πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‚πŸŽ‰Birthday BoyπŸŽ‰πŸŽ‚πŸŽ‰
πŸŽ‚πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‚HURLEYπŸŽ‚πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‚

HURLEY is two years old and is a handsome, medium short-haired orange tiger with a white ruff and paws.
Very scared, at first, HURLEY will now greet the volunteers when they come in. He likes to be petted and scratched a bit, but he is still a little shy, especially when there are lots of strangers in the room. He is not a fan of being picked up yet.

HURLEY likes to play with toys and doesn't mind the other cats, but we do not know how he'd be with dogs. He is not aggressive, but if things get noisy or chaotic in the room, he will go high and stay there.

HURLEY is slowly understanding that he is safe. But as much as the volunteers at the shelter love taking care of the cats, it is not a home. Given HURLEY's nervous nature, he needs a quiet home with people who will be patient and will give him time to adjust and trust. He would do best with older children who understand that he needs to trust them before he will interact with them. He needs a warm bed, lots of toys, and space he can retreat to for down time if he gets upset, especially until he learns to trust his new people and surroundings. And he needs lots of treats.
DOB: 1-25-23!

To adopt HURLEY, please come to the shelter during Adoption Hours Monday and Wednesday from 4-7, Saturday from 10-1 or call 231-773-3030 to make an appointment. Please bring your cat carrier.

πŸ’šπŸ’™πŸ’šCLANCYπŸ’šπŸ’™πŸ’š

As a stray in the neighborhood, CLANCY came to us with no background information. Although he looked a bit rough around the edges, CLANCY still loved attention. And he loved all the available food offered here. In addition, he was, an is a purr box on steroids! Just call his name and he will respond with snuggles and song! Now that he hasn't had to scrounge for a meal, we are seeing this raggedy lad turn into the handsome guy he obviously was before he became homeless, and he really wants to be loved.

Since his arrival, we have learned that he is great with the volunteers' kids who come in to help. He loves their attention; Of course, they are usually older and know about soft touch and no squeezing kitties. We are still unsure of dogs, though with proper introduction, a non-aggressive dog should be fine. Noisy, chaotic puppies might be an issue for him. He does ok with most of the cats in the room, however, a couple of the divas scare him to the top shelf whenever they feel he is getting too much attention. Because of this, when the shelter has open hours, our divas often do not allow this sweet boy to shine.

This guy is ready to hang up his wandering ways and settle down in a home of his own with people who will love him forever, (and feed him regularly, along with treats)! Do not overlook this wonderful boy when you visit!

MAEVE and her three kittens were brought into F2F by her previous owner, along with a few other cats. The owner felt overwhelmed by the number of cats she had and decided to relinquish some of them. MAEVE was described as sweet, loved to sit on laps, was fine with other cats and dogs. Two of her kittens were adopted,

MAEVE spends her time here, when anyone is around, on the top hammock, watching the antics going on around her. She does not engage! She does not mind being petted and allows the space between her ears scratched, but she does not like being handled, or petted near her lower back. She loves treats.

MAEVE is not hiding up high in a corner, as if she's scared, she just seems content to stay out of the way and watch. She needs to be in a home that is quiet rather than active and she needs to be the only pet at least until she is relaxed in her new home and gains confidence.

DOB: July 2020

If you would like to adopt Maeve please come to the shelter during Open Hours Monday and Wednesday from 4 - 7 or Saturday from 10 - 1, or call 231-773-3030 for an appointment.

🧑🐱🧑Cat of the Day🧑🐱🧑
🐱🧑🐱CHELSEA🐱🧑🐱

This sweet, little momma came into the shelter with her 4 kittens. She went to a foster home with them and quickly adjusted to life there. CHELSEA was very content to hangout and watch as her kittens got most of the attention, but is a big love bug herself and loves receiving pets and cuddles as well.
CHELSEA didn’t mind being around little humans and would do well in a home with them as long as they are gentle with her and old enough to understand soft touch and no tight hugging. We do not know how she feels about dogs, but given her sweet nature, she would probably be ok with a non-aggressive dog.
CHELSEA is a beautiful, little cat. Very sweet, laid back and ready for her life with a family who will give her all the love and attention she deserves!

πŸ±πŸ’œπŸ±KAMALAπŸ±πŸ’œπŸ±

KAMALA is a very sweet cat with a calm personality. She was found as a stray with 4 kittens. At 4 years old, this was not her first litter. She was a good mom to this batch, and now that she is spayed, KAMALA is ready for someone to show her the love and care she gave her babies.

