Good morning everyone!!!!! So I’m still ironing everything out, and these take a LOT to plan, but I’m thinking mid to late summer for our Dog Patch Reunion!!! I’m narrowing down where we will host and contacting vendors but it’s HAPPENING 🥰🥰🥰

If we were to POSSIBLY figure out a way to throw a Dog Patch reunion, would you want to come? (obviously elsewhere lol!) Angel and I are trying to think of ideas but first want to know if we’d have any interest!

Hi everyone it’s Greg. It’s been a year
Since we closed DogPatch. I have been looking back. A year of transition for sure.

Step one. Find work. It took a long time with countless zoom interviews. Many revealing themselves as mid level marketing schemes the deeper in you

I was burned out on the rescue struggle. Hopelessness became a thing as there is no end. . .Ever, to the population problems in the animal world. I have serious respect for those who continue the struggle. I wanted to do something interesting but new. I miss Elanna at puppyrescue911. I miss the vets at Naperville Animal Hospital.

I ended up accepting what amounted to a decent albeit questionable approach to marketing. In the city. Trains, business professional dress the whole deal. Not a great fit? But a job. I was able to avoid what was certain to be a disaster by finding something local. Big pay cut but I’m happy.

It seems my biggest issue is learning how to be an employee. My staff will appreciate the struggle I face to remember to clock in and out. It’s harder than I thought. I’m still thinking like an owner of a small business. There is a staff of amazingly talented humans that take care of things. I no longer find myself in the position to fix things. Usually I was knee deep in whatever just broke, whatever event, whatever crisis. It was my deal. This feels weird but good.

I miss having animals around 24/7. I remedy some of this by dog sitting. I work for Bonnie at “friends of the family”. I’m often watching animals I sent home as much as ten years ago. It’s pretty great.

I have to say the most touching thing is dog patch customers and staff stopping in to say hi. Often with their animals. It’s so kind. Naperville is still a small town. I miss all of my customers. I want you to know we did everything we could to stay open. It will take some time to process all of the changes. I still have a difficult time driving past the place. It is under contract. Hopefully to be someone else’s very soon.

I can report that the staff all found work. There seem to be new babies around or on their way. We did keep our group text up so we have a quasi-meeting place. I miss all of them. Im so happy when I hear from them.

I’m so pleased that I can still be a part of business in Naperville. Stop by I’d love to say hi. Anderson’s Toyshop has been a learning experience. I have tried to bring some energy to the place. THE TRAIN TABLE IS OUT AGAIN! If you don’t see me ask. I’m not always on the sales floor.

Thank you all for your kindness throughout the years. I hope I was able to return it. Miss you guys.

Hey friends can we share and help fund this out of state Dog Patch alumni!!!!!!! Thank you all! Her owner is devastated and hoping we can help!

This is a major long shot but…

I adopted “Luvy” in May of 2017. She’s a tortoiseshell domestic shorthair cat. Her sister was named Lucy.

She ran out of the backyard on Monday. I haven’t seen her since. I’m pretty hysterical.

She was chipped. her information was lost due to moving.

This happened in Carson City, NV near eagle valley middle school!

Share share share! Let’s find this sweet baby!

**EDIT** we do not know if this poor pup has a foster yet, what we do know is South Suburban is doing everything they can to help pets in need and is at complete capacity! Shared in hopes that any of you may want to foster, or may know people who may want to 🥰. Please call south suburban if you’d like to help them out! They are wonderful people with big hearts!** ❤️
Hey friends! Long time no see!!!! Our friends over at South Suburban need our help!! Please share!!

We don’t actually know how to describe to you what’s happening right now. SSHS is beyond capacity. We closed our doors to intake but then we walk outside and find this. Adoptions and fosters are always down at this time of year with the end of school and graduations, etc. But they are especially low right now.

We are in desperate need of your help. Our team is doing everything possible to get lost pets reunited and to find homes. We are turning to you—if you can foster even temporarily please fill out this foster contact form https://bit.ly/3lLAXB5

If you can’t foster or adopt, please help us spread the word right now to save lives.

Our Story

Dog Patch Pets was founded in Naperville, Illinois in 1972 by Craig Allen. From the beginning Dog Patch was dedicated to making the lives of animals better. Craig went out of his way to find and support breeders that did things right. Craig was responsible for changing Illinois laws so that critters in pet stores could receive veterinary care. From the beginning Dog Patch was an innovative, full service pet store. Our motto was "From Puppies to Guppies... We Have It All".

In October of 2010 Craig died suddenly. On January 1, 2011 Greg Gordon purchased Dog Patch. Greg had been both a good friend of Craig and a manager of Dog Patch for 17 years. Greg is dedicated to maintaining the standards and principles that Craig set down. This includes changing when change is the right thing to do. In December of 2011 Greg announced that Dog Patch will stop selling breeder puppies and kittens in order to create a new model for pet stores. Now Dog Patch fosters and finds forever homes for rescued dogs and cats.

Dog Patch is still a full service pet store but our new motto is "Find Your Rescue At Dog Patch"
