Filly and Cricket went on a nice trail ride today! We were exposed to running horses, dogs, and rain! Both of them handled all of those things like rockstars! Filly's owners have now also purchased Cricket so her and Filly will stay for another 30 day training period and then go home to show off their new skills to their family.
Filly went on her first off property trail ride today and did amazing even with pulling a shoe off and me dismounting to get it ππ« . Don't have any off property clips but have this awesome clip of us going by 75 before leaving the property. She's is now and unbothered queen when it comes to traffic noises!
Filly getting used to riding along with other horses. Keeping her pace and going calmly is hard for her when other horses are involved and more so when they are behind her so we will be working on that with her every other day until she is able to nicely ride along with everyone while they are walk, trot, and cantering around.
Get it Filly girl πͺ getting better forward movement and confidence with each ride. She'll be tearing up the trails with her mom and kid in no time.
Filly's first time out of the rounpen! She did great with all of the ponies morning turnout nonsense! Little uppity but that is to be expected after having only been ridden and worked where she can't see the morning choas. She's turning into a lovely ride and we will soon be testing her out on the trail and doing some lessons with her family before they take her home. **Side note cudos to whoever owns a paint or white horse, I could never. She's washed after every ride and yet still looks like she hasn't seen a brush or bath since being here two hours post bath.
Filly's 3rd time trotting, first time with no prep and with no one in the pen with us! We had to trouble shoot when I started her under saddle because no matter what she wouldn't move! Squeeze, kick, flag, whip, she wouldn't budge unless she was being lunged on the ground while also having someone on her. So we had to wean her away from being dependent a ground person and taking a que from the rider. I'm still having to ride slightly behind and defensively because she still doesn't quite understand that she needs to keep the pace I'm asking for without nagging her to.
Amerra's two months here is coming to a close and I think it's safe to say she is turning into a lovely partner and equine citizen. It took a lot of desensitization and long lining days to get to where I was able to back her but she is coming out great. From being scared of the flag and taking off multiple times in the long lines to now being able to walk, trot, and canter as well as do simple lead changes. We have 5 more days together so we will continue to work on straightness and keeping her from dropping her shoulders in the corners.
Filly! Filly has been progressing great this month, we are finally on and prepping for our first real ride. Today I tested to see if I could annoy her with constant mounting and dismounting and a prolong period of standing. She didn't care at all and even gave us a nice hind end disengagement both ways before we decided to end today's session i was only able to captureone of them. Hoping to get a clip tomorrow of a full walk lap both directions in the rounpen. If that goes well we will continue to walk under saddle and focus on getting some better steering before we move into trot and canter
Amerra doing lovely today! Getting much better with our canter transitions and leads. We are also working in a different area of the farm everyday.( Please don't mind my equitation in this video, my stirrup bar broke yesterday so I am currently riding in my 20 year old 14" kid saddle π« )
Amerra has been doing fabulous undersaddle lately. Here is just a small clip of her practicing transitions outside of the roundoen and arena. Hoping to have someone come out tomorrow and film all the training rides to I can post everyone and show the awesome progress being made with everybody!
Guinness's first time under saddle since coming to Florida and healing from Kissing Spine surgery! We did a nice w,t,c warm up with equibands for about 15 mins before we saddles and did our 5 min walk. These videos were taken at the end of our session. Safe to say it was a success so far! We will now continue to just walk for the next week or more to get his back used to the extra weight again before moving up to trotting and hopefully cantering. π€ Can't wait until it's his mom aboard enjoying how awesome of a horse she has.