KAMALA gets along well with other cats. As she cared for her babies, she was place in a foster home with dogs, but never really got close enough to interact. The dogs in the foster home were kind of big and hyper, so were quite intimidating. She might be ok with a non-aggressive, quieter dog but she would need time and patience during the introduction phase. KAMALA did fine with the children at the kitty foster home.

At four, KAMALA is young enough for occasional play, but probably would just as soon find a sunspot to nap in. She is a sweetie, reaches out for pets, and would love to find a home with lots of laps and love, just for her, forever.

If you are interested in adopting KAMALA, please visit the shelter during Adoption Hours, Monday and Wednesday from 4pm-7pm, Saturday from 10am-1pm or call 231-773-3030 to set up an appointment. Remember to bring your cat carrier.

πŸ’œπŸˆβ€β¬›πŸ’œSTARLINGπŸ’œπŸˆβ€β¬›πŸ’œ

STARLING is the sweetest little girl. She is ready for attention as soon as you come in. STARLING is playful and loving, and a total purr box! Her former owner says she loves to be snuggled & petted. She will even let you kiss her face. So, what happened? Why was she returned after having been adopted in 2022 as a kitten? A few months ago, a puppy came to live in the house, and she was not impressed. After two years, STARLING was surrendered to the shelter.

Apparently, Miss STARLING is also very selective in her choice of kitty friends. It would probably be best if she were the only pet in the household, or at least in a home with a non-aggressive cat. The 8-month-old puppy may have put her permanently off on dogs! Given her loving nature towards people, she should be fine with older children who understand soft touch, no squeezing, and if overly excited, all kitties may scratch or bite when the play is too rough.

STARLING is a sweet cat who didn't understand why anyone would want to add a rambunctious dog to the household. She is looking for a home without the chaos puppies (and perhaps kittens and young children) bring to the mix. Perhaps STARLING could be the star of your home!

Last month was kind of a bummer for WOODSTOCK (9 yrs) and his housemates, Timmy (7) and Applejack (10). Up until then, they had a home. However, apparently it having the kitties were overwhelming with a new baby on the way. Thankfully, they were surrendered to the shelter in hope they would find new home/homes. Although older cats are usually difficult to place in new homes and often languish in shelters for a long time, we will keep them safe, cared for and loved until their stories get a happy ending.

WOODSTOCK is doing better now that his flea issues have been resolved, and he is ready to find a new home with someone who can care for him and love him unconditionally! As a senior kitty, he is probably more of a lover than a player, so would probably be more suited to a home with older children who do not expect him to be a playmate. We do not know if he likes dogs or children, be he has lived with two other cats their whole lives, so he should be ok with a non- aggressive cat.

This sweet guy just wants to have a home again and have a second chance to become a fat, happy housecat! There must be someone who would like to make WOODSTOCK'S dream a reality.

If you would like to adopt WOODSTOCK, please visit the Shelter during Adoption Hours- Mondays and Wednesdays-4:00pm to 7:00pm, Saturdays-10:00am to 1:00pm. or call 231-773-3030 to make an appointment. Please bring your cat carrier.

This 2 1/2-year-old, black male kitty was a transfer from another shelter. COINKYDINK is a healthy 10.5 lb kitty who is FIV positive. With love and care, COINKYDINK should have as long a life as any kitty. FIV is not a death sentence, it is not contagious to other animals or to humans. COINKYDINK will not give it to another cat unless that cat is aggressive and attacks to do serious damage. Play fighting will not pass FIV to another cat, only a deep bite to muscle or bone can pass it.
COINKYDINK is very vocal, loves attention and would like to share a long happy life with a human of his very own. COINKYDINK is young enough he may enjoy playtime. He is a big guy though, so may be leary of being picked up much.
We do not know how he is with dogs. He seems fine with the shelter cats and probably would do fine with kids old enough to understand about soft pets and no tight squeezing or hugs. COINKYDINK is a young guy living in with a bunch of older guys who do not share his enthusiasm for playing!! This handsome guy would love to have a home of his own to play and snuggle with his very own person.
If you would like to adopt COINKYDINK, please visit the Shelter during Open Hours, Mondays and Wednesdays-4:00pm to 7:00pm, Saturdays-10:00am to 1:00pm, or call 231-773-3030 to make an appointment. Please remember to bring your carrier.

OSCAR has had a home with someone who loved him, but life can be hard for people and their pets. Both became homeless and OSCAR was tearfully surrendered to the shelter.
His person says OSCAR is a very loving boy who gets along with other cats, dogs and with children. He is a long drink of water and loves to be petted, get treats, and attention. OSCAR is also playful, but old enough to enjoy down time with his person. Doesn't care to be picked up.
OSCAR is confused by what has happened, but he is anxious to make new friends and find a new home, hopefully forever this time.

