👉Here’s to all the farmers, ranchers, and homesteaders out there. As freeze season begins, this is the time of year that tests your grit, your spirit, and your commitment to the life you chose. The animals don’t care that you’re tired, that the days are short, or that you’re sick or worn down. The only thing that matters to them is that you show up—because you chose them, and they depend on you for everything!
In a way, it’s a vow we make without ever speaking it out loud:
To love, care for, and protect you…
In sickness and in health.
For richer or poorer.
In heat or cold, in rain or snow…
Until death do us part.
We don’t get to coddle our aching bones, nurse every cut, or give in to the “I just don’t want to today.”
So we drag ourselves from the warm covers, throw back that cup of ambition, bundle up like Nanook of the North, and step out to face what we chose—and what we love.
They need us… and deep down, we know we need them too.
And when the chores are done, the water is thawed, the tanks are broken open, and every animal is warm and fed—pause. Listen to the soft, content sounds of creatures settling in for the night. Let yourself smile, because you are blessed. God made this world for people like us. HIS SON was born in a barn, and you’ve been given the gift of caring for His creation.
God doesn’t hand out strength—He gives us opportunities to become stronger. And He walks beside us as we haul hot water, chip ice, and step beneath a crackling, star-filled sky for one last night check before heading to our own beds.
God made farmers.
Hang in there—winter doesn’t last forever. And before long, we’ll all be complaining about the heat again! 🤍🐄🐐🐑🐓🐖🚜🧑🌾👩🌾🤍
