Almost time to come home! Honestly I cant wait to see all my favorite pup-clients! (And you humans, I guess! 🤣) But Ive been missing my shop and its 4 legged guests!

Also an announcement we will be starting a walk-in nail clinic the last Sunday of every month. For dogs AAANNNNDDDD cats (just for nails, not full grooming, sorry). 😳 Bring it on, Fluffy! 🐈‍⬛🐈🐱

Just a reminder to not be deceived by the movies. While Malinois are amazing dogs, MOST people should not have one in their home. With their lifestyle. Please do not go out and purchase one because you saw the movie and liked it ❤❤❤

They aren’t called maligators for nothing. Do not get an animal because you saw it in a movie- PLEASE. The movie “Dog” with Channing Tatum is released tomorrow featuring a highly trained Belgian Malinois. We stand firm that most people should not own this type of breed and anyone interested should do an immense amount of research. This movie took THREE different Belgian Malinois and nine months of training for this movie. A highly trained Malinois is a work of art and can be amazing in the right hands- the right professional hands. We fear that we’ll see an influx of them in shelters soon and that will not go well for the breed. Due to the extreme amount of enrichment/exercise/training needed (think mini raptors), Belgian Malinois deteriorate very quickly in a shelter environment.
If you’ve made the decision to get a Belgian Malinois (and cleared your schedule for the next year of training), please remember that pure bred does not equal good breeding. Don’t help a backyard breeder line their pockets. Ethical Belgian Mal breeders won’t advertise on Facebook, road signs, or Craigslist. And they won’t sell their dogs to probably 90% of the population because not everyone is equipped to handle a dog like that.

Happy Wednesday!

Did you know that puppies should be started on grooming by 8 weeks at the latest? 🐶😯
They can be bathed, brushed and have their nails trimmed and even have their hair trimmed and shaved. This helps avoid them being aggressive or unruly with their groomer later in life. 🐊🐊🐊
Part of owning a dog is teaching them about the world! 🌍 This includes training them to be desensitized to even their least favorite things like grooming, nail trims, vet visits, etc.
If a dog makes it to a year without being taught to tolerate his/her nails being trimmed by even their owner, what will happen of that dog is injured and needs a vet to handle their feet in an emergency?
To not train your best friend to tolerate necessary handling by strangers, you do them a big disservice in their life. 💔💔

Please, please, start your puppies early and continue their training throughout their lives, especially the first year. Its all part of responsible pet parenting! ❤🐾🐶
