Who remembers Shyla's story? 💕 Her story went viral a few months ago, and since then, we’ve had so many people interested in meeting her. While it hasn’t been the right fit for Shyla just yet, many who came to meet her ended up adopting other dogs from our shelter—a silver lining for our furry friends! We’re confident that Shyla’s perfect match is still out there, waiting to find her.

Among the many inquiries, we received a special surprise from an artist inspired by Shyla’s story. Clay Critters by Mike donated a stunning handmade sculpture of Shyla to gift her future adopter. 🐾✨ Thank you so much for this incredible gesture! Meet sweet Charlie! 💙 He was adopted from us as a puppy in 2022, but sadly, his owner got sick and had to return him. Since then, Charlie hasn’t had any luck and has been waiting patiently for a loving home.

Charlie just needs a little time to warm up, but once he trusts you, you’re in his pack for life, and he’ll be your loyal best friend. This active pup loves tennis balls and splashing around in the water! He’s looking for someone who will respect his boundaries and let him adjust at his own pace. Charlie would thrive in a home with teenage children and would love to be in a cozy home for the holidays. After all this time, he truly deserves his perfect match. 🐾

Pricilla is a gentle soul with a stunning face that could grace the cover of any kitty magazine. She loves pets and will even gently place her paw on your hand to ask for more! After her days as a devoted mom, she’s ready to focus on herself and find a loving home. She’s still figuring out shelter life, but with a little patience and a cozy corner to call her own, this timid beauty is sure to bloom. Pricilla’s heart is as lovely as her looks—she just needs someone special to give her the time and love she deserves. Stop by our von Arx adoption center to meet her!

Calling all dog fosters—we need your help!🐾

We’ve shared Ginny’s story before, but she is still in need of a loving hospice foster home.

Ginny is a sweet senior lady looking for a medical foster. She recently began experiencing seizures, which are now well-managed with medication. Ginny loves being outdoors, whether she’s exploring or simply basking in the sun. She’s a world-class snuggler, friendly with everyone she meets, and enjoys long, slow walks where she can inspect everything along the way.

She would do best in a home without other pets, where she can be the center of attention. As a senior dog with special needs, we want to give Ginny the comfort and love of a foster home.

Rye first came to us as a kitten, and while he only has three legs, that’s never stopped him from living life like any other cat. Now 7 months old, Rye is also an FELV-positive cat. This Christmas, his biggest wish came true—he was adopted! 🎉

His adopter shared this heartwarming message:

"Today, my heart grew a little bigger. I’m beyond happy to share that I’ve adopted the sweetest, most resilient cat—meet Rye, my new three-legged buddy! 🐾 Rye may have three legs, but he has the biggest personality and spirit I’ve ever seen. He’s already filling my home with love, purrs, and inspiration.

The Big Red Bus visited Humane Society Naples yesterday, and we want to give a huge thank you to everyone who came out to donate blood! 🩸🐾 Together, we collected 19 units of blood, which can save up to 57 lives. We’re so grateful to our amazing donors and to the Big Red Bus team for stopping by our Main Shelter. Thank you for making a difference!

Meet Rascal, the ultimate embodiment of Orange Cat Behavior! 😹 With his goofy personality and endless antics, he keeps everyone laughing. Rascal is currently our office cat, so you might stroll right past him without realizing it. Next time you're at our Main Shelter, make sure to stop by and meet him!

This playful guy loves showing off his parkour moves during zoomies, guaranteeing a good laugh. But don’t let his energy fool you—he’s at his sweetest in the early mornings, when he’ll melt your heart with requests for gentle affection. Just remember, Rascal can get a bit overstimulated from all the excitement, so he appreciates a few breaks here and there.

Fun fact: Rascal has a quirky love for empty water bottles and will entertain himself for hours with them!

Meet Zorro, our sweet and smart boy who’s been with us since 2021, patiently waiting for a loving home. 🐾 Despite all the love and care he receives here, nothing compares to the warmth of a real home—and Zorro hasn’t felt that in so long.

At 6 years old, Zorro is people-friendly, though he has struggled to make dog friends. He has selectively befriended female dogs but those are far and few between He’s eager to please and incredibly intelligent, knowing a wide range of commands like sit, stay, come, paw, spin, roll over, and more. He’s also crate-trained, keeps a clean space, and is even housebroken.

Zorro is an active and adventurous pup who enjoys being in nature, long walks, car rides (he’s quite the gentleman!), and, of course, cuddles with his favorite humans. He thrives with positive reinforcement training and would make the perfect companion for someone ready to meet their best friend.

We’ve mentioned him before, but if you’re not familiar, meet Coco Melon! 💗 This charming senior boy, with his adorable gray hairs, has been patiently waiting for his perfect match. Hard to believe, but this will be his second Thanksgiving and holiday season without a home or foster family.

Coco Melon loves meeting new people, splashing around in the pool, and would thrive as the only pet in a home where he can soak up all the love and attention. His adoption fee is waived, and as part of our Senior Dog Club, his new family will receive a $500 health & wellness credit at our veterinary clinic.

It’s another Foster Friday, and this one is extra special! Meet Nyx! While at our shelter, Nyx was a very nervous boy. Most of the time, he’d try to make himself as small as possible because he was so scared. Unfortunately, his shy demeanor often led potential adopters to overlook him.

After waiting patiently, Nyx finally hit the jackpot with a loving foster home! He has truly blossomed in their care and does best in a home with other dogs that help boost his confidence.

Here’s what his foster has to say:
“Nyx has been nicknamed Mr. Smiley because when I come home, he gets so excited that he smiles with all of his teeth over and over again—it’s the best greeting ever! He follows me everywhere around the house, loves all of our dogs, eagerly takes treats now, and has learned how to play with toys and bones. He is a sweetheart who just wants consistent love, which he so easily returns.”

Now we need your help! Nyx’s foster family will be out of town for Christmas, and we’d love to find him a temporary foster home so he doesn’t have to return to the shelter environment. He’s made incredible progress, and we want to continue to support his journey.

Happy Foster Friday! Meet Archie! This sweet 6-month-old boy is loving life in his foster home. Archie can be a little shy at first—he found the shelter environment overwhelming—but he’s truly thriving in a home setting. Let’s help Archie find a loving family while he’s in foster so he doesn’t have to return to the shelter!

His foster says-
"Archie can start off a bit timid, but he secretly loves cuddles. Catch him during nap time, and he’s a total purr machine who nuzzles and makes biscuits! He’s also a toy fanatic and has taken every single cat toy out of the toy box to play with. Archie gets along well with my older cats, loves playing and cuddling with my young cat, and doesn’t mind dogs. He’s been thriving at home and will make a fantastic addition to someone’s family!"

Our sweet pitty mixed breeds, like Thanos, Zelda, Gimli, Deja, and Coco Melon, are proof that these stereotypes couldn’t be further from the truth. These affectionate, loyal, and playful pups are full of love and joy, just like any other breed, yet they’re often overlooked because of misconceptions.
