Staying in the hospital away from pet parents can be scary for some pets. While we do our best to make each stay as comfortable as possible, Miss Avery was feeling a tad anxious in her kennel awaiting her dental cleaning. Jenna put on some Bluey for her to watch and she calmed right down. 🥹🥰

Please share with any Rutherford County families that have 4-12 graders!

My name is Michael Shirley, and I am the new volunteer leader for the Rutherford County 4-H Poultry Club. For those that do not know me, I was a 4-H agent in the Rutherford County office from 2007-2015 before leaving to teach high school agriculture in Rutherford County Schools. I am now the practice manager of Family Pet Health which I own with my wife, Dr. Amy Shirley.

I am very excited to be volunteering as the leader for one of my favorite 4-H projects. If you have ever participated in the 4-H chick chain or considered raising a few show chickens for fun, this will be the group for you! Please help me spread the word about the Poultry Club.

Meetings will take place at Family Pet Health in our community room starting at 6:30 pm. Our address is 3907 Richard Reeves Dr. Murfreesboro, TN 37127

April 8 American Poultry Association breeds and shows Poultry Showmanship
July 8 How to select chickens for Chick Chain show
August 2 Rutherford County Livestock and Poultry Show - We will have a poultry show for all breeds along with a poultry showmanship contest. This will take place in conjunction with the 4-H Chick Chain show and auction.

As you can see, we have a pretty cool year already planned. I hope you will consider joining us, or passing this information on to someone else that may be interested.

Dr. Johnathon Dunn is originally from Memphis. He has had a passion for animals since he could talk and has known he wanted to be a veterinarian since kindergarten. He received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at The University Of Tennessee where he focused his studies on exotic species and has worked with many board certified zoo and zoo companion animal veterinarians. He is currently a member of American Avian Veterinarians, American Reptile and Amphibian Veterinarians, and American Exotic Mammal Veterinarians as well as being Fear Free avian certified. 👏
