We've had some questions about our upcoming fundraiser and would like a chance to answer them:

What is Dueling Pianos?
Well, here's a video snapshot of the pawmazingly talented Main Street Dueling Pianos in action!

How does it work?
The audience requests the song, by paying a tip, if someone (or everyone) wants a different song, they can pay to have their song played instead. These proceeds are donated to our organization!

What are the event details and what else is going on besides great entertainment?
When: Wednesday, November 27nd from 7pm-10pm. Meet adoptable animals from 6 pm- 7 pm!
Where:
Hosted at the Polish Falcons Club (1014 W Hackley Ave, Muskegon, MI) where there will be a full bar, an open kitchen with a delicious menu to purchase, a silent auction with lots of great items to bid on, a fully-loaded Kennel 'O Booze for raffle AND adoptable pets!

Hey, all y'all, I'm Brick!
Yep, Brick. Because I'm as heavy as one (or two)!
I'm a super fun little guy with a lot of energy to play, ride on your shoulders, talk...I talk a lot. Mostly when I'm alone. I have a whole album I sing, but not "Another Brick in the Wall" because there is no one like me!

We don't even know what I am, other than a VERY GOOD DOG! I'm a year and a half old. I spent my whole life so far with the same people. They wanted me to have a better life than they could give me right now. It wasn't safe for a social little guy like me to live in a tent.

I'm ready to make new friends, do new things and make them proud! Come hang out with me and all my toys and find out how much fun a Brick can be!

14 years ago Bonnie Colvin partnered with to sell holiday animal gift bags that support local shelters. Bonnies goal this year is to sell out (again!) and raise $1,300 for our shelter!
This week these bags are back in stock and ready for the holiday season!

We asked Bonnie what inspired her to start doing this every year, she said:
"My father was a Veterinarian so I grew up loving all animals especially dogs. I do love kitty cats too, but my true love is for all animals, especially those who don’t have homes. This is where people like you help make this world a better place. My husband and my dog Elf (Cassi Mae) support all I do too!"

If you're a pet owner, you probably go through a decent amount of cleaning supplies.
Well, we're sure you can imagine that it takes A LOT of cleaning supplies to care for almost 100 cats and dogs, especially when some of them are puppies.

We are almost totally OUT of bleach, laundry soap, paper towels, toilet paper and Fabulosa!
We are also critically low on hard dog, puppy, cat and kitten food.

One week ago, we assisted partner Luck's by taking in five puppies and their mother that they were not able to place after finding them in need of assistance on property where the puppies were being kept in a small coop.

Henrietta, Buckeye, Yokohama, Maran, Brahma, and Bantam have been receiving the care they desperately need as they start out on their journey to find homes. You can see the video where Luck's Rescue first met them before we picked them up below.

We can only continue to help Furiends in Need like this sweet momma and her puppies with the support of our community.

We've received several tags and messages lately regarding C-SNIP closing their Lakeshore location and consolidating to their new Walker facility. C-SNIP’s contributions to our community’s pet population, local shelters, and the well-being of animals has been immeasurable, and we are truly grateful for their dedication and service. We also know that this will impact the pet population if a collaborative bridge is not built to meet the demand or transport challenges on the horizon.

Our Director and Clinic Manager met with C-SNIP’s Medical Director last month, and we fully understand their decision to consolidate. Like us, they’re navigating rising operational costs and the challenges of maintaining affordability while providing quality care. This is a struggle we know all too well. As we’ve shared previously, we are also working hard to keep our doors open, despite expenses that have far exceeded our expectations and revenue this year.

While we can’t match C-SNIP’s prices, we are committed to staying open and accessible for our community. One of the biggest hurdles we face is finding veterinarians. We have been searching for a full-time vet for two years. Currently, our clinic operates with the help of part-time and relief vets, which, while helpful, makes it difficult to maintain consistent and affordable services.

We’ve reached out to C-SNIP to explore potential collaborations for high-volume spay and neuter services here at Big Lake Clinic, and we’re hopeful for future partnerships. In the meantime, we do have openings for feline spay and neuter surgeries, which you can book online through the link below. However, due to staffing, we are unable to offer public canine surgeries until we secure a full-time veterinarian.

If you’re a veterinarian, or know one who might be interested in joining our mission, please visit or send them the link below for more information about our open position. We would love to collaborate with any local clinics or veterinarians willing to work even one day a month with us to offer surgeries or wellness services to owned OR shelter pets (if you have a non-compete).

We are determined to keep providing vital services to the community, but we simply can’t do it without veterinary staff.
