Brandiwine Sport Dogs

Brandiwine Sport Dogs Life Is Short, Play With Your Dog! We are proud members of the Vizsla Club of America and love to showcase this wonderful breed. WE DO NOT TRAIN DOGS!

All of our dogs have experience/titles in - conformation, agility, obedience, rally, hunt tests, scent work. If you are interested in learning more about this versatile breed, we can help! We are currently NOT breeding any litters but we are very happy to give you contact information for other reputable breeders. You can expect an application process with all puppies. All breeding dogs are health

checked (OFA/Penn hips/elbows, cardiac, thyroid and eyes) prior to being accepted into any breeding program and are sold with a health guarantee and a contract. The goal is ALWAYS to place a puppy in the perfect forever home. We have been contacted multiple times by families with problem dogs or those wanting their dogs trained to hunt. We train our own dogs and have worked for two decades with trainers who are willing to train us, the owners and handlers. We continue to work with trainers regularly. If you are experiencing a situation with you dog that is beyond your capability to handle, please contact a professional trainer. We can help point you in the right direction if you live in the Quad City (Iowa/Illinois) area.

Happiest of Birthdays to our Brody! Now that he's 14 he wanted a driver's permit, but since his feet still don't reach the pedals he had to be satisfied with a "cerveza" and a huge cookie, which he did not share with this brothers and sister. He's doing great, extremely NAUGHTY ever since we got his arthritis pain under control. Worst (or best?) counter surfer ever - and we couldn't be happier to see him this way. Still so missing my Sorcha every single day, but she's in good company at the bridge with Momma Morgan, Quin and Tikka, and her BFF gray dog Sky is probably still letting her push him around. Happiest of birthdays to the rest of the Celtic litter - Carly, Zola, Hazel and Riley - hope you all got toys and treat galore, and lots of extra scritches and cuddles.

In other news, Wren is being retrieved from the vet after having a hernia repair today. All is well!

Time to catch up! Life has been so crazy lately, but things will change very soon, because . . . . RETIREMENT! Lots more fun with red boys (and a spotted girl) coming up!

Some fantastic photos from Mike Lifer at our National Agility trial! We may not have earned many Qs, but came home with some great shots!

Pax and I finally worked as a team at the SCKC agility trial and came home with his Open Jumpers title! He was only entered in JWW as we are working through contact issues. His first Excellent Jumpers run was also very nice, he just decided that weaves were optional. I'm so looking forward to time to train, can't wait to see where we'll go! Guess what we did!?!

Introducing Wren, the latest addition to our pack. When we saw her face on the Muscatine Humane Society page, we knew we had to bring her home. She's supper sweet, able to deal with all the boys and so very smart! She's got a lot to learn and needs to put on a few pounds, but she's fitting right in.

The Friday after we returned from Nationals, Pax entertained around 200 5-6 year olds at the Muscatine Kiddie Barnyard, but on at the Muscatine Agricultural Learning Center and sponsored by the local FFA. Pax spent six hours doing obedience and agility demos, then had every child come up to him, ask to pet the dog, let him sniff their hand and then scratch him under the chin. His tail didn't stop wagging all day! We've got the Best Dog in the World!

The boys and Andi had a great time at the Vizsla Club of America National Events in Omaha and South Sioux City, NE. Andi was the trial chair for the National Agility Trial, as well as two days of all-breed trials the weekend before the national event. Pax then competed in Obedience, Rally and Scent Work, D**k played in Scent Work. They both finished up the week with a turn around the conformation ring. Comments are with the photos. Agility photos are still to come.

D**k and I had a great day at the NW2 trial in Winterset. While we just missed earning our title (boys will be boys - those exteriors can be tough!), we had so much fun! D**k started off just a bit distracted in vehicles - a pen of peacocks was nearby and he was veeerrrry interested! He pulled himself together and found all three hides. Interiors 1 was AWESOME! The judge was gushing over his off leash search and how he followed the swirling scent back to source. He earned a Pronounced for that search! Our next search was containers, in which we have struggled with distractors and we've been working on at home for the last 4 weeks. 1 hide, 4 distractors - he NAILED it! The judge was gushing over him again, saying she'd take him home (and that he was so handsome!). Another Pronounced search. Then - du du duuum! - exteriors on grass. First time. He began by blasting off the start line after standing with his nose in the wind. I followed at a brisk trot, he stopped to sniff some out-of-bounds weeds (just past the hide, we later learned) and . . . lifted his leg!!! ARGGGHHH! He was too quick for me - NQ, left the search area in disgrace. It was almost a beautiful point-to-point search . . . . His final search, interior 2, was another lovely search. I was disappointed that we didn't come home with a ribbon, but sooooo pleased with how my boy searched.

Bruce and Trey were also close to NW2, just one missed hide (also in exteriors - toughest search for everyone). They did come home with a second place in vehicles and 3 pronounced searches! They are developing into a fantastic team and it's been an pleasure to watch them learn together. My prediction is that they will go as far as they want to in this game.

Most exciting for the day, our friend Sherrie Anderson and her adorable Vizsla girl, Izzi, earned their NW2 on their first try! Fantastic! Way to go Team Izzi!

To anyone who thinks Scent Work is not an activity that will tire our your dog . . . .
