to help build a brighter future for our local shelter and animals in need. Friends of Napa County Animal Shelter was founded by a group of longtime, dedicated animal shelter volunteers. We provide much needed support to our local animal shelter and the community by developing, funding and managing programs to assi

st with pet adoption and lifetime care, provide community education, and promote volunteer opportunities. We support these efforts with programs such as:
- medical emergency fund for shelter animals and shelter alumni
- volunteer program support
- community adoption events and promotions

🐾 Why Foster a shelter pet in need? Because it’s a gift the whole family can give!

Meet April, a sweet puppy who just needed a little guidance to shine. She’s one of 70 dogs that Miryam Chae, president of FONCAS, and her family have fostered over the years.

“I love this picture because it shows how the whole family plays a part in fostering,” says Miryam. “April’s time with us, especially bonding with our daughter, helped prepare her for life with her new family, who runs an in-home daycare. She’s thriving now! ✨

Meet Cheerio, the little dog with the biggest heart! 🐾

When Cheerio first came into the loving home of FONCAS President Miryam Chae and her family, he was shy, scared, and unsure of the world around him. But with patience, kindness, and love, Cheerio blossomed. 🌟

"Cheerio was incredibly shy and scared when we brought him home to foster," Miryam shares. "Now, he's living his best life, soaking up tons of attention and love." ❤️🐕

Fostering pets like Cheerio doesn’t just change their lives, it changes ours, too. It’s a chance to help them heal, grow, and prepare for a happy forever home. 🏡

As Miryam says, "Fostering allows you to watch a pet enjoy your home, giving you insights into what they need in a forever home. This sets everyone up for a successful adoption." 🥰

We have an update on the 25 chihuahuas brought to Napa County Animal Shelter: thanks to your incredible support and the help of Marin Humane (9 dogs, 8 are already adopted), Joybound (12 dogs plus a cute bonded senior couple), and Sacramento SPCA (4 dogs), these pups have found safe places to land! 🐶❤️

Friends of Napa County Animal Shelter is addressing a critical need and using recent donations for spay/neuter services for the Animal Shelter. With help from Silverado Veterinary Hospital, we’re getting pets ready for adoption just in time for the holidays! Your generosity is helping us address the backlog of adoptable pets needing this essential surgery. Thank you for being a part of this lifesaving work.

🐾 Urgent Community Appeal 🐾

Sometime during the night of Thursday, December 5th, 25 Chihuahuas were abandoned on the side of the road near Calistoga. These terrified dogs were crammed into small crates and abandoned.

For the Napa County Animal Shelter, this crisis could not have come at a worse time. Every kennel is full. Every resource is stretched.

On behalf of the Napa County Animal Rescue community, FONCAS is asking for your help to ease this burden on the Napa County Animal Shelter.

Giving Tuesday is here, and your donation is more than just a gift; it’s hope for every animal in need at the Napa County Animal Shelter.

Meet Canelo. This poor kitty was severely injured and required costly surgery to survive. The Friends of Napa County Animal Shelter Alumni Pets Medical Emergency Fund provided a grant to fund Canelo's medical costs

From Canelo's owner: “I want to express my deep gratitude to Friends of Napa County Animal Shelter for their incredible help during a really difficult time. I found myself in a difficult situation when my kitten, Canelo, only 10 months old, needed an amputation of one of his hind legs after being hit by a car.

The help I received not only relieved the financial burden, but also gave me a sense of support and community at a time when I needed it most. For me, FONCAS is not only an organization, but a real family that takes care of both pets and the people who love them.“
