🐾 During Animal Care Technician Appreciation Week, we want to shout out the leader of the team, Analisa!

As Kennel Manager, Analisa not only goes above and beyond for the animals in our care, but for the Animal Care Techs that look up to her. She is always willing to jump in to help others, and ensures new Staff and Volunteers get the training they need to uphold the highest standard of care for our Shelter pets.

ADOPTABLE OLDER PUPPY ALERT!

CHANDLER left here a tiny fluffy puppy and he is back as and extra large fluffy puppy 🐶!

He lived with his family for 8 months but as he grew he became too much for the adopters to handle. They had wonderful things to say about him to help him find his new home! CHANDLER is crate trained, housetrained, good at the vet's office, playful with visitors, good with children, went for walks daily and knows the commands sit, down, come and stay. He was obviously loved and cared for.

CHANDLER is still your typical puppy... energetic, bouncy, playful and loving ❤️! He likes to jump up on you but if you ignore the behavior he quickly gets down - just call it giving hugs! CHANDLER was great at playing fetch and it made him happy to RUN! He waited patiently for treats and took them gently. CHANDLER 😍 loved this cold snowy weather. This gentle giant is 10 months old and weighs 77 pounds. If you are looking for a active, loving doggo 🐕 CHANDLER is your boy!

We are seeking Volunteers for our Front Desk/Reception area at the Shelter! Responsibilities include:

✔ Greeting guests
✔ Triaging phone calls
✔ Uploading adoption applications..and so much more!

ADOPTABLE SENIOR CAT 🐈‍⬛️ALERT

SCOTT CALVIN came to the Shelter just after Thanksgiving and was given a Christmas themed name in the hopes he would find a home for the holidays. He had seen some rough times in his 7 years as is evident by his patchy fur, ear infection, missing teeth and missing ear tip. SCOTT CALVIN may not be the handsomest cat, but he sure does have personality!

SCOTT CALVIN is a bit stressed by the noise of the Shelter and he would like more freedom to roam around. When you stop in to visit him he doesn't want you to leave....or maybe he just wants to leave with you! Easy solution is drop some Temptations down on the floor and he starts noshing away! In the pictures 📸 we were holding the bag of treats to get his attention and he gave us his best face, just anxious to scoop up the tasty treats. SCOTT CALVIN can be a bit spicy and a bit vocal (but aren't we all that way at times.

If you're looking for a cool cat with a big personality, SCOTT CALVIN is your pick. He likes attention, playing with toys and he needs more space than his bonding room to roam. Adopt SCOTT CALVIN and let him enjoy your home and your ❤️.

ADOPTABLE DOG 🐕 ALERT

JOLA always looks very serious like she is thinking about the world's troubles but she's really wondering is if you have a treat!
This 2 year old female is sweet, gentle and loving once she feels comfortable with you. She is a bend over to pet dog unless you teach her to jump up onto the 🛋 couch to cuddle with you. JOLA came from the warmer southern states but she is acclimating to our cold weather quite well. JOLA walks calmly on the leash and waits patiently for treats. She would be a wonderful companion.... come meet her!

ADOPTABLE OLDER PUPPY 🐶 ALERT

KEETA ❤️ loves the snow ❄️! She dipped her nose in it, ran around and even sat in the ❄️ snow! KEETA is a perfect 🥰 dog for this cold blustery winter. KEETA is a 7 month old female that weighs 33 pounds. She came to us from a warm southern state so she is really, really happy when she can be running out in the play yards. With the dark fur on her back you won't loose her in a snow ❄️ storm. KEETA is your typical joyful puppy and she has some manners because she would sit on command for us. Bring your boots, mittens and hat to play with KEETA outside....oh and don't for get a leash so you can take her home🏡.

HONEY and GINGER are flavorful sweet and spicy foods or 3 year old female 🐕 🐕! This two are so comical together. The leap and bound just like deer in field. They love to play and are as curious as a toddler in toy store. They can be cautious and depend on each other for their sense of self confidence. HONEY is 17 pounds and GINGER Is 20 pounds. If you are looking to add a little joy to your life these two will surely do that. Come meet these two girl and you definitely will fall in love 🥰.

We are absolutely elated to announce that Humane Indiana has received grant funding from ASPCA to support our TNR efforts!

Thanks to this grant, we will be able to provide a limited number of FREE TNR services to clients in Gary, Hammond, and South Lake County. This funding will make an incredible impact on our essential work controlling the community cat populations in these highly concentrated areas. ADOPTABLE OLDER KITTEN 😸 ALERT

CUDDLES was demonstrating some new cat yoga stretches for me when I went in to visit with him. CUDDLES is actually the perfect 🥰 name for this 9 month old male kitten. It was hard to get pictures 📸 of him because he just wanted to cuddle! CUDDLES is in a bonding room with NOODLE who looks just like him but she is only 6 monthes old. CUDDLES didn't mind being held for a bit but he really wanted was to be next to me while I pet him. CUDDLES, NOODLE, their mom and other kittens lived with a family but the family found they couldn't care for all of the cats so they surrendered CUDDLES and NOODLE. Come meet CUDDLES and NOODLE they are shy at first but warm up quickly.