SHERMAN was Abandoned in a Cat Carrier in the Parking Lot of Wesco on Sherman and Summit. Personally, I have mixed feelings about this. I hope someone left him, assuming that he would be found and taken care of, which is better than taking him somewhere and tossing him out to fend for himself. But what a scary ordeal for this poor young cat to have to go through. We have no idea how long he was trapped there. Yes, shelters are full, yes, they have to say no, but if people would only be willing to keep the cat safe until there is an opening at the shelter, most shelters will help with food, litter, whatever is needed to keep that cat safe until there is a space in the shelter and eventually a home. Tossing out or abandoning an animal is Never the right choice.
Sweet SHERMAN holds no grudges though against humans. He is friendly, likes attention and loves playing with the wand toys! At this young age, he may have lots of energy to play but would also appreciate a loving lap and quiet time with his human. He doesn't mind being picked up and loves to snuggle. He is an old soul. He seems nervous, but ok so far with the other cats, but we do not know how he feels about dogs. He is young and should be fine with non-aggressive dogs, cats and with children old enough to understand soft, gentle petting and no tight hugs.
Whatever the circumstances brought SHERMAN to be left in a carrier, in a busy parking lot, then to the shelter, this youngster has been through enough! SHERMAN deserves a safe, loving home and family who will never desert him, no matter what happens in life. Are you that family?

🧑🐱🧑Cat of the Day🧑🐱🧑
🐱🧑🐱STELLA🐱🧑🐱

STELLA is an unusual looking Calico. She has a sleek, exotic body, short hair, primarily dark grey/black, a white chest and just enough gold splashed on the dark fur to be considered a Calico. STELLA was surrendered, along with her sister, Pixie, when the house they were living in was sold and their mom was unable to find a place that would allow cats. Her mom doesn't know how STELLA will do with dogs, cats, or kids, but she is just a youngster, so should be able to adapt as long as the other pets are non-aggressive and the kids are old enough to learn and understand soft touch, no squeezing or tight hugging kitty, and that if they do not follow the rules, the kitty will probably scratch and bite to get away.
This gorgeous, mysterious looking feline however is not as impressed with her looks as we are! She just considers herself a youngster who has suddenly lost her home and is anxious to find a new one. STELLA is outgoing, interested in everyone and wants all the attention she can get. She will roll over and invite you to rub her chest, but, since she still has stitches from her surgery (spayed), she doesn't want you too near her tummy. She is a long, leggy girl who would love to be in a forever home, with her sister, PIXIE, if possible.
STELLA is a fun girl who would be a great addition to any home and her sister Pixie would help make her feel more at home. These girls would probably be fine apart, but it would certainly ease the trauma they've suffered of losing the only home they've known, if they could be together. Twice the fun, twice the love. And two beautiful kitties to love!! WIN WIN!!!
DOB-12/23 Entered Shelter-12/24

Beautiful, exotic, aloof, mysterious, these words all describe gorgeous PIXIE. This sleek, leggy kitty was surrendered, along with her sibling, Stella, by her owner who had lost the house they were living in and couldn't find another place that accepted cats. PIXIE is what is called a Dark Calico. Her fur is almost black with gold splotches on it and enough white to be a Calico, but so unusual looking. So far PIXIE is staying behind her litter box in hope that no one notices her. But we've noticed her, and she is absolutely stunning! PIXIE is very wary of her present surroundings now that she and her sister have been placed in separate kennels. Hopefully once they are together again in the room, she will be comforted by her sister's presence and come out of hiding. I did discover that Miss PIXIE will quickly come out of hiding for treats, so treats may be the way to her heart and to establish trust.
The owner had no idea how PIXIE would handle dogs, cats, or children, but she is just a youngster, so should be able to adapt as long as the other pets are non-aggressive. The kids need to be old enough to learn about and understand soft touch, no squeezing or tight hugging kitty. They also need to understand that if they do not follow the rules, the kitty will probably scratch and bite to get away.
Poor PIXIE has had to withstand a lot of turmoil and upset in the first year of her life. She needs and deserves to have a stable, loving forever home. Although she would probably be ok without her BFF and sibling, Stella, it would so wonderful if they could remain together as they begin their next adventure! Just imagine sharing your love and home with two such unique, loving kitties. Twice the fun, twice the love! WIN WIN!!!
