MidWest Homes for Pets is in the path of totality for the solar eclipse!

If it's your first time witnessing a solar eclipse, it's probably your pet's first time, too. Experts agree that pets are more likely to become anxious or stressed by our strange behavior during the event than by the actual event.

As with any unfamiliar situation, the best way to prepare your pet is to provide them with safe spaces and safe boundaries whether you're watching from home or on the road.

Follow these quick and easy tips to prepare your pets, and
have a SPECTACULAR eclipse day!

In anticipation of Monday’s total solar eclipse, the big news for clients is that the eclipse likely won’t be any news at all to their pets.

This week we were happy to meet the staff and volunteers of the Marion-Grant County Humane Society! MidWest was able to donate a large supply of QuietTime pet beds -- a small dose of cozy comfort for each of their pets awaiting adoption. Just to the north of our HQ is the Blackford County Animal Shelter. They provide animal control for Blackford County, Hartford City, and Shamrock Lakes. We know Pam, Jacci, and the staff and volunteers work tirelessly to provide care for stray and surrendered pets and to find them new families and happy homes!

Recently we were able to assist in this mission with a donation of crates and treats. 🙂 We appreciate the work you do, BCAS!

Today we stopped by Muncie Animal Care and Services and Muncie ARF to drop off boxes of dog treats. While at ARF, we HAD to visit with Tank, Tonka, and Tink, who are all up for adoption. 💗

Did you know MidWest's Critter and Ferret Nation cages are used by rescues and shelters across the country to house pets awaiting adoption? And not just ferrets, chinchillas, degus, rats and other critters, but often cats and kittens as well! They provide a safe and secure environment that is easy to maintain and clean - a perfect space to keep them safe until they find their forever homes!

It's National Pet Day! 🥰 We thought we'd take a moment to share one of OUR favorite pets, Daisy! Daisy comes to the office with Joan, our ERP Systems Manager. Her morning routine is always the same - stop by every single office for a morning head rub and fervent tail wagging before jetting downstairs to settle in.😊 We hope your pets get all the snuggles, ear scratches, belly rubs, and treats they can handle on this special day!

Today we were delighted to help Ambassadors for God's Creatures with a donation of crates for their rescue. This amazing team helps reduce pet overpopulation in Madison and Delaware counties while empowering people to take responsibility for the care and well-being of their pets through programs and services like The Spay and Neuter Assistance Project. Great people doing great work for pets! Thank you Ambassadors for God's Creatures!

We got this message from sweet Duncan’s mom Courtney, who said he is thoroughly enjoying his new Cat Cube 🐾

“I recently purchased the curious cat cube for my furry little critter for Christmas.

I got home, set it on the floor to go get wrapping paper and when I came back the attached photo is what I found.

Thank you all for making such a great product. Duncan is a very picky cat and has been sleeping in it for hours!”
