Today we celebrate International Day of Veterinary Medicine. Thank you to ALL veterinary professionals who provide care to our pets. Each day, they work tirelessly to save the lives of their patients, no matter the hurdle or obstacle that may stand in their way. Between managing and dealing with clients, being advocates for their patients, and completing a variety of day-to-day tasks, these workers deserve more recognition and support than they are often given. Well, it's official, Elvis has left the building! In the world of veterinary medicine we had a real life celebrity come visit our hospital today. We were humbled by the fact that Dr. Steven Marks, the Dean of Harvey S. Peeler Jr. College of Veterinary Medicine at Clemson University would take time out of his busy schedule to stop by to say hello. Wow, how cool was that!!!

This week we were honored to be invited to attend the ground-breaking ceremony for the Harvey S. Peeler Jr. College of Veterinary Medicine at Clemson University. We were able to meet with the Dean, Dr. Steven Marks, the first Dean of the Clemson University School of Veterinary Medicine. It will be the first ever Veterinary School in South Carolina and open the doors to many potential students looking to pursue Veterinary Medicine as their career. The goal is to have the opening of the school in 2026 with the first graduating class in 2030. The College will help address the shortage of veterinarians in the state. A third of South Carolina counties have fewer than five veterinarians, and 48 percent of the state’s counties have fewer than 10 veterinarians. While qualified candidates are applying to veterinary colleges, 500-1,000 are not admitted due to a capacity shortage at existing colleges.

River Oaks Animal Hospital, Myrtle Beach is excited to support Clemson University and the positive impact it will bring to the people and animals of the state of South Carolina. We are excited for this project to be fully underway and we are extremely proud that River Oaks Animal Hospital will be a part of the journey and a contributing factor to the success of this program in some small way. The future of veterinary medicine in the Palmetto State could not be brighter.

The River Oaks Animal Hospital is the best! Working as a well oiled machine even at Pirates' Voyage

Giving your pet his or her daily injection of insulin is so easy a 10 year old can do it.

The past two days of 🌟 𝕋𝕖𝕒𝕞 𝔸𝕡𝕡𝕣𝕖𝕔𝕚𝕒𝕥𝕚𝕠𝕟 𝕎𝕖𝕖𝕜 🌟 have been filled with lots of fun, food, and creativity. Wednesday's theme was 🐾 ℍ𝕒𝕣𝕣𝕪 ℙ𝕒𝕨𝕥𝕖𝕣 🐾 and we made our own potions and butterbeer. Thursday's theme was 😸 ℂ𝕒𝕥𝕦𝕣𝕕𝕒𝕪 ℕ𝕚𝕘𝕙𝕥 𝔽𝕖𝕧𝕖𝕣 😸 , it was filled with disco vibes and trucker hat making. This week has been a blast and we are excited for our final day of celebrations.

We had a 🦖 rawring 🦖 good time at Tuesday's 🌟 𝕋𝕖𝕒𝕞 𝔸𝕡𝕡𝕣𝕖𝕔𝕚𝕒𝕥𝕚𝕠𝕟 𝕎𝕖𝕖𝕜 🌟celebration. The theme for the day was 𝕁𝕦𝕣𝕒𝕤𝕤𝕚𝕔 𝔹𝕒𝕣𝕜 and the day started with an early morning dino attack. We then went fossil hunting and ended the day with dino games. We highly recommend getting a dinosaur costume and running around for lots of laughter and stress relief! 🦖🦕

This week is 🌟 𝕋𝕖𝕒𝕞 𝔸𝕡𝕡𝕣𝕖𝕔𝕚𝕒𝕥𝕚𝕠𝕟 𝕎𝕖𝕖𝕜 🌟 at ROAH. We kicked off the week yesterday with a 🐱🐶 𝔽𝕒𝕤𝕥 𝕒𝕟𝕕 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝔽𝕦𝕣𝕣𝕚𝕖𝕤𝕥 🐶🐱 theme that was full of laughter, food, and games. Our team is always ready to move and are quick on their feet to offer the best patient and client care! We are so thankful for all they do and they more than deserve a week of celebrations. Our Story

At River Oaks Animal Hospital, you can expect a different type of veterinary visit. I opened the hospital after realizing the need for personalized pet care and attentiveness to the pet parent. This stemmed directly from my own experience with pediatrician offices and my desire for them to “know” my children, not just see them as the next appointment. It dawned on me that pet parents were looking for the same experience. So the philosophy of excellent customer service, personalized pet care, and relationship building was born.

I completely understand the joy that pets bring to our lives and so my team celebrates that human-animal bond. By educating pet owners and advocating the best possible care for our patients, we demonstrate our commitment to animals, to their family, and to our community. My team is constantly improving themselves so that we can further nurture that bond. In the past couple of years we have become a Fear – Free Certified Hospital and are completing the Low Stress Handling University by the late Dr. Sophia Yin.

Pets are only half of the equation, their guardians are the other half and making a visit to my hospital a great experience is my passion. In today’s society, customer service is a dying art and we are working hard to turn that around. By focusing on great preventative care, educating you on your options, and providing progressive medical services, we are the team you need to keep your pet healthy.
