The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) updated its dog importation regulations effective August 1, 2024. These changes aim to protect public health by preventing the reintroduction of dog-maintained rabies virus variants into the United States.

Key requirements for all dogs entering the U.S. include:
• Must appear healthy upon arrival.
• Must be at least six months old.
• Must be microchipped.
• Must have a CDC Dog Import Form online submission receipt.

Additional requirements depend on where the dog has been in the last six months and its rabies vaccination status. For dogs arriving from countries with a high risk of dog rabies, they must be protected against rabies.

These regulations apply to all dogs, including puppies, service animals, and dogs that left the United States and are returning. They also apply whether you are a U.S. citizen, legal U.S. resident, or foreign national.

The CDC has provided a personalized question-and-answer tool, “DogBot,” on their website to help travelers determine the specific requirements for their dogs based on travel dates, origin, and vaccination status.

Breeders Testimony: Today at the Compound we almost lost a pup. Coco615(Boosie Dog) laid on 1 of her pups and by the time I found him he was flat and clinging on to life. I ran him to the house to my 1st lady Mikia Preston-Howard and went back to the kennel. Ten minutes later I get back to the house and the pup is alive.🙏🏾 I’m beyond thankful for her❤️❤️❤️ she’s already caring for the runt tube feeding her every 2 hours. We love what we do and the passion is the fuel ⛽️ that keeps us going. 615 Cane Corso 2nd to None!!
