I am a great pyrenees adopted from Big Fluffy Dog Rescue in Nashville, TN. My name is Callie Keekers, but you can just call me Callie!

I hope you will like and follow my page and share in my new life in my forever home, also located in Nashville. I was rescued by the great folks from Hip Donelson Lost and Found Pets, after having to survive on my own. Being a great pyrenees, I'm stubborn and really made them work for 4 months to catch me! But, they never gave up and after almost a year in two amazing foster homes, I'm now in my f

orever home with my mom ( on Facebook and Instagram) and dog sister Nawla ( on Facebook and Instagram). During my time on the lam, I had to revert to feral just to survive! I lived in the wild with deer, coyotes, bobcats, and other wild critters. My rescuers actually have photos from their trail cams of me coexisting and sharing my food with my wildlife friends! But, after my rescue, my foster families allowed me to decompress and get my bearings and relearn how to be a domestic dog. Then, my mom adopted me from Big Fluffy Dog Rescue and I came to my forever home to stay FOREVER on August 8, 2020. I hope you will like and follow my page and see me continue to get over my fears resulting from my time in the wild and blossom into a well loved family pet with my new mom and dog sister!

Mom made me stay inside earlier this morning, so now I'm camouflaging so she can't see me and spoil my fun. She needs to leave me alone and let me enjoy every last moment of this rare gift from God! ❄️❄️❄️

Callie now embraces my loud shouting while I watch the Predators games. This morning, I was watching last night's game and after the Preds scored one of their goals, I yelled, "YEAH, BABY!" and started singing the "I like it, I love it, I want some more of it!" goal song. Callie came running into the living room to join in on the celebration. She's so funny! She was spinning and play bowing and almost knocked the Christmas tree over. 🤣🤣🤣

Funny Callie story this morning. I was eating a banana and both dogs were expecting me to share. Nawla the Husky doesn't normally like banana, but to satisfy her curiosity, I offered her a small piece and to my surprise she ate it. I'm guessing it's because she didn't want Callie to have it. When I would offer a piece to Callie, she'd sniff it and not take it, like "no thanks." So, I'd give that piece to Nawla. After about 3-4 offers and watching it go to Nawla, she finally took a piece and the look on her face was just like a kid about to eat something he knows he's not going to like. 🤣🤣🤣 I so wish I'd gotten it on video, because it was priceless. I guess she decided that it tastes much better than it smells because after that, she didn't hesitate to take it and there was no look of trepidation on her face. 😂 She is showing SO MUCH personality these days! ❤️🥰❤️

Callie has always been nervous when things get out of place, so I haven't done much rearranging these past 3 years, except when I've had to camp out in the living room with Nawla for a whole year when she had the knee surgeries. Yesterday, I moved that stack of beds out from in front of the dining room windows so I could move my avocado trees in front of the windows. Callie has ignored the beds for the year they've been there, but as soon as I moved them over next to the other beds, she has chosen that as her spot. Her level of comfort and confidence has skyrocketed these past few months. The 3 days, 3 weeks, 3 months rule turned into 3 weeks, 3 months, 3 years for Callie. But, I was happy to give her a lifetime to get there. I have been wanting to rearrange the living room, but with her finally hanging out with us in here, I've resisted the urge. Maybe I will be able to do it soon since she seems to be less resistant to these types of changes. 🤗❤️

Today is Callie's designated birthday. I didn't have time to bake them homemade pupcakes, so I picked up some small Halloween cupcakes (after thoroughly reading the label to make sure there's no xylitol in them). The Bryers all natural vanilla ice cream cups are leftover from Nawla's birthday in April. And, in the last two pictures, you see that the cupcake was gone in a flash! I don't think she even tasted it! 😂. She's 🖐️ years young ❤️

I got Mom back this morning. She was trying to make her bed, so I jumped up and laid on the sheets where she sleeps. teehee... Then she threw the covers over me! I still didn't move, because... 🤔 well, because I'm a stubborn great pyrenees!!! 🤣🤣🤣

Look who is finally rolling all the way over on her back for belly rubs. She just recently started moving her leg out of the way inviting me to rub her belly when she was laying on her side getting pets and cuddles. This morning, she rolled over on her back and opened wide. 🥰 This took 3 years, 6 1/2 weeks. Never give up on them. Give them all the time they need to feel comfortable and they will get there. ❤️

Callie is finally learning to play more gently with Nawla. These days it seems that Nawla is the one that gets revved up and too rowdy which leads Callie to get rowdy, then Nawla is the one that gets hurt, so I still watch them closely and correct them when it gets too rough. This morning, they've been laying here playing like this longer than usual without getting too amped up. Of course, just as I typed that, Nawla popped up ready to rumble 🤣

I love seeing Callie blossom ❤️

Check out the latest development!!! She now goes outside in the dark!!! It has taken her 3 years to get over her paralyzing fear of being outside in the dark! ❤️ I attempted to work with her on it, but decided to just let her work through it in her own time. Right before Christmas, I heard her barking outside at 530pm and was shocked to see her still outside with Nawla. She has gradually been getting more and more comfortable going out in the dark. Tonight, she was wanting me to turn the porch light on so she could go out. As long as she can see what's on the other side of the glass, she has been going out the dog door. Tonight was the first time she's actually asked to be let out in the dark. It's such a huge and exciting breakthrough! Her only remaining extreme fear is thunderstorms. I pray that she will be able to get over that someday as well. ❤️❤️❤️

It's a Christmas Miracle!!! 🎄🎅☃️🌟

For the first time ever, Callie went outside ON HER OWN after dark! I heard her outside barking earlier and it was dark out, so I thought she was stuck out there thinking the dog door was closed. But, just a few minutes ago, she was barking at something she heard outside and ran to the dog door. So, I opened it and she ran right out barking and was running around with Nawla! Just like that! After more than two years of being so terrified to be outside in the dark that all she could do was pull on the leash in a panic to get back inside. She just gave me the best Christmas gift she ever could! Although, I'm sure the neighbors will not be thrilled with this new development 🤣

PS... Please ignore the mess she has tracked into my kitchen this weekend both on her feet and in her tail and fur 🤦🏼‍♀️

I have turned into quite the cuddle bug lately. As soon as mom sits down with her fuzzy warm blanket, I jump right up and put my paws and head in her lap for her to kiss and love on me. She even gets up extra early on her long pet sitting days so that we can still enjoy our morning cuddles like this.

