Sport’s Story!!
Sport has had multiple owners since he was a puppy. He was bought buy a lovely family from his breeder in California. Once he arrived to them, they found him bleeding from his p***s. Thankfully the new owner was a veterinarian herself. So she did some digging and found that he had a small hole in his heart.
The owner wanted to keep him but wanted her money back to go towards sport’s future care. The breeder declined and sent him to Virginia where he lived in a crate for far too long. His heart condition wasn’t managed either.
He also has Epulis in his mouth. These are oral tumors found near the gums. While they are non cancerous, they will be removed soon. This is also a hereditary issue.
He had his yearly appointment with my ophthalmologist and THANKFULLY his eyes are healthy at least.
I “rescued” sport. I rehabilitated him. When I got him, he was only 11 pounds which is skinny for an English toy. He was heavily stained. Could have been from licking himself of Boredom or p*e stains. He wasn’t potty trained and would scream in a crate.
Once I felt sport was in somewhat good condition, I finished him to his AKC championship. However, he is our forever pet. He is “retired”, sleeps on the couch, gets fed top quality food (now weighs 14 pounds), and will never live in his old conditions again.
Sport has not or will ever be bred either. Whether the hole in his heart closes up or not, the condition was present as a puppy. The condition is a congenital abnormality and will be passed on from generation to the next. Alongside the heart condition, he’s has behavioral conditions. Temperament is usually passed onto offspring too.
Sport is our king. We love and cherish him no matter his past. His yearly cardiologist appointment is coming up 🙌🏻 We are dedicated to his care until the end!
I had to post this update because his breeder will not stop harassing my puppy homes to try and start drama 😓
