My name is Tonia Floyd and I am a certified professional dog trainer. I love all dogs, from puppies to shelter dogs and will work with a wide range of problems and issues. I also work with behavior modification of all dogs and have multiple rescue organizations I work with to make life better for behaviorally challenged dogs and make sure they and their new owners have all the help they need. I
will do an in home evaluation and come up with a plan for you and your family based on your needs. At that point you can choose to work with your dog in your home or at the Training Spot Ranch, located 20 minutes outside of Nashville. I also offer boarded residency programs, where your dog stays at the Ranch for multiple day training sessions and then you are taught the commands with your dog when I bring them home to you and we do the follow up sessions. In addition to obedience training, I do socialization training with a balanced pack, dog integrations and use my pack to teach dogs things we can’t. We planted gardens and we celebrated this time of year for as long as I could remember, and it was the best time of my year . my dad was complicated but he loved me and I adored him. Adored.

This sweet girl was left in Memphis at MAS after a rescue took her puppies. Fortunately Proverbs 12:10 Animal Rescue stepped up. She received her freedom ride, and then the kind Michelle Mountes brought her to me and she has enjoyed the company of the other dogs at the Ranch.
We have only had a few adjustment issues and I am sure she has many reasons to need some time. She loves to snuggle and play with others but can enjoy a day in the sun.
She is also a human cuddle bug and has slept with me on the couch and in bed. She is very good at it. She is so intelligent too! She learns so fast and has really good manners.
We haven’t walked on a leash yet but she doesn’t fight it when I need to use it for handling. I am Still trying to get some weight on her and let her rest as much as possible. She will need heartworm treatment and that will happen soon.
This girl is going to be someone’s favorite best friend ever or a great addition to a family or pack!

So you want to surrender your dog to a rescue...
Hello: You have reached… your local broke non profit rescue run by volunteers-
Due to the high volume of calls we have been receiving, please listen closely to the following options and choose the one that best describes you or your situation:
Press 1 if you have a 10-year-old dog and your 15-year-old son has suddenly become allergic and you need to find the dog a new home right away.
Press 2 if you are moving TODAY but knew it 3 months ago and need to immediately place your 150 pound, 8-year-old dog.
Press 3 if you have three dogs, had a baby and want to get rid of your dogs because you are the only person in the world to have a baby and dogs at the same time.
Press 4 if you just got a brand new puppy and your old dog is having problems adjusting so you want to get rid of the old one right away.
Press 5 if your little puppy has grown up and is no longer small and cute and you want to trade it in for a new model
Press 6 if you want an unpaid volunteer to come to your home TODAY and pick up the dog you no longer want.
Press 7 if you have been feeding and caring for a “stray” for the
last three years, are moving and suddenly determine it’s not your dog.
Press 8 if your dog is sick and needs a vet but you need the money for your vacation, w**d, manicure/ pedicure or your hair needs a color & cut.
Press 9 if you are elderly and want to adopt a cute puppy who is active and is going to outlive you, cause you will fall and break a hip & you have ZERO relatives after this happens to help with the dog.
Press 10 if your relative has died and you don’t want to care for
their elderly dog because it doesn’t fit your lifestyle. Press pound pound if we need to get the pet within 4 minutes.
Press 11 if your two-year old male dog is marking all over your house but you just haven’t gotten around to having him neutered.
Press 12 if you previously had an outdoor only dog and are calling because she is suddenly pregnant.
Press 13 if you are calling at 5 a.m. to make sure you wake me up before I have to go to work so you can drop a dog off on your way to work.
Press 14 to leave us an anonymous garbled message, letting us know you have left a dog in our yard in the middle of January, which is in fact, better than just leaving the dog with no message.

