🐾 BIG LAKE PET FOOD PANTRY – EVERY THURSDAY! 🐾

Need a little help keeping your furry friends fed? We've got you covered! 🐶🐱
Every Thursday from 12 PM - 5 PM, we offer walk-in pet food pick-up at Big Lake Humane Society (2640 Marquette Ave, Muskegon, MI 49442).

This program has been one of our most impactful shelter abatement efforts—helping families stay together and pets stay out of shelters.

In 2024 alone, we distributed nearly 37,000 pounds of pet food! 🎉

👉 What you need to know:
✔️ Supplemental support—We’re here to help, but we can’t be your full-time pet food provider.
✔️ Limit: 2 visits per month per household.
✔️ Proof of income is required to qualify.
✔️ No support for breeders or colony cat feeders (our cat food supply is very limited).
✔️ Emergency food needs? Call us to schedule a pickup outside pantry hours—we’ll do our best to help! (No unannounced walk-ins, please!)

I'm Maggie!

No need to shout, I can hear you just fine. See, what I did there? There's no elephant in this room, just me! I love my big, beautiful ears just as much as you will.

I'm a sweet senior gal. My person passed away, and I was staying with family, but they have to move and I couldn't go with them.

I love to burrow under blankets, snuggle, go for rides and eat good food. I get so excited for dental chews, because oral hygiene is important!

I am social and do okay with other animals, as long as they respect my feelings, which are as big as my ears!

I'm working on clearing up a skin issue, but I've got medicine that will go to my new home with me.
I'm potty trained, walk well on a leash and just enjoy being with people.

The Ottawa County Iron Coffins MC are having their annual "Man's Best Friend" Party and have chosen this year to donate proceeds to the Furiends in Need at Big Lake Humane Society!

The doors open at 6pm, and we will be there with adoptable dogs until 7pm!

They are having raffles, 50/50 and free food for anyone coming off of the local pub crawl!

Pulled pork, stuffed jalapenos, so many sides, dessert and more!

With warmer weather approaching, so does "Kitten Season" - when shelters become overwhelmed with litters of unwanted kittens.

Each year, over a HALF A MILLION cats are euthanized in U.S. shelters due to limited SPACE. While we all love kittens, there are, simply put, too many cats and not enough homes for them all. The best way to prevent this crisis is by ensuring your cat is spayed or neutered.

By taking this simple but vital step, you can help reduce the overpopulation of cats in shelter's and give every feline a better chance at a loving home.

Poppy had 5 kittens this morning!

Rupert is a sweet, social and talkative senior cat. He came to us as a stray that was super matted. He still looks a little funny while his fur grows back, but he doesn't care.
Rupert loves people. He gets nervous around other animals and would do best in a calm home.

Experienced, patient, calm foster homes needed for Baby Girl and Blossom!

Baby Girl and Blossom are two dogs that need extra attention and help to get them with their extreme shyness.
They have both come a very long way from where they were at intake, but we're hoping with some one on one time in a home, they will be able to take bigger steps towards being ready for their fur'ever homes.
