We support pet adoption, lifelong care, community education, and empower volunteers
to help build a brighter future for our local shelter and animals in need. Friends of Napa County Animal Shelter was founded by a group of longtime, dedicated animal shelter volunteers. We provide much needed support to our local animal shelter and the community by developing, funding and managing programs to assi

st with pet adoption and lifetime care, provide community education, and promote volunteer opportunities. We support these efforts with programs such as:
- medical emergency fund for shelter animals and shelter alumni
- volunteer program support
- community adoption events and promotions

As we wrap up October, we are deeply grateful for two amazing local businesses that made a big difference this month!

Thank you to the Active Wellness Center of Napa for their “4th Annual Active Day for Animals”! Their event brought in a great many essential shelter supplies and donations. And participants had an opportunity to meet and greet some adorable shelter kittens.

A special shout out to Armistice Brewing Company of Napa for hosting a lively and fun “Howl-o-Ween Canine Costume Contest”! Local pups strutted their stuff on the red carpet, and Armistice is donating all of the entry fees to Friends of Napa County Animal Shelter.

Halloween Pet Safety Tips!

Before the trick-or-treaters arrive, set your pets up with a cozy, quiet hideaway to keep them feeling safe from the Halloween frenzy. A great tip: hand out candy outside to minimize the doorbell drama.

Cats (and some pups!) can get nervous with Halloween decorations. Opt for pet-friendly decor to keep them calm.

Keep all that candy out of reach! If your pet accidentally snacks on something dangerous, get in touch with your vet or the Poison Control Center immediately.

As Halloween night approaches, bring your pets indoors where it’s safest.

Saturday, October 26th
9 AM - 12 PM
3421 Villa Lane, Napa

This event is open to the community and to all fitness levels. Join your neighbors for FUN and fitness as we come together to raise valuable resources for our furry companions in need!
(Suggested donation of $5-$10 per class.)

Pumpkin Boot Camp, 9:15am-10:15am
Community Dance Party & Costume Contest, 9:15am-10:15am

Forget the stereotypes—rats are some of the *smartest* and *friendliest* little animals you could ever meet! 🧠💕 These clever creatures can learn tricks, come when you call, and even enjoy snuggling with their humans. They thrive on companionship, both from their fellow rats and from YOU! 🥰
