We are currently NOT breeding any litters but we are very happy to give you contact information for other reputable breeders. You can expect an application process with all puppies. The goal is ALWAYS to place a puppy in the perfect forever home. We have been contacted multiple times by families with problem dogs or those wanting their dogs trained to hunt. We train our own dogs and have worked for two decades with trainers who are willing to train us, the owners and handlers. We continue to work with trainers regularly. If you are experiencing a situation with you dog that is beyond your capability to handle, please contact a professional trainer. We can help point you in the right direction if you live in the Quad City (Iowa/Illinois) area.

Pax wrapped up 2024 with some scent work and agility fun! He now lacks just one buried Q to finish his AKC Novice Scentwork title, and the had a great day at the SCKC with first Qs and first place in both Novice STD and Open JWW! Looking forward to more fun in 2025!

D**k and I had a great day at the NW2 trial in Winterset. While we just missed earning our title (boys will be boys - those exteriors can be tough!), we had so much fun! D**k started off just a bit distracted in vehicles - a pen of peacocks was nearby and he was veeerrrry interested! He pulled himself together and found all three hides. Interiors 1 was AWESOME! The judge was gushing over his off leash search and how he followed the swirling scent back to source. He earned a Pronounced for that search! Our next search was containers, in which we have struggled with distractors and we've been working on at home for the last 4 weeks. 1 hide, 4 distractors - he NAILED it! The judge was gushing over him again, saying she'd take him home (and that he was so handsome!). Another Pronounced search. Then - du du duuum! - exteriors on grass. First time. He began by blasting off the start line after standing with his nose in the wind. I followed at a brisk trot, he stopped to sniff some out-of-bounds weeds (just past the hide, we later learned) and . . . lifted his leg!!! ARGGGHHH! He was too quick for me - NQ, left the search area in disgrace. It was almost a beautiful point-to-point search . . . . His final search, interior 2, was another lovely search. I was disappointed that we didn't come home with a ribbon, but sooooo pleased with how my boy searched.

Bruce and Trey were also close to NW2, just one missed hide (also in exteriors - toughest search for everyone). They did come home with a second place in vehicles and 3 pronounced searches! They are developing into a fantastic team and it's been an pleasure to watch them learn together. My prediction is that they will go as far as they want to in this game.

Most exciting for the day, our friend Sherrie Anderson and her adorable Vizsla girl, Izzi, earned their NW2 on their first try! Fantastic! Way to go Team Izzi!

To anyone who thinks Scent Work is not an activity that will tire our your dog . . . .

Congratulations to Team Trey! The boys earned their NACSW NW1 title today! Great job, guys!

Oh, Pax! You build up my hopes then send them crashing down. After a great startline stay and solid connection through the one run we did at the last trial we attended, I was hoping we'd turned the corner. Today proved that it was otherwise. At a different venue, but one he was familiar with, two runs - the first we did have a shaky stay, but when released he was off like a bat out of hell all over the place. The second run was worse, no stay, no come, just a walk of shame. We did all the things before we went into the ring, but he was so high when we got in there I could not keep his attention for more than a split second. Maybe by the time he's D**k's age (6) he'll outgrow his ADHD. For now, we are back to square one. D**k's agility skills have been steadily improving, so maybe it's time for Pax to sit on the sideline for a while . . . .

Consoled myself by making chicken/mushroom enchiladas to put in the freezer for work meals, then tried my hand at a completely from scratch mole sauce, using "Holy Mole" peppers from the garden trough, and featuring the last of last year's homegrown cayenne pepper powder and as well as the last jar of homegrown/canned Roma's. OMG, it's outstanding! I tweaked the recipe just a bit to take the edge of the bitterness, and it's damn near perfect! Saving the seeds from the peppers for next year's crop!

Looks innocent doesn't he, the little brat!

Thank you, Sharla Tiffany Glick, for these great shots of the little man weaving! Awesome!

We had a great time at the SKCK Scent Work trial in Davenport this morning, even if we weren't as successful as we hoped. Our lack of training (time and can't get into classes - stooopid job!) showed today but I'm so proud of my boys. Pax got his first Novice Buried Q, not bad for only having seen those silly boxes with sand in them once or twice before today, and long ago. D**k got his first Excellent Buried Q, and didn't destroy any of the containers - SCORE! We've been struggling with him trying to keep his paws off containers, slow headway being made! They both struggled in their second runs with the swirling winds. Pax was totally distracted by the smells in the air, D**k got two hides but just couldn't find the third and told me there were no more. Then he got a little distracted and slightly pissy. When shown that last hide he was still like, "nope, you're wrong." We weren't the only teams that struggled (only one Novice B dog Q'd in Pax's class of 5), and we know what we need to work on - wait for the next windy day, boys, we'll be playing outside!

