Hello everybody, A serious Siberian rescue situation is ongoing down in Alabama. Some of you might have read about this on other groups but I wanted to share it here. There is a huge population of 30+ Siberian cats that need veterinary care and adoptions to pet homes. My friend Kim McDaniel of Timberbend Siberians is helping the TNR organization trying to identify cats and health issues.
Copied and pasted post:
Hello All, there is an ongoing Siberian rescue situation in Alabama that began Friday. I’ve spoken directly with the area TNR coordinator who is spearheading the rescue efforts. She listed earlier on Reddit. The breeder is elderly, in declining health and home conditions have been neglected for quite some time. The house has been structurally condemned and rescuers are legally unable to enter the dwelling which has significant structural damage. There are rules in place they must follow or be banned from the location. They are experienced rescuers and persistent with collecting these kitties by a variety of methods. She has no hard numbers of cats in this location, but there are all ages from a known newborn litter to 8+ years of age and from pictures are estimated at 30+
The rescue group is asking for donations and will be accepting adoption applications once kitties are vetted and desexed. They are establishing a specific Amazon and Chewy wish list which will posted once available. Currently they have sufficient food (breeder/owner had food delivery arranged) but are in need of funds for vet care. Cats have not been to a vet in years.
