This guy is my oddball cappuccino….he hatched out looking similar to his capp siblings, but over time he has changed so much that he doesn’t even look like a capp anymore. The tangerine pigment on his laterals has stayed bright, and little dots of orange are starting to pop up along his pinstripes (although it’s hard to capture on camera). Believe it or not, this guy is a full sibling to the dark pinstripe female in my last post. Excited to see what the future will bring! Still so much fun stuff to work on with the cappuccino gene! ❤️☕️❤️

Tonight’s blacklight photo test subject definitely didn’t glow like the previous female! I purposely chose a gecko with thick, raised white patterning, but for some reason hers did not fluoresce like last night’s cappuccino. Under normal lighting both geckos’ white patterning appears to be similar in color and texture, so what is it that makes one glow and not the other? I’m intrigued, and excited to test more geckos!

Here’s an update on the Friday the 13th baby. It has such an interesting smooth look to it. The mom is a soft scale, and had produced an earlier capp baby that I had thought was softscale, but this is something much different. Maybe super soft? But I don’t know how it could be with only one parent being softscale. The father capp hasn’t ever produced anything like this with the other females I’ve paired him with, and there are 2 previous capp siblings from the same mother that look nothing like this. There are so many interesting things still to explore with the cappuccino gene! I have gradually been shifting my focus with my gecko projects to concentrate on capps and frapps, and I have some very interesting pairings in the works! Lots of oddball stuff. Can’t wait to see what this coming season brings! ❤️☕️❤️

Here are a couple of Lilly siblings we hatched a few months ago from our tangerine project. Can we even really call them Lilly “White” at this point? 🧡🤣🧡 I’m planning to make some frappucinos with them in the future. “Orange Mocha Frappucinos!” Bonus points to anyone who knows what movie that’s from 😅
