What kind of spider is this? Since becoming vegan I am fascinated by spiders that are different and 90% less afraid of them. This is a spider on a sidewalk at a park in Bellingham, WA. Any idea of what kind it is?

For those who are unaware, the "bird flu" like most voracious flu-bugs around the world, was created at factory farms. Factory farms are breeding grounds for the worst viruses as they are created in animals that are already receiving antibiotics and are sick. This most recent flu has wiped out millions of birds - wildlife -- and millions of domestic birds have been killed due to having or being exposed to the flu bug. Now cattle. Luckily, they are not putting cattle down by the thousands or millions, but many are getting sick and the potential is very high for it jumping to humans and spreading. One more time folks, the US House FARM BILL helps support factory farming of animals. An alternative bill in the US Senate decreases this funding and moves a lot of support from factory farms to regenerative farming, organic farming and small farms. Smaller farms help decrease air and water pollution, Climate Change and increase health in animals and people. Call your Reps today!

In this podcast, Hope will explore the recent trajectory of the animal advocacy movement toward encouraging industries to transition to cage-free systems and other animal welfare campaigns. Cage-free eggs are now 40% of the US egg market and both the industry and animal advocates are promoting this as a major victory…but is this something to celebrate? Hope talks about social justice strategy, Effective Altruism, incremental change, and propose that our movement’s focus is out of balance. She cautions that we are relying too heavily on impractical strategies and fragile legislation that may not lead us to farmed animal freedom.
