🚨 Here’s the deal 🚨If your dog has full freedom to roam the house, chances are it’s sneaking off to potty without you even noticing. 🐾 When they do this and there’s no consequence, they’re learning that the house is their personal toilet. 🚽🧻Why would they want to brave the heat, wet grass, or cold weather when they can comfortably pee on the tile or carpet instead? 🤷♀️The solution? Less freedom, more structure. 💡 Keep your dog leashed inside the house and supervise them closely. When it’s time to potty, take them outside on a leash and stand still. Don’t let them just wander and sniff aimlessly—this is business time! 💩✨ If they don’t potty, they go straight back in the crate. No potty, no freedom. When I am training out in public, I love to prioritize educating others! I SHOULD have said “the e collar is how I can ensure I can COMMUNICATE with her”, because that is truly what I am doing. I am adding an extra layer of communication.🌩️E collars are not shock collars! E-Collars, akin to TENS machines, offer a gentle tap or tingle for communication. It does so by tensing the muscle, ensuring both physical and mental well-being. I always make sure all my clients have felt an E-collar and understand how to use one before I put one on their dog! (For reference, Onyx works on a level 10 and it wasn’t felt here until level 14) 🌩️I also make sure to emphasize positive reinforcement while training with the e collars! This week's group class at North Collier Regional Park turned into a personalized one-on-one session with Wesson! Wesson, a 2-year-old labradoodle, successfully completed the 3-week home obedience course. We are working on proofing his obedience out in public and around other dogs! This exercise is crucial because many dogs tend to become overly excited around other dogs, and some want to chase others. While Wesson excels in obedience, he struggles with impulse control in this situation. Here, we also showcase an exercise from the Canine Good Citizens test—walking towards each other and coming to a sit. Wesson improved his impulse control through the lesson, and maintained excellent behavior around an unfamiliar dog! Feel free to reach out if you're interested in joining our group classes!
