TONY the grey Tiger is a big, rollie-poley guy with a handsome, round face made for smooches! TONY will greet you by rubbing against you for attention. He loves jumping into laps and will give you kitty kisses!

He was brought in as a stray, but not the least bit hesitant to be with people. In fact, he's a real people guy! He was unaltered when brought in and perhaps wandered away from a home while looking for love in the wrong place! That issue has been taken care of, and he is now ready to be a happy housecat!! We don't know what he thinks of dogs, but he's ok with cats and as loving as he is, he should be great with kids. He is, however, over 10 lbs, so may not want to be carried around! Kids need to be old enough to understand that cats like soft pets, and no squeezing hugs.

TONY is FIV+, which is a compromised immune system. This is not a fatal disease. it is not a contagious disease to humans or other pets. It is only caught by cats and can passed only during a violent fight. It cannot be passed by typical kitty play or spats! TONY has the same life expectancy of any housecat. Beautiful 6-year-old CALLIE was surrendered to the shelter, along with her almost 3-year-old sibling Patches (Adopted). Their former guardians have a new baby and have decided they have too many pets to be able to keep up with the changes in their lives.

CALLIE is a sweet, friendly lady who loves attention and is well behaved. She seems a bit confused by what has happened, but still craves pets and scratches.

Since she came from a house with several cats, she does ok with the roomies at the shelter. She apparently does NOT like dogs! CALLIE is such a sweet girl; she will do great with kids. She is however an older kitty, so she is probably more a lover than a player at this point. So, any children in the household need to be older and understand that she may like a bit of playtime, but she is more apt to want to snuggle on the couch, or in your arms! She wants all your love!

If your family is looking for a sweet, affectionate kitty who only wants a forever home that will love and care for her FOREVER, CALLIE is your girl!

WHISKERS has a huge vocabulary. He can tell you he wants attention, food, and pets and he wants it all neowwwwww! He is just the biggest, fluffiest furball you could ever want. He looks big, but he's not fat, he really is just fluffy (11lbs). He loves to be petted and will tolerate brushing, but be quick, because he'd rather have you petting him. WHISKERS had spent some time in the neighborhood as a stray, so his rescuer said he was friendly with other cats and with dogs, but she didn't know how he reacts to children. As outgoing as this big, beautiful hunk is, he probably would be fine with kids as long as they are old enough to understand about "soft touch" and no squeezing hugs for the kitty.

This sweet Senior is still waiting for her forever home!

If cats could talk LOLA would have an interesting traveling story to tell. She came in with a microchip that was registered to a shelter in California!! Unfortunately, there was no guardian linked to the chip.
She is a sweet cat and loves being the center of attention!

A gorgeous girl, LOLA is a Tabby who is mainly black with splotches of tiger stripes, very unique! She wants loving and is politely? vocal about it. And what a purr! She LOVES wet food!!

At 13 years old, she may still enjoy playtime, but she also will enjoy quiet snuggles and may be best in a home with older kids who will understand her playtime will be limited to short spurts.

She is not fond of her roomies so she should be an only cat and would probably not like dogs.

LOLA definitely does not act her age!! Sweet and spicy all rolled into one, LOLA definitely has that Valley Girl attitude! She would be a wonderful addition to your home!

Love it!!

Here is tonight's starting "meownup" for our Muskegon Risers as they take on Iowa on the road, in honor of our upcoming partnership game with Faithful To Felines next week where we will be donating $10 per goal.

Goal – Rocket, 6 YO -Rocket had a home for two of his five years, but his most recent guardian moved and couldn’t take him. Rocket will come up for pets and will rub against your legs to remind you it's his turn for attention. However, he does not want to be picked up! He often takes a bit of time assessing you before deciding if you are trustworthy, but once you pass muster, he rewards you with kitty kisses to your hand. If you sit next to the table, he loves being petted, but not a fan of belly rubs or long throw ins. If he had a big comfy chair to sit in next to his person, he would be purrfectly happy to be petted and snuggled a bit.

Defense – Bain, 5YO - Bain was brought in as a stray after his rescuer noticed him hanging out with a feral colony. Since he was friendly, healthy, and begged to be let inside, it didn't seem likely he had spent much time on the streets. He was brought to the shelter and quickly settled in. In his room, Bain is the first cat to greet visitors. He likes to come sit on laps, enjoys ear scratches and being petted. He also doesn’t mind being carried around as long as he has proper support.
BAIN can be a bit of a bully to other cats who are trying to steal the ball, or someone's attention from him. BAIN also tends to play aggressively and at 14 pounds, the others normally back off. Because of the aggression he sometimes displays when he is over-stimulated, he might not be a good fit in a home with young children or other dominate cats. He also does not like dogs! After playtime, he will gladly curl up next to his new best friend for a snuggle and a nap.

She may still enjoy playtime, but she also will enjoy quiet snuggles and may be best in a home with older kids who will understand her playtime will be limited to short spurts. Midfield – Waffles, 3 YO - Waffles came in with three other kittens. They are all very shy and hide a lot but when they feel safe with you they are very sweet and will come out for pets. Though she has a slight limp, Waffles is very playful and loves to bat around the small plastic ball with the bell in it, so you know she can put in a good cross into the box! She also loves canned cat food. She can be a bit wild so should not go to a home with young children.

