We're Josh & Nicole, a husband and wife team living in East Nashville with our dog, Max and cat, Esperanza. Josh is the full-time pet-sitter and CEO of Max Pet Services, and Nicole runs a nonprofit in East Nashville called Daybreak Arts (Learn more http://daybreakarts.org), while occasionally pet-sitting for clients during busy seasons and holidays. At Max Pet Services, our goal is to provide you

maximum care for your pets and maximum flexibility for your schedule. As pet-parents with only animal babies of our own, we understand how important it is for your pet to be given the maximum care and attention in your absence. We seek to build a unique relationship with your pet so they feel the same love and trust from us that they would under your care. We offer a free consultation to get to know you and your pet(s). We’re especially open to pets with special needs, fosters, and elderly pets and have past experience working with fosters from Snooty Giggles Dog Rescue. We provide dog walking, pet check-ins (up to 4-a-day), and overnights at your home. We're always happy to discuss other services as well, like baths and dog park trips. We are located in East Nashville and serve the entire East Nashville area, as well as Germantown/North Nashville, Sylvan Park, The Nations, and Madison. To schedule your free consultation email us at [email protected] or text us at 931-286-0483.

It started like any other year;
One filled with challenges, excitement, some tears.
Love kept us going, but little did we know
Just how steep the mountain of 2020 would go.
We strapped on our boots and we got moving
Despite the March tornado that tried to stop us from proving
That this community together grows.
We rescued more animals and provided more support
When government agencies fell short.
If you're able and can do some giving,
your donation means deserving animals can go on living.
Since 2008 and for as long as we C.A.N.
This family will continue to be a safe place for animals (and their humans) to land.

We adopted Max from East C.A.N.! They do such incredible work in our community, consider making a donation to help them help more animals!

We've searched high and low but dang it, none of the East CAN board is inheriting an ungodly sum of money any time soon and so here we are. We need money. We are proud to be the ninjas of the rescue community and so we don't usually expound on all the projects we're running behind the scenes. But we think you'd be proud (and hopefully inspired to grace us with your monetary blessing) of all the things we're choreographing all day, every day.

In the first half of 2019 we have provided vet care for 45 animals, at a cost of just over $10,000. This includes our photogenic and well-publicized 'poster pups', like "Josephine" & "Cole", but also includes spay/neuter for 16 animals, including 5 pets whose owners reached out for assistance ($1055 in spay/neuters thus far). It includes vaccinations, exam and treatment for 5 dogs traveling with a hitchhiking group ($337). It includes middle of the night ER visits for 4 different animals, including a community cat "Peanut" ($154) and everyone's favorite puppy, "Lambert", who came down with kennel cough ($202) before his adoption trial was able to start. It includes care for "Pancho", whose East Nashville owner reached out for assistance when he came up lame ($106). It includes monthly pest control (flea/tick/heart worm) for owners needing those supplies- since we know in our area how dangerous and invasive those parasites can be.

But, the expense that has hit us hardest, and most unexpectedly, is from boarding. As we are not a physical shelter, we rely on neighbors to foster and care for animals in our community, but when fosters' situations change, it’s a scramble, especially when the displaced dogs are those that were seriously abused and are undergoing intensive rehab training so not just any home is conducive to recovery. That scramble racked up boarding bills of nearly $5000. All the animals who have been boarded are now in safe foster homes once again, but it crippled our operating budget.

Thank you for donation consideration, and please share this post!

Much love, friends.

Our Story

We're Josh & Nicole, a husband and wife team living in East Nashville with our dog, Max and two cats, Esperanza and Fitzgerald. Our mission is to provide MAXIMUM care for your pets and MAXIMUM flexibility for your schedule. As pet parents with only animal babies of our own, we understand how important it is for your pet to be given the maximum care and attention in your absence. That’s why we’re here. We seek to build a unique relationship with your pet so they feel the same love and trust from us that they would under your care. In addition to providing the maximum quality of care for your pets, our services are customizable and flexible and are available usually within a 30-35 minute timeframe–perfect for an unexpected late night at the office! If desired, your pet will also have the opportunity to play with our boy Max–either in your yard or at the dog park, no extra charge! This will be discussed during the free consultation. We’re especially open to pets with special needs, fosters and elderly pets and have past experience working with fosters from Snooty Giggles Dog Rescue. As a small business, we believe it’s our role to give back to the community that contributes to our success, so we donate a percentage of our profits to local, hardworking animal nonprofits. We provide weekly dog walking, pet check-ins day and night, overnights at your home, dog park trips with our boy, Max, or just about anything else pet related. We are located in East Nashville and serve the entire Nashville area.
