How adorable is Tessa?! At 82 pounds, she’s all love and has so much of it to give. This water-loving girl is happiest splashing around in the pool and living her best life.

Tessa is one of our Rescue Recess superstars—everyone who takes her out can’t stop raving about how sweet and well-behaved she is! She’s great on the leash, housebroken, gentle as can be, and those big blue eyes? Irresistible.

Calling all cattle dog fans—come meet Red! 🐾
Red is a 1-year-old, 37-pound sweetheart who came to us from another shelter. He may be a little shy at first, taking a moment to observe and warm up—but once that tail starts wagging, you’ve got a loyal friend for life.

Red is a total lovebug once he’s comfortable (which doesn’t take long!). He’ll happily lean into your lap for snuggles and soak up all the affection you’ve got to give. With a little patience, he’ll show you just how big his heart is. And trust us—his fur is unbelievably soft.

What an incredible holiday weekend! Even though we were closed in observance of the holiday, we still had so many amazing adoptions—including Hoosier, Milo cat, and Harriet!

A huge shoutout to our cat team and the von Arx Adoption Center, who adopted out 16 kittens and 3 adult cats today—that’s 19 feline adoptions in just 4 hours! 🐾

Happy tails to all the lucky animals who found homes, and thank you to everyone who chose adoption this weekend!

Meet Deuce! 🐾
This lovable goofball has been through a lot, but you’d never know it from his endless tail wags and happy hops.

Deuce came to us from another shelter in need of ongoing medical care after being hit by a car. Because of his past injury, he now hops like a bunny when he walks—but we think it just adds to his charm! At just 2 years old, Deuce is full of life, love, and resilience.

He’s a big love bug with an even bigger personality. His tail thumps with joy whenever he sees his favorite people (which is basically everyone), and he never fails to put a smile on our animal care team’s faces. Snacks? Yes please. Walks? Absolutely. Snuggles? Always.

Deuce has come so far, and now he’s ready for a fresh start in a loving home. After all he’s been through, he truly deserves his happy ending.

Another Foster Friday! Star came to us after her previous family could no longer afford her medical expenses for an injured leg. Her leg was amputated, and she’s been healing wonderfully. While at the shelter, Star struggled with stress and wasn’t eating well, but thanks to a loving foster home, she’s had the chance to decompress and recover fully. Despite being a tripod, Star hasn’t let that slow her down! She’s adapting beautifully and is the sweetest girl, often stopping mid-walk to drop down for a belly rub.

Her foster parent shares:
“Star truly lives up to her name as she loves being the star of the home and the center of attention. She enjoys cuddling on the sofa (when invited) and is a big fan of belly rubs—one of the first things she did after arriving at my home. Star also loves frosty paws, bones, and spending time outdoors. Her amputation hasn’t affected her mobility—she loves walks and meeting new people. She will make a loving and loyal companion for someone.”

We’d love to find Star her forever home while she’s still in foster, so she doesn’t have to return to the shelter and experience stress. If you’re interested in giving Star the love and attention she deserves, please email [email protected]. 🐾

Happy Foster Friday! Collett is a very smart and affectionate senior kitty with special dietary needs. While she can be quite independent, she is content sharing space with other cats. Collett loves to spend her days relaxing whenever she finds a comfortable spot, but as soon as she sees a visitor she will greet them with conversation!

This cat is in one of our Foster Homes and will require an appointment to meet. Contact [email protected] if you are interested!
