Havi is working hard on her position holding and over excitability! I’m so proud of this little lady for focusing on that hold, even with her biggest distraction (demo dog, Rio). 💜

What down time looks like for the demo dogs after a day of training lessons !

Did you know the groomers at Chewie’s Playland specialize in first time grooms for puppies? Exposure to grooming (especially for breeds that need frequent haircuts) is always an advantage at this age, even for just a bath and nails! We pride ourselves in going slow with each dog while exposing them to grooming procedures. This is Ronnie’s second groom with Brad and he upgraded to the dryer! This little man came in much more confident than the last time. We’re so proud to see your progress, Ronnie!

Little Tank the Labrador puppy tackling the the puppy teeter his first try !

One of my old elementary school teachers always used to say “start slow with what you know.” Almost 15 years later, and it still applies to my career in dog training. Today I pushed Finlay too hard. After a quick refresher on all the agility obstacles, I immediately took him to the teeter thinking his confidence would transfer over. Instead, I went too fast and he shut down. I gave him a quick cool down time, working on his handling skills to strengthen his bond with me. During agility training, the dog has to trust you enough to touch and move their paws, body, neck, and rear end. I found out he has a fun trick (see the very end of the video). After he started trusting me more, I brought out the baby teeter so he could learn that he is in control of the movements. He retreated back to the tunnel a few times, but it was easier to coax him back out. Great job, Finlay, and thank you for trusting me! We will go slower next time. ❤️ -Makenna🐾

We get asked all the time, how late is too late for training ? Well here is a little 12 year old Doxie mix that just got adopted , has some reactivity issues , and is currently rocking her lessons . ♥️
