it usually takes an army.

This is just a sneak peek of what’s to come from the Pioneer Arena and Events Ranch Rodeo shoot. To get to team up with Gill Dangelmayr Photography on this shoot was a blast and we can’t wait to show you what other priceless moments we caught on camera during this event!!

“While time fades, the hoof prints left on your heart will never disappear.”

We lost an integral part of our team early this morning. D Bar Scooter AKA “Scooter” was a story for the ages. His mother was bought from the Waggoner Ranch in 2008 and in 2009 a surprise baby was born. Black as coal with a kind eye, he became the first c**t project Eli Dangelmayr had ever been given. For 14 years they have worked together on the ranch and in the arena. Saving Eli’s life countless of times in scary situations, then going into retirement and taking care of amateur riders and kids, until today. A surprise case of colic took Scooter from us and he passed before he could be taken into surgery.

A piece of our heart is buried in the back pasture along with Scooter, you will be greatly missed buddy.

If you have any memories or photos with Scooter please share them below so we can all see what an amazing horse he was.

“D Bar Dos Equis” (Smart Time Pepto 10 X GA Kinda Pepto)

This amazing gelding went to his first show on February 18th and took home the championship! While not being bred in our program, “Dos” was started and trained on the ranch. We have big plans for this guy in the ranch cutting pen!

Freezing temperatures. Sleet. Ice-covered fields, pastures and roads. Another winter storm has arrived in the Lone Star State. But farmers and ranchers continue working.

Chores must still be done, like putting out hay and feed. It’s up to us to provide extra nutrition that help livestock maintain appropriate body temperatures.

One of the most challenging tasks for ranchers in winter is feeding. When the grass and plants that cattle and horses normally graze on turn to frozen ground, ranchers must bring hay to their animals, often hauling them for miles on end to make sure all are fed.

We hope everyone is staying safe and warm, but pray for your farmers and ranchers. Because the job doesn’t end when the temperature drops and the roads get dangerous.

From being raised on our ranch, to representing this great country at the WRCA Working Ranch Cowboys Association finals in Amarillo!

D Bar Pep Talk AKA “Hot Shot” was raised here with all intentions of becoming a full fledged ranch horse until his luck changed and he was put on the show road. Placing Top 10 in the Limited Non Pro at the Snaffle Bit Futurity showed us just how talented this guy was and we decided to let him represent the brand while going on to do great things in and out of the show pen!

He has come full circle and we found out that this now 5 year old would be carrying Old Glory at the WRCA Finals this year, who knew he would still be representing the ranch way of life after all this time!

We love you Hot Shot! Keep being the great horse we raised you to be!
