Happy Faces of recently adopted pets at Ahimsa Rescue Foundation.
In a small town in the middle of Sequoyah County, Oklahoma there is an extraordinary “all volunteer” animal rescue where families travel from across the country to adopt rescued pets from the Ahimsa Rescue Foundation.
Ahimsa Rescue Foundation is unique in the world of animal rescue. Ahimsa Rescue Foundation strives to find the most perfect, loving homes possible for the pets that come into rescue with us.
Ahimsa’s goal is to unite pets and people to form loving and lasting families. We take into consideration both the family’s lifestyle and the individual personalities of our animals.
And once an animal passes through Ahimsa's adoption programs, we are responsible for them for life. In fact, we insist that if for any reason the adoptive family cannot keep their pet, he or she must be returned to us for re-homing.
Thank you adopting families for making adoption your first option.
Thank you to the Ahimsa Volunteer Team for providing love and care to the animals at Ahimsa Rescue Foundation.
"The one absolutely unselfish friend that a man can have in this
selfish world, the one that never deserts him, the one that never proves ungrateful or treacherous, is his dog."

Lady is doing so good!! She’s definitely very social and LOVES to cuddle! Link is loving her and the neighbor dogs were barking at her so he stepped between and started barking at the neighbors like he was defending his sister. It was adorable! She definitely is fond of my husband and anytime he walks out the door she whines for him. Thank you so much for blessing our family with her❤️

Please meet Ahimsa Rescue Foundation’s first “Resident Shelter Dog” named Nugget.

Nugget loves living her life at Ahimsa Rescue Foundation.

Ahimsa’s pet caregivers/volunteers love Nugget and look forward to seeing her each time they volunteer at Ahimsa.

Ahimsa Rescue Foundation is run by animal loving volunteers who graciously and freely give their time, energy, and resources to provide love and care to the rescued animals at Ahimsa.

Ahimsa Rescue Foundation volunteers receive NO compensation other than the deep satisfaction in knowing that they are saving the lives of animals who are vigilant guards, relentless messengers, gentle baby-sitters, brave soldiers, hilarious clowns, and mostly, dear friends. Thank you Ahimsa volunteers. You are greatly appreciated!

Ahimsa Rescue Foundation is run like a doggy daycare, and dogs love being at Ahimsa; however, they are very much in need of a good home.

Please have your pet spayed and neutered and encourage your pet owner friends to spay and neuter their pets because there are not enough homes.

Pet overpopulation is global; however, the solution is in every community. "Prevent a litter. Spay and Neuter"

Thanks for helping us make sure we keep Rex happy and healthy! He’s been a great boy with the cats at home, too. They’re really warming up to him well. We went on a walk this morning and he’s just finishing up his breakfast now!😋"

Update on Ore (formerly Charlie) who was adopted by Ahimsa Rescue Foundation

"I just wanted to reach out to forward along a few photos and update on Ore (formerly Charlie).

He's been doing great both at home and around the neighborhood. He's learned how to walk with a loose leash, as well as to sit and stay consistently on command, and he's started to take up fetching more seriously (after initially being apprehensive). He loves to cuddle with a few different stuffed animals, and while he will tear some apart, he has taken special care not to do so with the two that he got when he first arrived home with us!

I'm attaching some photos we had taken of him recently. We had gone on a walk/hike near a river on a relatively "hot" day (75, 80 degrees), and he gladly went right into the river, sat down, and starting gulping up the water as it flowed into his mouth! He was pretty tired afterwards and took a nap in the car on the way home!

Everyone we comes across, whether on the street, in the dog park, or among home visitors, finds him so charming, handsome, and sweet--just like he was when we first met him!"

Sincerely,
Cameron and Angie from Fayetteville, AR

Adoption update on Cooper:

"We are absolutely in love with Cooper. He’s definitely a keeper! Also, we kept the name Cooper bc we think it’s a good name.

Cooper’s fit right into our little family quite easily. He’s energetic and loves chasing a ball in the yard (although he doesn’t like handing it over to be thrown again yet). I’m wanting to take him to the dog park nearby, but it’s been so cold lately. They have some agility equipment I think he’ll like. Plus I am curious how he does with other dogs.

He’s been to see our vet here. We’ve got him (and ourselves) signed up for dog training beginning next week.

He’s such a good, good boy. He loves giving and receiving affection. We’re so grateful he came into our lives. Thank you so much for taking care of him and connecting us.

