The animals in our shelter have ended up here for a variety of reasons ranging from abandonment, to rescue from an abusive situation, to owner surrender because they no longer can or want to take care of

them. Our animals are loving, family pets who are desperately awaiting for their forever home. was founded in 1989 by a group of generous volunteers determined to find homes for animals in need. Over the decades, our objective has remained the same: to place animals into permanent, caring homes and advance the humane treatment of animals through education.

"Honey is a typical young beagle who enjoys sniffing out treats and scents whenever she has an opportunity. But, every time I bring Honey an enrichment activity, she picks cuddles and girl talk instead. Her reaction is why I volunteer."

We have an update on Wiley! Her Mom says, "She is the most fiercely loyal dog I have ever met. Attached at the hip, extremely cuddly and playful." Wiley plays fetch with her Mom every morning and loves her food puzzles! Since leaving the shelter, she's stopped resource guarding her food and has much healthier eating habits.

We are so grateful Wiley found a loving family who is willing to patiently work with her as she settles into her forever home.

After spending over a year at our shelter and 3 months in foster, Mort has been A.D.O.P.T.ed! Selective and very spicy, Mort's play style was too rough for most cats. That is, until Sabrina came to A.D.O.P.T.! After spending 3 months together in foster, Mort and Sabrina have both been adopted by their foster mom.

Mort was frustrated at the shelter but as you can see from the photos, he immediately calmed down once he entered a home environment and is now thriving!
