Today is National Take Your Cat to the Vet Day! 🐱🐈🐈‍⬛

4️⃣0️⃣% of owners DONT take their cats to the vet on a yearly basis! Cats need routing health check ups just like people do.

Jax was recently adopted from the Outer Banks SPCA but he came in today for a wellness exam so he can get flea prevention! He left with a clean bill of health and is now protected with Revolution Plus!

Meet Miley!! 🐶

In June, Miley had a 9️⃣.6️⃣ pound tumor removed by Dr Hayes!! Today she came in to get a quick vaccine and her mom and dad brought us a basket of goodies that weighed 9.6 pounds!!

Miley is doing great and feels much better!! She is such a sweet girl. 🥹

August is National Itchy Pet Awareness Month!

Allergic/Atopic Dermatits is the #1️⃣ reason dogs are brought in for veterinarian visits!! Almost 8️⃣ million dogs go untreated by a veterinarian for itch!!!

Do you guys remember Winky?! 😉

Winky was brought in when he was about a month old and needed an eye enucleation. After his surgery, our assistant Jenna JUMPED at the opportunity to foster him.

Winky came in to get neutered this week because he found his furever family!!! 🐾❤️ We are so happy for Winky and his new family!!!!!

August is National Pet Immunization Awareness Month! 💉

Vaccinations can protect pets from serious disease or potential death and can minimize the spread of disease among pets.

Initial vaccines can start as young as 8 weeks in your puppies and kittens. Some vaccines will need to have a booster for your pet to be fully protected against diseases.

Some diseases, such as rabies and leptospirosis, are "zoonotic" which means they can be transferred to us as well!!

At your next exam, talk to your doctor about which vaccines are recommended to keep you and your sweet furbaby safe!!!!!!!

CC came in for a wellness exam with Dr. Moore to get established as a patient!! She was the sweetest ball python. (even our receptionist, Jami held her and she’s scared of snakes!!) She is so photogenic and even posed for us! 📸

🐱Pet of the Week 🐶

Meet our Pet of the Week, Buster! Buster is an 18 month old Goldendoodle. He was adopted from Currituck Animal Shelter!! As soon as his mom saw him, she KNEW she needed him and drove straight from Corolla! He actually looks exactly like a miniature version of their other dog.

Today is World Snake Day! 🐍

World Snake Day was created to highlight the important role these reptiles play in maintaining the ecological balance.

There are 37 different species of snakes in North Carolina and 6 are venomous! The best way to identify a venomous snake is to learn what venomous snakes are in your area. You can go to www.herpsofnc.org to see which snakes are in your area and use a whole body approach to identify. (Color, pattern (bands vs saddle), size and range).

If you see a snake in the wild, LEAVE IT ALONE! Generally, snakes are very shy and don’t attack unless provoked. Stay on the path when out walking and be aware of your surroundings, even when in your own backyard!

OBX Official Snake, spider, fish, turtle ETC identifier is a great group to join if you have seen a snake and would like help identifying it!

It is HOT HOT HOT!!! 🥵🔥☀️

As it gets hotter outside so does the ASPHALT and SAND. Even just a few minutes walk can cause significant damage to your dog’s paws.

Here are a few tips to prevent burns:
1️⃣ Check the pavement before beginning your walk. If it’s too hot for you, it is too hot for them.
2️⃣ Walk during the cooler hours of the day, like in the early morning or late evening.
3️⃣ Consider dog booties to provide an extra layer of protection!
4️⃣ Whenever possible - walk in grassy areas or dirt paths.

This why microchipping your pet is so important!!

This sweet boy showed up at someone’s house in Texas. She posted on a lost and found page because was unable to bring him to the veterinarian at that moment. There was a lady who said she thought that was her dog. Her dog went missing from their yard SEVEN YEARS AGO! They believe he was stolen.

The lady who found him was able to get him to a vet and he was REUNITED with his family because of his microchip!!!

Good morning! This week we have a quick clip of what we do during our dentals. As you can see here we use an ultrasonic scaler that vibrates and chisels off the stuck on tartar on our pets teeth. This tough tartar chips off slowly as we move it in very tiny circles. This leaves your pets teeth nice and shiny!