Sincerely,
Monica M

Adoption update on Blu:
"It’s been pretty cold here ! Blu has done very well coping with the snow and ice. We found a company online that makes coats specifically for whippets and greyhounds. She also had “balloon boots” from our Christmas trip to Minneapolis !
She certainly is not a fan of the cold, but we made it work !
Obedience classes are going very well. Blu goes to doggie daycare twice a week at the trainer’s place where training and socializing takes place. The trainer reinforces the training with ourselves when he brings her back to our home.
We are very happy with Blu’s progress."
Best wishes

Note from Ahimsa Rescue Foundation: Blu stayed with us here at Ahimsa Rescue Foundation for 5 months before a good family match was found for her. There is a lot of competition for a good home because of overbreeding and letting animals reproduce when there is already a surplus. Even pure bred dogs find it difficult to be adopted. Approx 25% of pets in shelters are pure bred animals. So please be a part of the solution to pet overpopulation and have your pet spayed and neutered before that first litter.

12/22/2023

'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse;
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there;

The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads;
And mamma in her 'kerchief, and I in my cap,
Had just settled down for a long winter's nap,

When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.

The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below,
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a miniature sleigh, and eight tiny reindeer,

With a little old driver, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment it must be St. Nick.
More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name;

"Now, DASHER! now, DANCER! now, PRANCER and V***N!
On, COMET! on CUPID! on, DONNER and BLITZEN!
To the top of the porch! to the top of the wall!
Now dash away! dash away! dash away all!"

As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky,
So up to the house-top the coursers they flew,
With the sleigh full of toys, and St. Nicholas too.

And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof
The prancing and pawing of each little hoof.
As I drew in my head, and was turning around,
Down the chimney St. Nicholas came with a bound.

He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his foot,
And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot;
A bundle of toys he had flung on his back,
And he looked like a peddler just opening his pack.

His eyes -- how they twinkled! his dimples how merry!
His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!
His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,
And the beard of his chin was as white as the snow;

The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth,
And the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath;
He had a broad face and a little round belly,
That shook, when he laughed like a bowlful of jelly.

He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf,
And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself;
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,
Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread;

He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
And filled all the stockings; then turned with a jerk,
And laying his finger aside of his nose,
And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose;

He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,
And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.
But I heard him exclaim, ere he drove out of sight,
HAPPY CHRISTMAS TO ALL, AND TO ALL A GOOD-NIGHT!

Jack's adoption update:)

"Jack is doing great. He is fitting in great with everyone. He is just wonderful and everyone loves him. Jack has really taken to my son Killian and was curled up around Killian's feet. We are crazy about him." Chelle from Tahlequah, OK

Jack's history: Jack came into Ahimsa Rescue Foundation after his owner became homeless and unable to keep him. Jack's owner had to move out of the house suddenly and could not take Jack her dog. Jack was left behind at the house, and neighbors agreed to look in on Jack and feed him.

When Jack arrived at Ahimsa he was very scared. He slowly warmed up to Ahimsa's animal loving volunteers who provide 100% of the care to the animals at Ahimsa. Jack was adopted to a wonderful home where he is very much loved and a part of the family.

There are many wonderful animals who find themselves homeless at no fault of their own. Please make adoption your first option!

Most homeless dogs and cats are not as fortunate as Jack because there are too many animals and not enough homes. Please have your pets spayed or neutered and encourage your pet owning friends to do the same.

Dear Ahimsa Rescue Foundation Family and Friends,

It’s that time of year again, and Ahimsa Rescue Foundation needs your help.

Ahimsa Rescue Foundation is pleased to announce our annual fundraiser to help homeless pets and reduce pet overpopulation.
Ahimsa Rescue’s mission is to place needy animals in responsible homes, provide humane education, encourage and facilitate spaying and neutering because there are not enough homes.

Ahimsa Rescue Foundation is also proud to be approaching our 8th year of hosting an onsite low cost spay/neuter clinic. Spaying and neutering pets is the first step to helping animals and the solution to pet overpopulation. We are in an area with an overwhelming need for these services. For low and moderate income rural homes, spaying and neutering pets is generally out of reach. This places animals at risk for unnecessary suffering from multiple litters and eventual abandonment. Our modest fees make it possible for owners to spay/neuter their pets.

Ahimsa’s goal is to reduce pet overpopulation and help end the needless suffering and death that homeless animals endure

We have seen the impact that Ahimsa Rescue Foundation has had over the last19 years. We will continue to provide education and leadership needed so people can take the first step in responsible pet ownership.

Ahimsa Rescue needs you to make a commitment to be a supporter. With a tax-deductible contribution, you will play a vital role to save homeless pets, reduce pet overpopulation and eliminate needless suffering that homeless animals endure.

Please make your 2023 gift now to help homeless animals at
Ahimsa Rescue Foundation.

Please accept our sincere thanks and appreciation for your support, time and consideration of this most worthwhile cause for our animals and community.
