We are thrilled to announce that Soldier has found his forever home!

This compassionate family consists of a dedicated mother and her soon-to-be 13-year-old daughter. They've been following Soldier's incredible journey since he was rescued by Officer Lincoln and feel a deep connection to him. As lifelong dog lovers, they have been searching for the perfect companion to join their family after the passing of their beloved dog at age 10.

Their home is already filled with furry friends, including two rescue cats, Star and Loki, who are accustomed to sharing their space with dogs. They also have a "nephew doggie" named Briscoe, who was heroically saved from a perilous situation and often spends time with them, joining in on hiking trips and outdoor adventures.

The daughter has bravely battled Juvenile Arthritis since she was just 14 months old. With recent improvements in her health, the family believes that welcoming Soldier into their lives will provide mutual comfort and companionship.

Living in a pet-friendly, gated community bustling with other dogs, Soldier will have plenty of friends to play with. The mother works from home, ensuring that Soldier will have constant love and attention. Weekends will be filled with fun excursions to the forest and ocean, making for an adventurous and fulfilling life for this deserving pup.

We are thrilled to announce that Soldier, our brave and loving furry friend, is looking for his forever home! 🏡 Soldier has sailed through his medical treatments like a warrior and now it's his turn to find a family that will love him just as much as he loves them. He still requires a topical ointment applied twice daily, however we feel the right person can take on that task for him so he can be in a "home" atmosphere.

Did you know your new fur babies need this many vaccines as a puppy & kitten!?!? Below are the recommended vaccination schedule for your new furry friends!

**8 Weeks Old:**
1. **DHPP (Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvovirus, Parainfluenza)**

**12 Weeks Old:**
1. **DHPP (Second dose)**
2. **Leptospirosis (optional, depending on risk of exposure)**
3. **Bordetella

**16 Weeks Old:**
1. **DHPP (Third dose)**
2. **Rabies (required by law in many areas)**

**Additional Recommendations:**
- **Lyme Disease**: Optional, depending on geographic location and risk of exposure.
- **Canine Influenza**: Optional, depending on risk of exposure.

Here at Viking veterinary Hospital, one of our core values is excellent patient care. We strive for excellent patient care with every patient every time. While many strays come in our doors, due to poor prognosis many of them are euthanized. We wish we could save them all:( Soldier had come in as a sweet puppy with degloving wounds from an unknown cause. Despite the significant amount of pain he was in he still was wagging his tail and loving the attention he was getting from staff. We chose to give soldier the best life we could, despite what had happened because of that hopeful look in his eye. He is a puppy destined to do amazing things and make someone very happy. This resilient stray, who arrived severely injured, continues to be a beacon of strength and hope. With a wagging tail and a sparkle in his eyes, Soldier greets everyone, including Officer Lincoln, with unyielding optimism.

Soldier is currently undergoing medical therapy to heal his severe wounds, and his playful personality is shining through more than ever. While his progress has been remarkable, he still needs ongoing medical care and rehabilitation to ensure a full recovery.

A Heartfelt Plea for Help: Meet Our Courageous Survivor
At Viking Veterinary Hospital, we believe every animal deserves a chance at a happy, healthy life. Today, we want to share the story of a brave little “Soldier” who has touched our hearts and needs the help of our compassionate community.

On Monday, July 15th, Nampa’s amazing Animal Control Officer Lincoln, found an injured puppy in desperate need of medical attention. Without hesitation, she brought him in. Despite his horrific injuries and evident pain, his eyes shone with a spark of resilience while his tail wagged with hope. He sought snuggles and snacks between treatments.

Unfortunately this little guy presented with severe skin wounds, likely due to burns, that has affected about 60% of his total skin. Our veterinarians and staff worked quickly to stabilize him, administering fluids, wound care, antibiotics and providing pain relief.

His condition requires him to remain under medical supervision with continued care for the foreseeable future to continue the healing process. We are committed to giving him the best possible chance, but the cost of his treatment will be substantial.

This is where we humbly ask for your help. We have set up a fund called “Soldier’s Fund” to cover his medical expenses and are seeking donations from our community. Every dollar will go directly towards his care—covering the surgical procedures, medications, bandage changes and rehabilitation. Our amazing staff will be donating their time and medical expertise as well.