So, this has been going on in my backyard all afternoon and I've surprised Mom by staying downstairs and being completely chill and relaxed. Now, I'm standing at the back door watching and barking at them as they're cleaning up their mess... I gotta make sure they don't take anything of mine out of the yard!

I've decided to test the "great pyrenees self-cleaning coat" myths that have been floating around on the GP groups mom is on. I have literally turned myself black laying in the top soil (these pics really don't even show how black my fur is), and really worked it in by going out and laying in it in the rain today.

So, what do you think? Will my fur be white in the morning? I'm betting that the floor where I sleep will be black and Mom will not be any happier tomorrow with my experiment than she is today! 😬

I got her back though. I jumped down and planted my feet into her hip and used all 80 of my pounds to launch myself off the couch. She yelled, but I barely heard her as I raced out the dog door to yell at the butterfly I heard fart down the block!

There's nothing quite like a freshly mowed lawn. Am I right? It makes me feel extra spunky! And, for the record, I'm more than ready for Nawla to be able to play again! Mom said it'll be another week or two, but we're getting closer. I'll believe it when I see it, at this point! It's been a long and lonely 6 months 😢

Look who has started hanging out and laying on the dog beds. This development started taking place about a week or so ago. Those beds have been in that corner since March when the dining room turned into the living room, because the living room turned into the bedroom 😁

With this heat, I've been stay upstairs during the day while Mom goes to work. She doesn't trust me to come in out of the heat, because I'm stubborn that way. Hey, if there's something or someone on the other side of the fence, I'm going to stay out there and protect my turf! Well, this past weekend, she was home but I asked to go up before even eating my breakfast, so she was obeying my command thinking that I was hearing thunder ahead of the incoming storms. To help keep me from suffering through the fireworks, she set me up in style and I now have a really cozy apartment upstairs. I now have a high velocity fan turned way up on high that is really keeping it nice and cool, I've been binging NCIS from S1 since Saturday and there's a lovely, calming lavender scent coming from the diffuser. I've been so cozy that I barely grace Mom and Nawla with my presence for more than going out to potty. Mom tries to get me to stay and hang out, but I make it immediately clear that I want to go back upstairs to my lovely, cozy apartment that she made for me. She thinks this was hilarious, but I thought it was totally rude! She stood at the foot of the stairs with the Roku remote and paused NCIS!!! Seriously?! Don't be messing with my Gibbs obsession!!! She made me come out of my apartment and look down at her with my incredulous look to tell her, "hey, I was watching that!" She got the message, because she unpaused it and I turned and went back into my cushy pad to watch more Gibbs. Since she can't watch Paramount downstairs if I'm watching it upstairs, she made me my very own profile, so I can watch Gibbs all day long if I want to, and I do!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 In case there was any doubt before, this confirms that I am officially spoiled here!

Since it's so hot outside and I haven't been getting a whole lot of attention from Mom since Nawla hurt her knee, I've decided to start hanging out inside with Mom now that Nawla is on the other side of a baby gate (she had knee surgery 2 weeks ago). She got me! I'm no longer playing hard to get! Hmmm... was this her plan all along??? 🤔

When you get in mom's face because she's ignoring your request to go back upstairs to bed and she mistakes it as cuddles (note the 🙄 in the second pic)

I then proceeded to do all the things that she gets mildly frustrated with thinking maybe she'll give in and let me go upstairs. I went outside and barked, then came back inside and looked at the stairway pointedly. That didn't work, so I barked so loud the windows rattled and looked at the stairway again. Still, she ignored me. So, I know how much she hates me panting my hot stinking breath in her face, so I tried that. Again, I was too close and she thought it was more cuddles 🙄 I think she's being deliberately obtuse. So, finally, I just decided to stand here staring at stairs until she finally takes the hint! Good grief! Doesn't she know that a great pyrenees is supposed to run the house?!?!

Mom and I are enjoying this pretty spring day. Nawla is inside because of her hurt leg. She came out to potty and Mom wouldn't let us play, making Nawla go back inside. Oh well, I'm getting undivided attention instead. PS... The auto generated caption program obviously can't understand Mom 🤣

It took me 2 hours to mow the dog yard, so I let them out to potty during one of my breaks. Callie was funny telling the mower off from a safe distance.

This has been a long time coming...Callie feeling comfortable enough to hang out in the living room. This is the longest they've played in here. PS I had to upload a muted video, because the radio was playing in the background and those videos always get flagged for copyright infringement, so I've learned my lesson 😉

Every morning at 8am sharp

I think they missed each other today. Callie's butt looks like a poodle without all that long frizzy fur LOL She seems to feel pretty frisky with 10lbs of fur gone from her body 😆

I took this video this morning when I noticed her being goofy digging in the dirt. What I didn't realize at the time was that she was playing with a mole she'd dug out of its tunnel. 🤦🏼‍♀️ I later found its body in the yard 😢 RIP Mr Mole.
