Theodore came to us back in March of this year. He was transferred to us from Fortunate Ferals in Lehigh Acres. He was an old colony cat that had to have his eye removed, which would make it harder for him to live on the streets. He came to Purradise Gardens to be a permanent resident. Theodore won’t let us touch him. He isn’t mean, doesn’t hiss, he just wants to be left alone and we give him his space. Imagine our surprise yesterday when we found him snuggling and grooming Stanley! Theodore has found his purpose, he’s a kitten cuddling Grandpa. Dahlia has been with us for three years! We originally rescued her from a Home Depot garden center, where she had been living. Cat Fest 2024 is in the books! First and foremost I have to thank, bow down to, exhalt and praise Allie Goodman! This was her idea and she worked so hard pulling it all together. She and her husband Jared organized the troops and took care of mowing the lawn, weed whacking, bush hogging No Name Lane, pressure washing the cat buildings, raking and more. It was a true labor of love that went on for two weeks!! Allie organized the vendors, had Purradise Gardens t-shirts made and donated, she made our new awesome sign and just went above and beyond on everything. Thank you to all the vendors that came and supported our cats. A huge thank you to the Loud Italian Food Truck and Ernest from Derry’s Ice Cream Truck who came to the rescue! Our food trucks didn’t show up, let’s say miscommunication, and I posted on Facebook looking for help and they showed up!! Thank you to all of our amazing volunteers that helped pull it all together and worked the event. It was a huge success, we had 8 adoptions collected a ton of cat food and brought in close to $2,000 in donations. Thank you so much to everyone that came out to support our cats. The girls are all ready for their new homes. Champagne is the gorgeous flame point siamese and her two sisters, Pinto Grigio and Moscato, have beautiful dilute calico/tabby coats. I set the trap for a small cat that has been showing up at one of my feeding stations. I went to my next stop, leaving the trap for my target. When I returned I was surprised to find a large black kitty, that I have never seen before, sitting inside the trap! He was vetted the next day and returned to his territory the next day. I like to give them at least 24 hours of recovery before release. I haven’t seen him back at the feeding station but I had never seen him before either. I always leave extra food when I feed the colonies. You never know who else is hiding in the shadows. New Kitten Krew Alert! These five babies were living outside with their Mom. Yesterday they were trapped and brought to us. The Mama and one kitten are still out there. Hopefully we will catch them today. Kitten season is in full swing.
