Please read as our safety measures for service have changed:

We are now providing curbside veterinary service to limit employee exposure and practice social distancing during COVID-19.

Please remain in your car and call us upon arrival to let us know you are here.
A nurse will come outside and speak with you and your pet will be brought inside to be examined by the doctor.
All communication with the Doctor and processing of payment will be done over the phone.

If you are here to pick up medication or a food order please also call us from your car, we will process your payment over the phone and a staff member will bring it outside to you.

Hello everyone, We hope that you all are doing well and are in good health in this trying time. As we all adjust to the changes in our lives from the new and spreading Coronavirus called COVID 19 the staff at Napa Personal Pet Care would like to let the community know we are still open during this crisis. We consider your pets' health essential and are here to provide all your medical care needs during this time.

As recommended by the CDC we have all been asked to practice ‘social distancing’ as best we can. Washing hands frequently, using hand sanitizer and wearing a mask is always recommended. If our lobby is full or you fall within the higher risk groups of individuals ( people over 65 years old, immunocompromised, currently dealing with major illness or suffering from chronic lung/breathing issues) you may wish to wait in your car. Please give us a call when you arrive and a nurse will come get you or we will call you back when we are ready to put you immediately into an exam room. If you are coming to pick up a medication or food order we are more than happy to bring it out to your car.

Currently we are sending all sick employees home for self quarantine. We will continue to wipe down all door k***s, door handles, exam rooms, countertops and commonly touched surfaces throughout the day and in between each appointment. If you yourself are experiencing any flu-like symptoms (cough, sneeze, fever, congestion) and it is not an emergency we ask that you wait to bring your pet in. If it is an emergency and your pet needs to be seen right away please make arrangements to have a family member or friend bring your pet in for their appointment to protect the staff and doctors working hard to care for your pet during this time.

Come meet our newest doctor at Napa West Pet Hospital! Dr. Nate started with us in June and has been a fantastic addition to our team!

Dr. Nathaniel Fichtenberg grew up in Sonoma and is a graduate from Justin Siena High School. He then earned a Bachelor of Science in Zoology from UC Santa Barbara, spent time working as a pharmacy technician while also volunteering at a local shelter and zoo. Next was a year in AmeriCorps, a community outreach program to help underprivileged areas of our country. Ultimately, he headed overseas to enroll and complete his veterinary degree at the Royal Veterinary College in London, England. After spending the past 15 years in Castro Valley, San Francisco and Milpitas he is returning to where he has always considered home. He shares this adventure with his wife, two children and his cat Louie The Chairman, A.K.A. Loulou Chat.

We have been receiving a lot of questions regarding the recent Canine Influenza outbreak. So, we wanted to address everyones concerns.

This highly contagious disease began as an isolated episode of respiratory disease in one state, and has now become a nationwide health concern for all dogs.

Dogs have no natural immunity to Dog Flu because it is a newer virus.

Almost every dog exposed to the virus will become infected.
Dog Flu can pass from dog to dog through direct physical contact or from virus particles in the air. It can also be spread through objects that were touched by infected dogs, like toys or water bowls.

Dogs that are at highest risk for contracting Canine Influenza go to; kennels, groomers, daycare facilities, shelters, and dog parks.

California Outbreaks have been reported in the Bay Area, Sacramento, Amador County.

**We are also now requiring the Canine Influenza vaccine for any pet that is boarding with us. **
