Somehow this cutie patootie is going on his 4th month in the shelter 🥺 Hart is so loving & just wants to enjoy his life being outside, playing fetch, and not being confined. He loves walks and is getting better on leash, too. This sweetie is so deserving of a home & he’s so hopeful to not spend much more of his youth in the shelter. Darla is truly living her best life at doggy daycamp (AKA foster 😜). This girl has her 2 foster brothers wrapped around her paw, she loves playing with them! 🐾🐾 She also enjoys chasing the hose (and it tires her out!), catching bugs (her full time job), and going for adventures! Darla does great running around the yard off leash, but likely only in a rural home.
💗 Darla is super goofy and has a one-of-a-kind personality. She has lots of young dog energy still so needs a home willing to keep her exercised.💗 contact us if you think Darla could be your soul pup!

“Why the heck is this lady asking me to sit so much?!” Daiwa, probably 😝 Daiwa is such a loving, soft pup who will make such an amazing addition to someone’s family. She’s extremely sweet and just asks for a couple belly rubs every now & again. She pays no mind to the other shelter dogs. She walks pretty well on leash too!

Lately, we've been receiving many calls of missing pets/cats. This just hurts our hearts. Our biggest hope is that these lost animals will be reunited with their owners. Especially, lately, the amount of missing cats is quite large. Please review this very informative write up.

Letting Your Cat Go Outside?
Does Your Cat REALLY Need to Go Outdoors? Not if you want him to live a long life…
Letting your cat go outside may sound like a good idea since cats love to explore. But it’s a dangerous, and potentially deadly, practice. Here’s why…
We cat lovers will do just about anything to make our cats happy! It’s no surprise that many people want to let their cats outside. Cats love to explore and climb and chase squirrels! I totally understand, but let’s talk about the realities of “outside” cats.
Dangers Your Outside Cat Faces
There are many other dangers for those cats who are let outside, like other animals such as dogs and coyotes, and car traffic. Kids may shoot at cats with BB guns in “fun,” or subject them to other types of physical abuse.
Even if none of these things are a problem, there are other dangers out there.
People spray chemicals on their lawns which your kitty will get on his fur. When he grooms himself, he will ingest those chemicals and make him very sick.
People leave antifreeze in their open garages, which is again poisonous to cats.
Poison that has been set out for rats and mice could be eaten by your cat.
Even worse, there are people who will purposely poison our friendly felines as they roam around the neighborhood.
As if all that isn’t enough reason to keep your cat indoors, bear in mind that there are a host of diseases that outdoor cats are at risk for getting. Your cat could be exposed to and develop FIV, FIP, Feline Distemper, and even Upper Respiratory Infections.
Outdoor cats may also bring home ear mites, ringworm, mosquitos, and ticks, potentially also exposing their humans to ring worm or even Lime Disease from the ticks.
Cats who go outside have much shorter life expectancies. Outdoor cats have a life expectancy of only 2 to 5 years.
Those cats who get to live life completely indoors have an average life expectancy of 13 to 17 years, and many live well into their 20’s. It’s for those reasons that Linda and Rita’s kitties aren’t allowed outside, and they are PURRfectly fine with it.
Bring the Outdoor Fun Inside
Indoor environment enrichment is simple, and will keep your cat from missing the great outdoors so he can remain healthy and safe.
Offer your cat high places, such as cat shelving or cat trees, so he can climb up high. Most cats enjoy looking down at their surroundings, and it makes them feel safe.
Cat-safe plants, such as cat nip or valerian, add some outdoor appeal as well. (read our article: 8 Cat-Safe Plants)
Be sure to provide plenty of self-play toys, as well as interactive toys he can enjoy with you, and spend some one-on-one time with your cat everyday. Scratching poles and pads will keep those nails groomed.
And of course, don’t forget boxes! Cats love to hide and nap inside those delivery boxes, and they don’t cost a dime.
How Neighbors Feel About Your Outside Cat
When I was young, we had a neighbor who put dry cat food out every morning on her lawn for her own cats, and maybe a few strays. Of course the cats didn’t just stick to that yard! They visited everyone’s yards. One day my Dad went outside and found kitty prints on his brand new car! Oooh! He was hot! Those tiny nail scratches were not what he wanted on his sparkly new vehicle.
A few years ago, there was a beautiful orange male kitty visiting my house. I LOVE cats, and I have a special fondness those orange kitties! He was gorgeous. However, his presence outside upset all of my own cats inside. It was frustrating. He also had fleas and liked to lay on my step, right outside my back door. This increases the risk of me bringing fleas in to my cats. Do you know how expensive it is to flea treat 11 cats?
Cats Don’t Need to be Outside
While we love our cats and want them to have the world to explore, it simply isn’t safe out there. Your kitty can be very happy indoors as long as you provide good food and some fun toys.
Make sure he has a cat tree or some other place where he can climb up high. Give him some soft blankets to lay on and some some cubbies or even boxes to play and hide in.
Put up a shelf by your window so he can watch the birds outside.
He won’t be missing a thing!

How can you deny those puppy eyes?! 🥺 we sure can’t! Eramis still hasn’t given up on his forever home! We’re more optimistic now than ever for E to settle into a home with a single other non-dominant dog with a few, slow interactions beforehand.
E needs a home with a fenced in yard or out in the country. We would also fundraise to fence a yard space in for the right, committed adopters.
Eramis LOVES playing fetch, going for runs, swimming in the lake, and hanging with his hooman buddies! ♥️ he’s one special dude and we know there’s a family out there for him!

Hart says “Happy Friday!” 🥳 Hart’s ideal weekend includes going for a walk to get new sniffs in, playing some fetch, enjoying the sunshine, and hanging out with his special hoomans. He’s got pretty good taste if you ask us!

Ms. Darla is loving life in foster but can’t wait to meet her forever family! 🩷 Darla is the sweetest, goofiest girl you’ll find. She’ll always keep you smiling between moth hunting, her silly zoomies, & digging at her puppy bed to hide her snacks. Ms. Darla is definitely a soul pup, looking for her soul family 🥹
Darla has done a wonderful job off leash playing in the yard, although likely won’t be an option outside of a rural location. She also LOVES to play with other dogs after slow introductions. She does well on leash and makes a great hiking/walking buddy!

Please be on the look out. We've received a few calls this evening of a white cat with some grey circling around on Superior Street near Auto Value. We're told that she looks to be someone's cat and is distraught because she cannot find her way home. We did go out to try and find her, and to post some photos but no sightings. We are hoping to reunite this kitty with her family.

Our feline friend, October, has been in the shelter for a while, but hasn’t given up hope in finding the right home! 🎃👻 October enjoys spending her days on the catio, enjoying the sound of the birds and the warm sun. October is quite a picky lady and often moody, but aren’t we all?! 😈 she would do well in a home without young kids and will likely need to be the only cat. She hopes there’s a home out there that would allow her the peace and quiet and independence that she enjoys 🖤🖤

The only time Daiwa takes a break from smiling is when she stops to give you smooches 😘😍 this happy puppy girl is super easy going, she doesn’t care what you’re doing as long as she’s by your side 💗 Daiwa tends to be more relaxed but enjoys walks and does well on leash. She’s also good with other doggos!

Winter is here to teach you to stop & sniff the flowers every once in a while 🌸🌼 Winter is still available for adoption & we can’t believe it! She’s a young husky girl who does well with other dogs & kiddos. She walks well on leash and rides well in the car. She enjoys spending her days getting new sniffs in, having adventures, & sun bathing. As huskies do, she requires lots of exercise and mental stimulation. She hopes to find a family with a little patience as she’s still learning so many new things!
