Kittens 2 for $10! Several all with different personalities and quirks.
Our goal: to find all of our animals loving, forever homes. We hold several fundraisers throughout the year.
The Muscatine Humane Society operates as an animal shelter and a city pound for stray animals as well as owner surrendered animals in our community and surrounding areas. Our mission is to educate the public about the importance of and dire necessity to spay and neuter their pets, to prevent the needless suffering that follows overpopulation. Concurrently, the Society provides a safe haven for los
t or abandoned animals until their owners or a new home can be obtained. The humane society is a privately owned non-profit organization which is funded by personal donations. Without fundraising the humane society would not be able to launch any new programs or fund new projects.

Who knew “Ramen” could be a workout? 🍜💪 I had some lunchtime snuggles with this guy and he burned some calories chasing string in the process.

Kitty update! So glad this one has worked out!
--------------------
We adopted Druzilla (now named Zilla) about a month ago. We were told that she was born in the shelter, as she’s only a year old, and that she was adopted once before and returned shortly after. We were also warned that she wasn’t the nicest kitty and didn’t like humans very much. Knowing all of this, we still adopted here because every kitty deserves a loving home. She lived under our couch for the first week as she was very scared of us, then after that she slowly started to come out and let us pet her. Now, a month later, she is a totally different kitty and loves attention, playing, and snuggling. Thank you Muscatine Humane Society!

Kitty Update!
--------------------
Hello!
Thank you so much for the easy and great adoption of A.P. (Anderson Pooper)! He is the best kitty! When I got him home, his big brother Rory was not too thrilled at first, and followed A.P. around hissing at him, but A.P just looked at him like “Hi big brother! What’s up?” 😸 The hissing lasted for about a day and a half and now they seem to be on good terms with each other! 😁A.P. Is full of love, and is always purring! He is super sweet! Here is a picture of him (on the left) watching his big brother Rory (on the right), trying to figure out first why Rory was so interested in the light reflecting off my phone onto the wall, and then why he was so interested in the sunlight reflection on the floor while I was taking a picture of him. The look A.P had on his face was priceless! 🤣 I’m so glad to have found A.P.! Him and Rory both make my heart so full! Thanks again!

Kitty update! 🐈❤️

Hello!
Just wanted to give an update on Tigger! We adopted Tigger (or Tigs sometimes) June 15th, 2024. For being 11 years old, he still has some S***K. We get why he was named Tigger now, because he’ll jump on anything! Tigger is your typical cat, he’s more cat-like than our two other boy cats, so we think he’s been mentoring them. The boys get along well with him, even started cleaning each other!
Tigger is a dapper gentleman who is very respectful, grateful, and loving. He couldn’t get enough of us for a while, he still follows me everywhere I go in the house, just to keep an eye on me. Just a few things off of Tiggers list of likes: catnip, cuddling, toys, scratching posts, boxes; not so much for treats but will lick his bowl clean of wet food.
From,
Katie and Tim Warren
Hey y'all, Ducky's in the house! This little dude is sweeter than pie, but what's even sweeter is if he finds his furever home ASAP!

Hey, if anybody happens to see this old man give me a call. We live at 3rd and Locust.
I made the mistake of letting him out before bed and he ran into the night after a squirrel, with his leash on; if this happens, I put out a bowl of food and he wanders. home.
I'm going to walk the neighborhood and see if his leash is caught on something.
You only get three words and go!

Eightball went to his furever home and he’s doing great!
———————————
Hello,
Eightball has been the most loving cat. Started out a little nervous given he’s never been in a house. He has the loudest purr box I’ve ever heard and loves to play. He loves to rub up on my arms and legs for attention and likes the run behind the couch from one end to the other to peek at us. He’s successfully pottied in his box and ate this morning a little dry and wet. Thank you guys again for the great adoption experience. 🙂
Thank you,
Ashton Coder

We are surrounded by so many great people. ❤️
The Mitchell (Harper, Abner) and Huston (Stella, Sloan) families held a lemonade stand and choose the Muscatine Humane Society as the recipient!
Walter and Bernice did their part too! ❤️❤️❤️
We had visitors today. The L-M Cross Country team stopped down after practice for some puppy therapy. Six dogs had the opportunity to get some fresh air and stretch their legs.

Dogs have a sense of time. At the end of the day when it’s lights out the dogs don’t bother getting wound up. They all continue to nap. Except this one. #houdini #domesticatedhound #shelterdog #muscatinehumanesociety
You have GOT to come adopt Magic. He may not have a boujee color pattern but his loving personality is worth all the tea china! [email protected]
4 years ago this little cutie came in with a cootie! Chris fixed her all up! ——————— Gross but cool. This poor girl had one when she came in. It took time but another made it’s way through to make an air hole. She was not in any pain during the extraction nor did she put up any fuss. Once it started to exit she did have a squeak of relief. The hole was flush with antibiotics and it’ll all be mended soon. “Cuterebra eggs are inhaled, swallowed, or enter the eyes or ears of rodents returning to their burrows (or dogs and cats sniffing around). Once inside their host, the eggs hatch and the larvae burrows though muscle and tissue to form a burrow with a round “breathing hole” in the animals skin.”
You CAN make a difference. 🥰 Thank you to, Curry Automotive Inc., for the donation of airtime to spread awareness for the Muscatine Humane Society.
ADOPTED!! ————— Pablo had a case of the zoomies this morning 😅 We’ve had comments that he doesn’t show well in the kennel. Never judge a book by its cover. He’s a great dog. Pretty low key and chill. Still pic in comments! [email protected] 563-263-7358 Please share!
