Your pet has probably gotten a Distemper vaccine at some point in their lives. For dogs, this can be abbreviated as: DA2PP/DAPP/DAPPL. For cats, this is abbreviated as: FVRCP.

Read our latest blog on Distemper to learn more about the disease these vaccines protect against at: https://www.socalvetgroup.com/blog/medical-condition-spotlight-distemper

There is admittedly a lot of controversy surrounding declawing cats. What is it? It is an elective surgery done by amputating a cat’s toe at the third bone on each of their toes to eliminate the “claw” portion. People might choose to have this done if they are concerned about their belongings ...

Cones, also known as Elizabethan Collars or E-Collars for short, are not the end of the world. I promise. But Liz, does my pet really have to wear this? Yes, and for the length of time the veterinarian suggests--even if it seems like a long time and even if they seem to be healing well before then

Bob Barker once said: "Spay and Neuter Your Pets, Folks!"

Here is a blog discussing the decision:
https://www.socalvetgroup.com/blog/why-spay-or-neuter

There seems to be a lot of strong feelings about spaying and neutering pets. Anyone in the veterinary field, however, will tell you that spaying and neutering your pet is the responsible thing to do if you do not plan to breed them.  For male pets, they are liable to impregnate an unknown

What's your favorite part of being your pet's parent?

11/21/2021

November is Pet Cancer Awareness month. It's always a good idea to pat down your pet every once and awhile. If you feel something different, you'll know. It never hurts to come in to get something checked out by the doctor, just to be safe. The earlier cancer is caught, the easier it is to treat or remove.