Second photo showing Pax napping between classes. Goober!

Happy 13th Birthday to our Brody! He's doing well, tells the youngsters where they can get off every day! We wish Happy Birthday to the rest of the Celtic litter - Hazel, Zola, Quin, Rylie and Carly, proud that you all made it to your teenage years!

Missing my Sorcha so much today, too many precious memories coming up on Facebook. I'm sure she's having a great time having zoomies with sisters Tikka and Mia, and Momma Morgan is definitely joining in as well. 💔💔💔💔

D**k is just loving playing the "smelly" game! Today we attended the CPE trial at the Quad City Dog Center for just one class and he nailed it, first place in Level 3 Interior to finish his CCSS-L3 title! Now we need to learn additional scents for both UKC and CPE for the next levels in each. I think he's up for it.

Pax and I had a lot of fun at the Quad City Dog Obedience Club's obedience trials at the Amana Cluster this weekend! Pax exceeded my expectations with 4/4 qualifying rounds - 2 Novice B Obedience legs and 2 Beginner Novice Obedience legs, which finished his BN title! We were far from perfect, but I see little improvements as we progress. Today he was much more relaxed and seemed to really be enjoying himself. We will definitely be working on our heeling skills!

Thanks to the QCDOC for a truly enjoyable trial experience and to judges Randy Capsel and Shirley Spall for your support and encouragement of the Novice participants.

*Randy, one of these days Pax and I WILL finish a title with you as our judge - agility AND obedience!*

Staycay day 5 - D**k and I returned to the UKC trial at Fur Better Fur Worse Dog Training and the D**kmeister added a Superior Nosework title to his accomplishments! He really enjoys this game! Trey and Bruce attended as well and earned their first two advanced legs. What a fun weekend for all the boys!

Staycay Day #4 (yesterday) - D**k and Pax played with the smells today and had a blast! Pax was 4/4, finishing his UKC Advanced Nosework title with a couple of placements to boot! He was a very good boy. D**k is returning to the trial today, more updates on him later. Bruce and Trey completed their Novice Nosework title and will be starting their Advanced journey today.

We wrapped up the day with great friends, pizza, champagne and trying our hand at tie-dying. How did 5 people our age ever NOT tie-dye anything? Pictures will (maybe) be posted this evening of the finished products, I'm betting they'll at least be good for a laugh!

Thanks to Joanne Soyke, judges Melanie Herbst and Johnette Ulch, and all the volunteers at Fur Better Fur Worse Dog Training for another well-run trial and fun searches! See you all later this morning!

Pax earned his 3rd Q in Intermediate Rally Obedience today at the ICDOC trial in Cedar Rapids, and he finished with a bang, scoring 100! He was one of three 100 scores and came in second in time. We celebrated by meeting up with Travis, Sandy and Walt at Big Grove, where he was rewarded with a lunch of chicken strips. We went back to the trial later as we had entered both trials, and he, well . . . at least he got a bonus Q, lol! He was pretty tired, which really brings out the naughty in him, and hey, there were toys out there! Thanks to judge Robin Botelho, and everyone at ICDOC for putting on a very well run trial. It takes a village!

We celebrated the "Day After D**k's Birthday" at the QCDC playing CPE Scentwork.

It was pretty obvious Pax had not had any training for quite some time as he was 1/3 - just wasn't feeling it during vehicles, lots of other interesting smells and false alerted x 2. Didn't seem that interested in the hide when it was pointed out to him, either. Then he did a nice job in Interior Level 2 and earned a 3rd place. Then back outside for exterior - the previous dog had pooed in the search area so extra challenge, and I guess he thought it was okay to use the search area for a potty as, after he found one hide, he peed. ARGH!!!!

D**k had a blast, was complimented on how "smooth" his Level 3 Interior search was and earned 1st place! He then went into Level 3 Container x 2 - was moving out quickly and hit the first two hides, then false alerted on the third. Lots of air movement in the venue, so we'll work more on going to source. His second round was good for another Q.

Trying to figure how to keep up with training these guys is getting harder. I'll soon be starting back at obedience class with Pax, which is unfortunately the same night/same time as nose work class with D**k. No nose work class available at Pax's level offered at a time I can attend, so both will be training at home and using local trials as "class." Then there's agility - no classes nearby that I'm able to attend, and I can't afford frequent private lessons, so we'll be doing that on our own as well. Hopefully, we'll be able to hold some semblance of training together until I'm retired and have more time - at least that's the plan!
