Happy Fourth of July everyone! 🇺🇸🎆 we hope everyone have a fun and safe day with your dogs! Below are some tips for the fireworks!
💥administer any medications/CBD/calming treats 1-2 hours before the sun sets to allow ample time for it to “kick in” for your pup
💥 play calming music in your house (dogs like smooth jazz, classical music, and reggae studies have shown!), or have the tv playing to cover up any noise outside.
💥 make sure to have stuffed bones/kongs/and licky mats ready and available to keep your pup occupied while the fireworks are going off. If you’re able to freeze them, even better as they will last longer!
💥 snuggle up with your pups and make sure they know they are not experiencing this alone! A wonderful way to bond with your pup too!
💥 plan to let your dog out BEFORE the fireworks go off, if you must go out while fireworks are happening, make sure to keep them on a leash, regardless if your yard is fenced or not.
💥 make sure your dog has their name tag on, or if they don’t have one, painter’s tape and a sharpie with your phone number written on it works well too! 💥 make sure your pup gets plenty of exercise today to help tire them out for the evening! (But be on the lookout for heat stroke signs!).

Brushing....some dogs love to be brushed, others you have to chase down and beg them to let you brush their coat.
To help male brushing an easier task here are some tips:
✅️ Brush in the direction of the hair growth, backward brushing can break the hair and lead to thinning
✅️ Use a moisturizing brushing spray to help the hair gain elasticity to prevent damage and breakage, also to prevent dry itchy skin
✅️ Use the line brushing technique to make sure brushing is getting all the way down to the skin. To line brushing, start at the lowest point of your dog (leg/thigh) and work upwards and forwards lifting a portion of their hair to expose the part to brush.
🏆 The goal is to get a comb easily through the hair to prevent matting shave downs.
