Please remember with the spooky fun coming up this week we want to take precautions and keep the sweet treats away from our furry friends to avoid toxic exposure to chocolate or xylitol, as well as pancreatitis.

We have also received just a couple more photos for our HOWL-O-WEEN costume contest. Please keep sending them in as we have not received nearly enough to choose from. Send submission to [email protected] the dead line is midnight on the 31st.

With the weather getting cooler most pet owners are starting to work on car maintenance getting ready for the winter months. Here is some information to consider while prepping your vehicle.

Antifreeze can be extremely dangerous to dogs and cats, and even a small amount can be fatal. As little as half a teaspoon of antifreeze per pound of an animals body weight can be fatal. If left untreated, ingestion of ethylene glycol (ingredient in anti-freeze) is fatal.

Pets often come into contact with antifreeze after it leaks from a car radiator or is spilled during refilling.
Symptoms include excessive thirst and urination within 30 minutes of ingestion, rapid heartbeat, uncoordinated movement, seizures, weakness, and even coma.

If you think your pet has come into contact with anti-freeze call the clinic right away or head to your nearest veterinary emergency room or urgent care.

October is Black Cat Awareness Month,

It is also Adopt-A-Dog or Adopt-A-Shelter-Dog Month.

The month of October is especially difficult for black cats and kittens as they already tend to have lower adoption rates then cats with other fur colors.

Since 1981, American Humane Society has celebrated “Adopt-a-Dog Month” each October in an effort to help the estimated 3-4 million animals waiting in shelters every year get the loving, forever homes that they deserve.
