A veterinarian physical exam is a complete checkup to make sure your pet is in tip-top shape! The vet carefully examines key areas, like your pet's eyes, ears, nose, mouth, and teeth, looking for any signs of infection or illness. They’ll listen to the heart and lungs, check the skin and coat for parasites or any unusual changes, and gently feel the abdomen to make sure everything’s in order internally. The vet also checks joints and muscles to identify any pain or stiffness. Finally, if needed, a neurological exam is conducted for pets showing any signs of neurological conditions. This thorough approach helps catch any health issues early, keeping your pet happy and healthy for the long run.

Halloween is coming up. Here are some tips to ensure your furry friend has a safe time.
🎃 Keep candy out of reach – Chocolate and xylitol are toxic to pets, so store treats securely. Do a sweep of your yard the next day for dropped items.
🎃 Choose safe costumes – Allow your pet to try out the costume several times ahead of the big night. Make sure it fits well and doesn’t restrict movement or vision.
🎃 Use pet-friendly décor – Avoid hazards like candles or string lights that could harm pets.
🎃 Create a quiet space – Halloween can be overwhelming, so give your pet a calm area away from the activity.

Meet Louie! 🐶❤️
This sweet boy came in because his pawrents noticed a scratch near his eye. We were able to examine his eye and use a fluorescein stain to see if his eye was also scratched. Luckily, he had no ulcer on his eye. We hope you are feeling better Louie!

With the heat still in full swing, remember that our furry friends feel it too! Walking your dog in hot weather can lead to heatstroke and other injuries. Here's why: Concrete and asphalt retain heat, making it much hotter for your pet, and these surfaces can burn their paw pads. When it’s above 80-85 degrees, it’s best to walk your dog in the early morning or at dusk. If that’s not possible, keep walks short and stay on the grass. Always provide plenty of water and watch for signs of heatstroke, such as excessive panting, drooling, lethargy, and confusion. If you notice any of these, bring your pet to us right away.
