🌿🐐 Worm Watch: Barber Pole Worms in Goats 🐐🌿

Summer is prime time for Haemonchus contortus—better known as the barber pole worm. These parasites thrive in warm, humid conditions and can cause anemia, weight loss, and even death if not caught early.

🔍 What to watch for:

Pale eyelids (check using the FAMACHA system)

Bottle jaw (swelling under the chin)

Lethargy or sudden drop in condition

✅ Prevention tips:

Rotate pastures frequently

Keep forage at safe heights (avoid overgrazing)

Use selective deworming—don’t overmedicate!

🐐 Healthy goats = healthy pastures = happy farmers.