Press 16 if you are going to threaten ME to take your ten-year old dog to be euthanized because we can't take it because 55 others are in line ahead of you.
Press 17 if you want one of our PERFECTLY trained, hypoallergenic, under 9 pound female dogs that are housebroken, kid and cat friendly purebred that we have an abundance of.
Press 18 if you want us to take your dog that has a slight aggression problem, i.e. has only bitten a few people and killed your neighbor’s cats.
Press 19 if you have already called once and been told we don’t take personal surrenders but thought you would get a different person this time with a different answer.
Press 20 if you want us to use space that would go to a stray to
board your personal dog while you are on vacation, free of charge, of course.
Press 21 if it is Christmas Eve or Easter morning and you want me to deliver an eight week old puppy to your house by 6:30 am before your kids wake up- oh and it needs to never bark or never p*e in the house
Press 22 if you want us to take your female dog who has already had ten litters, but we can’t spay her because she is pregnant again and it is against your religion.
Press 23 if you’re lying to make one of our younger volunteers feel bad and take your personal pet off your hands.
Press 24 if you have done “everything” to housebreak your dog and have had no success but you don’t want to crate the dog because it is cruel, you also refuse to gate the dog into a secure area like a kitchen or nook
Press 25 if you didn’t listen to the message asking for an evening phone number and you left your work number when all volunteers are also working and you are angry because no one called you back.
Press 26 if you need a puppy immediately and cannot wait because today is your daughter’s birthday and you forgot when she was born.
Press 27 if your dog’s coat doesn’t match your new furniture and you need a different color or breed.
Press 28 if you went through all these ‘options’ and didn’t hear
enough. This press will connect you to the sounds of tears being shed by one of our volunteers who is holding a discarded old dog while the vet mercifully frees him from the grief of missing his family.

OK, my dear friends, we have some little folks over in our area that need our help after the tornado.
We have a very special little area in Madison called Amqui Station. As with most of the area out here there’s so much history and Recommend you guys all look it up. Especially the Amqui railroad station that Johnny Cash had moved to Madison and is now a museum and farmers market and venue in our area.
27 houses were destroyed in that area and so all of the little kids in those homes now have nothing. No clothes no toys for Christmas. No toys from the past. My amazing council person Tonya Hancock , and one of the most amazing people I’ve ever encountered Brian Copeland, have put together an Angel tree list for these kids. So we are buying everything for them and it is going to cost a lot more because we’re not adding to what they may have, they have nothing.
I have had some very generous donations from people that I have talked to this morning about this, but as many people have taken names off of the list, they figured out this is going to be a little more than most people were counting on who really want to help. So I am taking donations and will buy for the child we have chosen, and then the rest of the money will go to the Madison community to help those that don’t have a lot, but want to give to this cause be able to afford the child they chose!
I will show everybody receipts and totals. This is pretty quick and down and dirty. We have to get these presents to these kids by Tuesday morning because schools out after that. So we have until Monday night at 6 o’clock. I would like to get our shopping done tomorrow and I already have this organized with some people For our child. That way I can pass off the money tomorrow evening to help finish out the kids Monday before the deadline.
I know people have been looking for a chance to make an impact and I promise you the shoes and underwear and coats and clothes for this little boy who loves SpiderMan will be huge. And we will get extra games for these kids to share with other kids in the house and trying to help these traumatized babies have a great Christmas at least wherever they are displaced to.

Gabby is a 5 to 6 year old terrier mix. She is house trained and has a very sweet personality. Gabby gets along well with small dogs, but big dogs frighten her. In her previous home, she lived with two dogs about her size and did well. She currently weighs 27 pounds, but the vet wants her to get down to 22 pounds.Gabby could be a weight loss partner for the New Year.
Because she tends to chew her leash while walking, a durable leash would be preferable for walks. While she loves people, she is not a cuddly dog. Gabby will come to you when she wants to be petted, but is not a fan of hugs. Sadly, her previous owner was diagnosed with a terminal disease and Gabby along with two other dogs were surrendered to a vet to be put to sleep, but thankfully, the vet refused and contacted Proverbs. She is a precious, independent little girl who will be a great companion for some lucky adopter.

