When we made plans for our hallways and exam rooms, we were very intentional with the details.

1. The arched ceilings, pendant lights, arched mirror, and room number displays in the hallways are round, intending to subtly represent the shape of the eye.

2. We have 8 exam rooms to aim to provide an efficient, streamlined outpatient service.

3. Each exam room door received a different door knocker including 7 different breeds of dogs and 1 cat. The dachshund is pictured to showcase the detail.

4. When you step in to the exam room, the back wall has custom wallpaper with our logo, lift tables to accommodate our large AND small patients, pass-through cabinets to minimize the number of pieces of equipment required to perform our exams, round wall sconces (again, round = eye), and a framed exam checklist to provide each one of our clients information about their pet’s exam.

5. All of the colors used for paint, wallpaper, furniture selection, etc. were a part of our brand color palette.

6. Framed photographs on the shelves in the exam rooms are pictures of staff pets.

We are so pleased with the outcome!

Have you seen a third eyelid cyst? This is not a “cherry eye” and not a tumor.

This patient was presented to The Eye Vets recently for progressive swelling of the left third eyelid and discharge from the left eye following a Morgan pocket technique that had been performed to reposition a pr*****ed third eyelid gland. Although relatively rare, one of the possible complications of the pocket technique is cyst formation.

A fine needle aspirate of this swelling confirmed it was a cyst and surgical intervention via marsupialization of the cyst was recommended and pursued.

Marsupialization of a cyst was described in a 2017 case report and is a very quick and effective procedure and provides excellent cosmesis post-operatively.

Meet Pickles the leopard gecko! While this is an adorable video, it represents so much more than that - Pickles can see again! Scroll ➡️ to see the journey of Pickles.
Thanks to and the incredible work she is doing at , Pickles was rescued from a home with very poor husbandry conditions. Among other things, he had suffered severe damage to both eyes and came to us blind and in danger of losing both eyes. Unfortunately his left eye could not be saved but his right eye has made amazing progress because of Ansley’s commitment to his care.
We are so happy for Pickles but please let this serve as a reminder that reptile ownership is not for everyone because of the intensive care required to keep them healthy and thriving 🦎

A dog presents to you with vision changes, blepharospasm, and diffuse corneal edema which makes evaluating the inside of the eye difficult. Maybe you see aqueous flare? You’re certain the lens is not luxated anteriorly.

Sound familiar? You may be diagnosing uveitis. Save these tips to reference the next time you see a case of uveitis in a dog.

Severe panuveitis with associated keratitis and extensive posterior synechia in a canine patient. We unfortunately don’t have images or videos of the posterior segment to also show the exudative retinal detachment in the eye. Blastomycosis is our top differential and urine antigen results are pending.

Step inside The Eye Vets!

We moved in to our new hospital in August 2024. We wanted to create a specialty veterinary hospital that not only provided exceptional care but also fostered a positive, welcoming environment for both our staff and our clients. By focusing on a design that reflected our commitment to detail, we aimed to ensure that our team felt valued and inspired, while clients knew their pets were in the best hands. It was essential to us that the hospital became a place where everyone felt comfortable, confident, and eager to be part of the experience.

Meet Sammy, a broad-winged hawk! He was presented to The Eye Vets to assess his vision and determine his candidacy for cataract removal surgery from the left eye.

Sammy was hit by a car 3 years ago and sustained trauma to the left eye that deemed him non-releasable and was transferred to to become a wildlife ambassador. Fast forward to late 2024, felt that the left eye was showing signs of vision return and referred to us. Sammy was determined to be poorly visual from the left eye because of an advanced cataract

Today’s test results confirmed he is a candidate for cataract removal. With a successful surgery, Sammy may be able to be returned to the wild!

The Eye Vets Holiday party 2024 feat. some incredible sweaters and our own version of Bluey’s “Pass the Parcel.”

Such a fun evening! 🎄

Pickles saw veterinary ophthalmologist Dr. Bergstrom of The Eye Vets today 🙏

They said the cornea of his remaining eye looks a bit dry, likely from him not being able to fully close the lids, which may be inflamed from the remnants of infection.

He's not able to move his eye much, so we'll have to wait and see how and if the eye muscles heal, and how much it'll be able to function.

Pickles did have sensation and retracted his eye when they did a corneal stain, so that's another positive.

We'll be doing another round of antibiotics to see if we can get that last bit of infection out of the way, anti-inflammatory meds, and will be continuing eye flushes and antibacterial applications for the time being.

We'll be doing a follow-up in a month to see if there's any notable improvement in this eye.

I think this was a very informative and worthwhile visit for Pickles, and I'm so grateful to The Eye Vets and Dr. Bergstrom for their expertise and care!
