Here’s a training video of ‘down-stay’ with Jack. There’s not a trace of the sassy mouthy dog or the nervous biter. His confidence has blossomed and he’s been a joy to have. He’s really a wonderful dog and I can’t wait to show his family tomorrow everything he’s learned and began their hands on training.
In this video he got to work with a new distraction, a hard Jolly Ball in the rain.
2 moms, 4 dogs and 3 boys went camping in Palatka, FL on the St. John’s River. We had a fantastic time! We ventured out to Payne’s Prairie and saw the wild horses, and to Crescent Beach where I drove the Jeep on the sand and Owen and Bruce played in the ocean.
Take your loved ones camping!
Owen wrote a training manual for all dogs but mostly for “Bear” who graduated today. If you need a reminder of the rules, here’s your sign. 🤪🤪🤪🦮🦮🦮🗣️🥾📺🛻🛋️
Bruce getting in between bath blow and brush. The dust and hair flying out of him could be in my house instead. So if you own a double coated breed, get yourself a dog force dryer and start doing this and you too won’t have tumble weeds blowing in your house.
Our Bruce helping yet another socially awkward dog make a friend. Max and Bruce.
Gia making good choices around the boisterous young Trudy. Plus my two and four legged kids.
My current Boot Camper. Roman, a 6 mo old Pitbul.
Teddy and Heidi have been coexisting well here and neither has had an attitude with each other. A problem they had at home, leading to fights, nasty barking at each other when crated, and chaos at the door.
Teddy’s #1 joy and goal in life is marking every vertical surface he can lift his leg on. He could care less about other dogs, and he’s shown attitude toward our Bruce for just being in Teddy’s space. He did live his late mate Bella, a dog I trained when he was here first for Boot Camp back in 2011. In his defense he’s always been a tough guy wanna be and now at 14 y.o. he’s deaf and he’s not interested in what anyone wants from him.
Heidi has that bar fight participant drive in her, when if a dog gets loud and there’s chaos she goes nuts. She’s now easily redirected and she understands I’m more relentless than she is, so our relationship is well structured, now.
As a combination these two are not a good fit for each other, but their owner is committed to making it work and proving each dog what they need.
By the time these two go home next week, they would’ve stayed here for 18 days, instead of the planned 8. Longest extension I’ve ever done, longest amount of time a dog has ever needed to learn basic skills in my care. I’m talking about Heidi, as Teddy is just here to board and do a refresher. Heidi is the special case I’ll never forget.
I’m glad we’re good friends now! 🥰
