Loss of Farmland
Not a pretty picture, but a very real one. Two years ago, our farm was placed under a flood zone. Since then, acres of farmland around us have been sold and developed, leaving what remains to bear the brunt of all the runoff. With the ground beyond saturated and another big rain event coming this weekend, we desperately need a break for things to dry out.Cold and wet conditions are some of the hardest on animals—not to mention the 2,000+ seedlings and plants we have outside. Please keep us in your prayers. This is the heartbreaking reality of losing farmland to development. 🌧️💔 #SaveFarmland #FarmingStruggles #WeatherWoes
How I Transformed 1,200 Sq Ft of Grass into a Wildflower Paradise—on a Budget! Let’s just start by saying—I’m cheap. Not always by choice, but by necessity. This project took me over a year—8 months of prep and 4 months of stunning blooms—but it was 100% worth it!Here’s what I used (for free or cheap):✅ Cardboard – My local co-op has thin sheets that are perfect and free.✅ Mulch – Find a local arborist or tree company; they’ll often deliver a load for free.✅ Manure – Get some rescue animals, and you’ll have plenty of natural fertilizer! The Step-by-Step Process:1️⃣ Early spring (or anytime): Mow the grass as low as possible.2️⃣ Cover the entire area with cardboard (weed suppression).3️⃣ Dump mulch and manure on top.4️⃣ Cover with a heavy-duty tarp (or if you’re like me, just use whatever you have—I used weed barrier).5️⃣ Leave it alone as long as possible (the longer, the better!).6️⃣ In Zone 7b, I put down a cover crop in the fall.7️⃣ Tilled in May (I’m mostly no-till, but for big projects, I make an exception).8️⃣ Planted sunflowers, cosmos, & zinnias—they thrive in poor soil! And just like that, I had a cut flower garden instead of a boring lawn! 🌿🌻Now, I stick to no-till methods—hand tilling or raking when needed. It’s low-maintenance, budget-friendly, and great for the environment!Would you try this? Walking with the goat
When you don’t have a dog to take on a walk. You take the goat.
Let’s do it …
As the year comes to a close, we could pause to reflect on the journey we’ve taken, the challenges we’ve overcome… but honestly, shouldn’t we do that all the time?Cheers to living life to the fullest—doing what makes you happy, brings you joy, and not giving a damn about the rest. Challenges will come, ups and downs are inevitable, but in the end, it’s all about what you make of it.Wishing you all a Happy New Year! 🎉#LiveFully #NewYear2025
What IF …
No snow on the ground but we can dream … Happy Winter solstice
What if we traded the rush for connection, the hustle for rest, and the chaos for moments that truly matter? This season, let’s choose presence over pressure.”

One of the hardest parts of the holiday season is to not get sucked into the hustle and bustle. Here is your reminder to pause.
Share with a friend that needs that reminder.

Just a reminder from Mother Nature to pause and soak in her beauty.