Midfield – Dot, 4 YO – Dot is a small put energetic 4-years old who loves to play and play hard. She loves running up the cat trees, chasing the toys, and running down the wing. She is also friendly, loves being petted, wants to be loved and will give a love nip if your attention wanders before she is done being petted. When she wants to play, she doesn't like being held back. Since Dot has a lot of energy she would probably do well in a family setting. However, we do not know if she has had much contact with young children or dogs.

Forward – Cleo, 2 YO - Cleo loves people and is quick to acclimate to wherever she is. She very is friendly. She is not shy and comes right over when someone is near. She would make a great cat for a family as she is a good mixture of playful and lazy, kind of like Zlatan. She loves all toys but is known for carrying around Pom-poms and any wand toy with a feather. CLEO is very playful and loves attention. She will tap you with her paw to get your attention.
Cleo was abandoned as a pregnant momma. Despite this, adjusted quickly to her foster home, was a super momma to her babies and is now looking for a family to pay attention to her. She is friendly with other cats and is fine with dogs.

CLEO loves people and is quick to acclimate to wherever she is. She very is friendly. She is not shy and comes right over when someone is near. She would make a great cat for a family as she is a good mixture of playful and lazy. She loves all toys but is known for carrying around Pom-poms and any wand toy with a feather. CLEO is very playful and loves attention. She will tap you with her paw to get your attention.
CLEO is a young cat with a soft Tabby coat. CLEO was abandoned as a pregnant momma. Despite this, adjusted quickly to her foster home, was a super momma to her babies and is now looking for a family to pay attention to her. She is friendly with other cats and is fine with dogs.
CLEO is hoping that you have room at your house for her. She is sweet, quiet and would be a great addition for any family.

Pretty CARMEL is quiet, hoping no one notices her just yet. Her owner has recently passed away and although someone came by to leave her food and water, CARMEL was left by herself in the empty house for a month. By the time she was brought to the shelter, she was traumatized and hid behind the litter box.

This beautiful kitty is a big dish of vanilla ice-cream with rich caramel on top and is just as sweet! She is shy but will respond to a soft voice and gentle touch. CARMEL has only known one home and will need patience to allow her time to relax and trust a new home and family. How she feels about dogs, cats, and kids, remains to be seen. She is an adult cat and the person who surrendered her had no information about her. At the moment, she seems to simply want to be very small (not easy at 13 lbs) and unnoticed.

Maybe you are the person who will notice and give her the love she so misses.

BEATRICE is a pretty tiger with just a hint of orange highlights. She was brought in as a pregnant stray. She gave birth to healthy kittens and is now ready to start her next life chapter in a safe, loving home. As a stray, we have no idea how she feels about dogs or children. She is in "wait and see" mode at the moment. She is shy but going from street life to mom in foster care, to shelter in a short period is bound to make anyone a little nervous. One volunteer says BEATRICE will hang back and give her a skeptical look when she tries to entice BEATRICE without treats in hand. However, BEATRICE will come out of hiding for treats, quickly retreating to her safe spot when they are gone. She is now hiding out on a top shelf, but she is more than willing to let someone tall enough pet her and she will roll around to give you maximum body coverage, including belly rubs. She does like pets but won't come down for them. Unfortunately, BEATRICE is in a crowded room and she does not like the chaos of the younger cats in the room.

BEATRICE may take time and patience when introduced to her new home and people and probably needs a quieter home. She is young and once trust is established, with a gentle, kind hand, BEATRICE there is no doubt she will respond and settle into the loving, safe life she was meant to have.

A pretty black and brown Tiger, sweet one year old GIGI was surrendered as a stray with her sister Nauty. Since they were surrendered as strays, the person who brought them to us was unable to give us any information about them. With no prior information, we do not know what they feelings are towards children, dogs, or other cats.

GIGI is young enough that she will probably adapt with other non-aggressive housemates, both four leg and two leg types. As long as to younger two-legged roommates are old enough to understand about being gentle with a kitty, and no squeezing the kitty, she should be fine and would probably enjoy playtime.

GIGI likes attention but is a bit shy. As she continues to adjust, she should gain her confidence with all of the new experiences. Right now, she is still checking her new surroundings out. She is very sweet and does enjoy being petted and getting her head and chin scratched.

GIGI needs a real home, with a family who will give her love and be patient with her as she gains trust that she is really, finally in her forever home!

GREY was surrendered by his former owner because there were too many animals in the household. Why GREY was singled out is unknown, except possibly because he is older or because he did not like the other male cats. At least he is now safe at the shelter and wasn't tossed aside as so many unwanted kitties are.
GREY is a very handsome grey tiger. We do not know if he does well with dogs or children. Due to his age, he might do ok with older children. He is also apparently selective when it comes to sharing space with other cats. Having been just one of many in his old place, he may have had to meet the challenges from other male cats in the group too often. At his age, he simply does not want the hassle of proving dominance with another male cat!

GREY may do best in a home where he can be the only pet and could enjoy the rest of his life being spoilt and loved. Doesn't that sound great? Maybe you are looking for someone who is happy to see you and just wants to hang out!

How wonderful is this??

We are pleased to announce that we will be partnering with Faithful To Felines! For the last Muskegon Risers home game of the season, Friday March 14 against Wisconsin, we'll be donating $10 per goal to Faithful To Felines!

Last season we were able to raise $330 for Muskegon HS Soccer with the help of the Risers own Miguel Flores. Please let us know if you are interesting in contributing!
