We’re thrilled to share an update from our PAS (Pet Assistance and Support) program, featuring P and her beloved dog, Baby Girl.

Our program manager had the pleasure of running into them, and it was incredible to see how much Baby Girl has thrived! This 13-year-old pup looks like a brand-new dog—full of joy, radiating health, and sporting a fresh haircut that makes her look ten years younger!

Seven years ago, Baby Girl was adopted by P after her previous owner, a dear friend of hers, passed away. Their bond has been unbreakable, as they’ve supported each other through thick and thin while living together in their car.

When they first joined our program, Baby Girl was facing multiple health challenges, including skin allergies, a skin infection, and ear infections. She also needed dental work and had a growth covering her eye. Thanks to our PAS program, we provided the vital treatment she needed. Now, with monthly allergy shots, Baby Girl is feeling 100% better!

P beautifully expressed what their relationship means to her: “Baby Girl means companionship. She is my friend; we love to hate each other! She gives me a bad time just as much as I give her one. We are companions.” ❤️

We love knowing that Baby Girl is happy, healthy and love and that Patricia is able to see her beloved companion thriving!

While Halloween fun is exciting for us, it can be a bit spooky for our pets. As we get ready for a night of tricks, treats, and costumes, remember that our pets often feel safest and happiest staying inside, away from the hustle and bustle.

Be sure to read through our tips on how to keep your pets safe and happy this Halloween. If this holiday is a reminder that having your pet microchipped is on your to do list, Napa Humane offers microchips during our Friday drop in clinics, which run from 9:30am to 1:00pm.

🐾✨ Why Microchips Matter ✨🐾

A kind-hearted student was on her way to school when she spotted a sweet little chihuahua running through the busy Bel Aire Plaza. Without hesitation, she pulled over to help him.

When she brought him into the Napa Humane Clinic, our team discovered that he had a microchip! Thanks to this little piece of technology and the fact that his information was up to date, we were able to quickly contact his family. Within 30 minutes, sweet Murphy was back in the loving arms of his parents. ❤️

🔍 Is your pet microchipped? Make sure the information is current! If they’re not microchipped, Napa Humane offer a drop-in vaccine clinic every Friday from 9:30 to 1pm. Vaccination and microchipping services during these clinics are for Napa County residents. You can get your pet microchipped for just $12, certainly worth the piece of mind you will get!

🐾 National Cat Day Spotlight 🐾

Meet Blackie, a resilient community cat, and the compassionate family who went above and beyond to help her and her six kittens. When this family found Blackie hiding in the bushes with her kittens, they stepped up to provide safety, find loving homes for the kittens, and ensure every one of them would be spayed or neutered.

Their story is a powerful reminder that it truly takes a village to care for community cats, especially when shelters and rescues are stretched thin.

At Napa Humane, we believe that everyone deserves the companionship and comfort a pet provides, regardless of their financial situation. That’s why we’re committed to supporting our community by offering vital services—like spay/neuter surgeries, vaccinations, and preventative care—to those who want the best for their pets but may need a little extra help.

Recently, we hosted a community wellness clinic and were able to extend a helping hand to over 100 pets and their people! It was a busy, rewarding day as we addressed a variety of common but important health concerns. In addition to treating skin and fur conditions, we provided comprehensive care that included ear cleanings, eye exams, and evaluating lumps and bumps. Many pets required prescription medications, and we were able to dispense everything needed to help these animals feel their best.

We are incredibly grateful to our Napa Humane Clinic team and our dedicated volunteers, whose hard work made this day possible. Their commitment and willingness to give up their weekend to ensure these Wellness Clinics happen is truly something to celebrate. We can’t thank everyone enough for their efforts and support in making this day a success!

🚨 𝐒𝐂𝐀𝐌 𝐀𝐋𝐄𝐑𝐓: 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐏𝐞𝐭 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐒𝐜𝐚𝐦𝐬 🚨

A local pet parent was recently targeted by a heartbreaking scam while their beloved cat was missing. They were contacted by someone claiming to be from Napa Humane, who said their missing cat had been found but was injured and needed surgery. The scammer asked for a deposit over the phone. The initial call came from a blocked number, and when the pet parent questioned it, the scammer offered to “call back from the front desk” – and then spoofed Napa Humane’s number to make it look legitimate. 😡

Join us for our first HowlOween Party! We'll have fun games like bobbing for apples, pie-eating, costumes, scent trail, stuffy scavenger hunt, tricks and agility.

We encourage puppies under 6 months to come at 6pm, as they would for Puppy Play Date. All dogs are welcome between 7-8:30pm. This is a drop in event, so join us whenever you can! The whole family is welcome to attend!

The first dog is $10, additional dogs are $5.
Please bring a new bag of treats with you so the dogs can all enjoy tricks and take home a bag of treats.

Pups in costumes are awesome, but we know that not every dog appreciates a costume; so please let your pup decide if they'd like to come as they are, or as the fantastical beast of their dreams.

All events will take place at the Napa Humane Education Center, 3149 California Blvd, Suite J.