We’ve had Bayleigh several months. She was one on the “box” puppies abandoned on a country road. She had a broken leg and had to have surgery. to place a pen in her little leg. Then she had a second surgery to remove it. She has endured so much in her short life. She is spayed, chipped, current on shots, and preventatives.Bayleigh gets a long great with other dogs. We need to find this beauty an exceptional home. Her first holidays should not be spent in foster care, but in her very own exceptional home.

We’re having a blast with all these puppies training at the Ranch! Manners are great, but having fun learning is best!! 
Here is the much requested Jett update! Jett is a Proverbs 12:10 Rescue dog that has been here for a few weeks now. As you can tell he is looking so much healthier physically as well as mentally! We have gradually increased his food intake, so that it didn’t make him sick, and now then he had probably gained about 15 pounds. I would bet he has about another 20 to go. He is such a lover and is the sweetest,most gentle giant I have ever met! Due to the cold and super rainy weather, we have not been able to integrate him as much as we would like with the other dogs. He seems to be respectful of the dogs that we have been able to put him with and he walks through the barn every day and visits the dogs in their cages and never barks. It’s like he greets them all just to say “Hello”. Missy says he’s like a big cat because he comes up wants to rub on us. He wants any kind of human contact that he can. He sits very still when you’re petting him and he loves to be massaged. He does get excited like a puppy and that is a lot of puppy! He likes to put his paws on our chest, we don’t necessarily encourage it, but when a big boy like that raises his paw up it’s on you before you can really do anything about it. But it’s in such a gentle sweet way, he was just showing affection. We have been working with his leash training but he so excited about the attention that he wants to play. We want to certainly make sure that he has a good experience on the leash so we’re slowly getting him used to some manners. Hopefully now that the weather is better we can take pictures of each other with him so that you can get a true visual of how huge this animal is. His heart is equal to the size of his body. Anybody that loves Great Danes could not find a sweeter, more kind, furry family member.
Here is a little Jett Update for those wanting to know his progress. It is always hard bringing in a great big dog like this and never knowing for sure what his real mentality is. But after a few days I have to say, this is one of the sweetest, gentle, giants I’ve ever seen. He gets very excited and jumps around and barks a lot, and that’s quite a sight to see 120 to 140 pounds bouncing around you. But as we have gotten to know each other, he just wants love. When I go in the room with him he gets really excited, and then I put his food in his bowl and he will eat a couple of bites, but then he comes over and wants some love. He has so enjoyed the heater. The first couple of days he did not want to go out because I’m sure he was afraid he wasn’t going to get come back in. So I just did the duty and cleaned up after him, and that’s a lot of cleaning up but it gave him Time to settle In. After a couple of days of being able to leave the doors open for him he now knows that he will get back in. His big thing now he wants me to go out in the yard with him, of course I do. So he is still just making sure that he can get back in, and I think he loves the company. We’re putting some weight on him in a healthy fashion. In a few days we will see if we can Find him a buddy. Right now he has his little rabbit toy and he loves that thing. So overall, Jett is doing great! Anyone that knows and loves Great Danes, this is your guy! Thank you Proverbs 12:10 for giving me the chance to get to know this guy.
This is Jett. He was chained outside and only given one can of food a day until four days ago. He has not been socialized due to his horrible circumstances and is really insecure and scared. He was at a great foster for a few days but this big guy needs a little more room and the pack to help him learn to be a happy dog. He spent last night with a huge bed, blankets, his baby stuffed rabbit and a lot of heat and food. We will give him all the time he needs to trust us, gain some weight and rest. When he is ready, we will socialize him and give him all he needs to move in to his forever home. He will have no more bad days, we promise. I love being a dog trainer because it allows me the opportunity to not only meet great people and help them with their personal dogs, but we get a chance to really make difference for these poor pups that need a place to go. Jett will be available through Proverbs 12:10 when he is ready to move on. Updates to follow.

I love it when these guys stay with me. Lady is really old and needs a special place to stay so that she can relax and Rambeaux gets to come for the ride. He is the biggest sweetest love bug ever. But this is a really sweet video of them and I had heard about her cleaning technique and thought it was pretty interesting :-)
