To prepare for the unexpected, keep your pets in mind as you follow these essential tips:

-Make a plan.
-Build an emergency kit.
-Stay informed.

If you have a plan in place for you and your pets, you'll encounter less difficulty, stress, and worry when making decisions during an emergency. Here are key things to include in your plan:

🔹 Know what to do with your pet during an evacuation. Many public shelters and hotels do not allow pets inside. Find a safe place where you can take your pets before disasters and emergencies happen.

🔹 Develop a buddy system. Plan with neighbors, friends, or relatives to ensure someone can care for or evacuate your pets if you are unable to do so.

🔹 Have copies of your pet’s vaccination record, and make sure your pet is microchipped. Keep your address and phone number up-to-date and include an emergency contact outside your immediate area.

🔹 Keep contact information for your local emergency management office, animal control office, and shelters on hand in case you become separated from your pet.

📈 Why are glucose curves important for diabetic pets like Wooska? 🤔 Well, think of them as a roadmap to managing his condition effectively! Here's how they help:

After completing her undergraduate studies at the University of Tennessee, Dr. Parks pursued her dream of becoming a veterinarian, graduating from the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine in 2016. 🎓 Her journey led her back to Murfreesboro, where she served as an associate veterinarian before realizing her dream of opening Happy Paws Veterinary Center in July of 2023. 🏥

🐾 April is Heartworm Awareness Month! 🐾 Did you know that heartworm disease is a serious and potentially fatal condition for our furry friends? Here's a quick rundown and infographic of the heartworm life cycle:

1️⃣ Adult heartworms live in the heart and pulmonary arteries of infected pets.
2️⃣ When an infected pet (like our beloved dogs and cats) has a mosquito bite, microscopic baby worms, called microfilariae, are transmitted.
3️⃣ These microfilariae develop into infective larvae within the mosquito.
4️⃣ When the infected mosquito bites another pet, it transmits these larvae into the bloodstream, where they mature into adult heartworms.

😱 Scary, right? That's why yearly testing and prevention are crucial! Regular testing helps detect heartworm infection early when treatment is most effective. Plus, prevention methods like monthly medications can stop heartworm larvae from developing into adults, keeping our furry pals safe and healthy.
