Update on Norman! He is now up to date on all vaccines and parasite testing AND recieved a Proheart 12 injection so he is good on his heartworm prevention for a whole year! This boy is looking for a lap to snuggle in and an unlimited supply of toys (don't worry, he will come with a toy starter pack 😉). If available, he would also love a couch where he can sit and watch the birds . If interested in adopting this love bug, please contact our office!

Remember sweet Norman who is looking for his forever home? Well, we have learned that he likes to go for walks and does GREAT on a leash- no pulling! Dr. Graham has been spending time walking him on her lunch hour and he loves it. If you are looking for a snuggle bug who LOVES toys and is great on leash, look no further! Norman is your guy! (Norman's only request is that he goes to a home with no kids, or kids of high school age!)

This is a snapshot of Pound Buddies stats for the month of May and it's very eye opening. This is LOCAL, right here in our own backyard.

Here are the lessons we can ALL learn:

1. Put identification on your dog! A collar with a name tag and UP TO DATE information to reach you if needed.
2. Better yet, MICROCHIP, MICROCHIP, MICROCHIP! Is your dog micro chipped already? Make sure your contact information is up to date with the microchip company. Can't afford a microchip? Reach out to Operation Solo - they hold FREE microchip clinics often.
3. Last but not least, PLEASE spay and neuter your pets.

Last week we went out to celebrate Toni graduating Baker College's Veterinarian Technician program but also to say goodbye as she and her family are moving out of state 😭. This girl has been a ROCKSTAR! Not only did she graduate this month, she and her family welcomed a brand new baby at the end of March! We are so very sad to see her go but also super excited to see where her new journey takes her!

Our good friend Norman is officially up for adoption!!🐾

About a month ago Norman was attacked by another dog and ended up with extensive wounds that warranted a lengthy stay at the vet.

At this point he really should be on the payroll at Glenpark Animal Hospital where he considers himself employee of the week, every week. He has been nothing but cooperative for all of his bandage changes and blood draws, and really did his best to make all the other patients look like dramatic sissies.

Norman was fostered for 2 weeks of his treatment with other dogs (large and small), cats, guinea pigs, and a gecko. The only thing in the foster home that he wasn't a fan of was the little kid. We can't say we blame him. Kids are loud, fast, and unpredictable. Plus they ask a lot of questions and sometimes they even smell bad. Only a home with adults please.

Ironically, Norman adores other dogs. He is happiest with a dog friend, and tolerates being left home better if he is not alone.

Norman has not shown any resource guarding of any kind.

He knows sit, shake, and lay down, plus he LOVES fetch and even gives the ball back!

He seems to be completely potty trained, and doesn't chew things he's not supposed to.

Now for the best part. Norman is 80 lbs, but wants to cuddle in your lap like a shihtzu. He loves to snuggle with any willing participant. Even a cat if it comes to that.

Norman is being fostered by the staff at Glenpark Animal Hospital and is up for adoption through Pound Buddies. If you are interested in meeting Norman, please message or call the office or contact Operation Solo ❤️

Sometimes going to the vet can be scary. Buttons 🐶 came along to keep Shelly 🐢 company 😍

"Bilboa" our clinic Boa, is getting so big! She has TRIPLED in size since we adopted her a year ago. All we did was adjust her basic husbandry to provided appropriate housing and food 🐍

Creepy crawlies, beware! When you bring your pet in for an ear infection, we swab both ears and prepare a slide. The Veterinary Technicians then look under the microscope to decipher which type of infection your pet has- yeast, bacteria or a combination of both! This allows the doctor to choose the right medication to treat the infection. Sometimes, we are also greeted by these creepy crawlies- EAR MITES!

Dr. Graham was in the exam room with her kitty patient and its owner, and just couldn't figure out why the kitty was so interested in what was going on behind the door. We just couldn't resist 🤭

See those moving worm shaped figures? This dog is POSITIVE for heartworm. This video was taken in our hospital last week. Those little worms are circulating in this dog's blood and the adults are living in his heart. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE give your dog his heartworm prevention EVERY MONTH, YEAR ROUND. Heartworm disease is expensive to treat and it can be fatal.
